INTRODUCTION
Effective communication refers to the process of exchanging ideas and information in
such a manner that the intention or purpose of delivering it is achieved in best possible manner
(Khan and et. al., 2020). Under the given case scenario, the LearnEnglishUK school are facing
issues like firstly, there has been barrier to effective communication between students and
teachers. Further low WiFi signal makes them feel homesick as they are unable to connect with
family. Thirdly there is lack of cultural awareness in the school. This report shall deal with
barriers to communication, strategies to overcome them and further the importance of cultural
awareness.
TASK 1
Common challenges and barriers to effective communication
The common challenges faced by LearnEnglishUK while effectively communicating are-
 Boring classroom lesson- An ineffective communication can make students feel bore,
disinterested and unmotivated where a teacher lack effective communication skills.
 Personality differences- it comes between a teacher and student due to which students
are unable to connect with teachers at personal level and avois communications.
The barriers to effective communication in LearnEnglishUK are-
 Unable to listen- Due to school's location at busy street, the students are unable to listen
what a teacher is delivering. This becomes barrier between students and teacher to
effectively communicate (Koev, 2017).
 Physical barrier- The school building is old and lack proper isolation due to which
students feel less focused during winters. This become barrier in communicating between
student and teacher.
Effective strategies for overcoming communication barriers
In order to overcome the challenges and barriers faced by the LearnEnglishUK, the
school can adopt the following strategies which are discussed below-
 Active listen- while allowing other to speak and an individual has patience to listen, this
can help in overcoming the barrier of effective communication. The students must try to
listen to what their teacher is delivering in order make effective communication.

 Principle of attention- in order to deliver the information is not enough, rather the
sender must focus on whether the receiver have understood or not. The teachers in
LearnEnglishUK must try to take feed backs from students as to whether they are
understanding or not under the loud noises. And students must actively listen to what the
teacher is passing on to them (Kuruwitaarachch, 2018).
The importance of cultural awareness
The culture of a place plays an important role in making the healthy environment. Lack
of cultural awareness can result in bad decisions so it is important to create cultural awareness.
The school of LearnEnglishUK has many problems which results in demotivating the students.
The poor WiFi signals make them feel homesick as they are unable to connect with family.
Further the culture of the school is unhealthy due to lack of activities for the students which
becomes hurdle in their overall development (Yang, 2018). So it is important for the school to
organise such cultural activities for the students to make them feel familiar with the culture of
school so that they do not feel homesick.
CONCLUSION
It is concluded from the above report that effective communication is the key to make the
healthy environment. There are many barriers faced by LearnEnglishUK school in order to
communicate with its students like physical barrier, lack of listening skills, etc. So in order to
overcome this, the students must actively listen to what the teacher is delivering and pay
attention in the class. Further the cultural awareness is an important aspect as it helps to
familiarise the students with the culture of the school so that they feel motivated and happy while
studying.
