INTRODUCTION
Communication is defined a medium of sharing ideas, information and message among
two people with the assistance of channels of communication. In addition to this, communication
is an important aspect as it assist in developing good relation with other people and also help in
knowing the perception of others in a proper manner (Dwyer and Hopwood, 2019). In the
present time period, it is essential for a person to have an effective communication skills so that
they can grab better opportunities effectively and timely as well. The communication procedure
is mainly associated with various barriers of communication that is important to declined or
removed. The current project is based on Learn English United Kingdom. It is an English
language schools based in Manchester and London as well. The school has over 1000
international students attending within a year. In the present time, students of school is facing
many issues that is noise of passing traffic, improper listening of what teacher communicates,
weak Wi-Fi signal and so on. The report will cover various general theories of organisational
communication. In addition to this, there is evaluation of communication barriers and the
strategies is discuss to overcome with such communication barriers. In the last, some
recommendations is given in order to improve communication among students and teachers as
well.

General theories of organisational communication
There are many theories of organisational communication which is executed by an entity
in order to ensure effective communication and improve performance as well. Some of the
theories is described below in relation to respective school:
Communication Accommodation Theory: It is consider as one of the effective
communication theory which was developed by Howard Giles and focuses on adjustments which
people does at the time of communicating by declining the social differences (García-Sánchez,
2020). In addition to this, the aspect which leads to accommodation activity are mainly
adjustments that can be through gestures and verbal communication as well. There are mainly
two forms of accommodation process involved in this theory that is convergence and divergence.
In context to convergence, it is basically a procedure where individuals tend to accept other

individuals communication characteristics to decline the social difference. If it is talking about
divergence, this procedure contradicts as herein a person focuses on social difference & non
verbal difference among the intercalant.
Actor-Network Theory (ANT) – This theory of communication directly state that non-
human and human factor is equally impact on success and develop knowledge in an effective
manner. In addition to this, actor network theory focuses on how networks are developed and
contribute towards attainment of success. So, it is stated that both connection and human are
responsible to achieve outcomes.
Agenda Setting Theory – The respective theory state that mass media companies
analyse what a general public undertaken to be worthy. Along with this, it is usually done by
determining the level of attention a story gained (Pikhart, 2018).
Therefore, all these theories of organisational communication which can be executed for
enhancing performance and profitability of a business entity.
Barriers of communication at Learn English UK
One of the most significant thing for developing an effective and long-term relationship is
communication as it assist in exchanging information in a proper manner. In addition to this, it is
analysed that there are various factors that affect communication & enables an individual to
explain their view points. It is important for a person to have good and effective communication
as well as interaction skills so that they are able to make others understand and also listen to
others as well. There are many barriers to communication associated to Learner English UK that
is discussed below:
 Oral barriers- It is determined that oral barriers are impacting on communication of
individuals as they make them enable to explain to another people. For example, if a
student is not good in communication then he or she are not understand by audience or
other people as well. For this, communication plays an important role in order to
exchange information and will assist in analysing the requirements of individuals. This
help in fulfilling the needs of students and make them satisfied within the school.
 Cultural barriers- In Learn English UK, there are students belong from internationally
and have different culture as well as opinions. These arise the conflicts in students as they
interpret the different meaning of lesson which impact negatively on their performance

level. in addition to this, it also develop ineffective connection in students due to which
they did not take interest in working with others or in a team as well.
 Focussing on personal agenda- Another barrier is people are more emphasised towards
their own satisfaction and personal agenda as well (Schartel Dunn and Lane, 2019). In
addition to this, it divert the mind of students to work as team and due to which an
improper communication arise among the students. It is stated that Learn English UK is
emphasising on gaining and earning money instead of knowing requirements of students
of school.
Therefore, it is analysed that all these barriers of communication impact negatively on
students’ performance and arise issues which as result affecting overall brand image and
efficiency of school.
Company strategies to overcome these barriers
It is important for the Learn English UK to develop an effective strategy to decline barriers
of communication. Some of the strategies is discussed below:
Building effective relationships – It is undertaken as one of the vital aspect that respective
school can adopt for overcoming with barriers and challenges if faced at present. Along with
this, it will motivate students to interact with others properly and effective that leads to
improvement in overall performance.
Be vulnerable – It is significant for respective school to be vulnerable towards students. In
addition to this, if students face issues then they have the right to speak directly to high
authorities. It will help in creating awareness of issues in mind of top authorities. Execution of
such strategy will assist in ensuring that management take effective measures to deal with issues
which the students ae facing presently.
Student's Evaluation – Another strategy is students evaluation so that they are aware
about various concepts which they can evaluate by making use of tools and provide same at
school (Leontev, 2018). In addition to this, formal communication should be promoted in order
to assist in improving students performance. So, all these strategies should be used by respective
schools so that they can overcome with barriers in an effective manner.

Recommendations
By analysing the above mentioned information, some of the suggestion is discussed
below:
 It is suggested to higher authorities and teachers of Learn English UK to make use of
effective and appropriate communication channels as it will assist students to
communicate with other students and mentors in a proper manner.
 In addition to this, it is recommended to focus on installing a string Wi-Fi network in the
premises of school so that no disturbance and issues take place while giving class and
students should communicate with their family and friends and searching information in a
proper manner.
 Moreover, the respective school is needed to promote diverse culture within the premises
so that every student have the knowledge about different language and culture due to
which they are able to develop good relation with others and also understand other
opinions which decline the level of conflicts arise (Bruža and Rudančić, 2018).
 In the last, it is suggested to make use of social media applications in order to promote
about school as it assist in reaching large number of people in short time period and also
enhance the students base level of school in an effective manner.
CONCLUSION
From the above study, it has been analysed that communication is vital in order to gain
opportunities and to develop relationship with others. In addition to this, students plays vital role
in enhancing and developing brand image of an institution so it is significant to decline the
barriers of communication which impact negatively on their performance level. There are
various barriers of effective communication that is language barrier, cultural barrier and so on. It
is determined that there are various strategies in order to overcome with such barriers that is
feedback policy, promote diverse culture, using of effective communication channel and many
more. The theories of organisational communication is agenda setting, communication
accommodation theory etc. It is concluded that it is significant for respective organisation to use
effective channel of communication so that proper and right information is getting by students
that has influence on their overall efficiency and performance.
