INTRODUCTION
Profit maximization an sustainability are two main objectives of organizations.
Competition is high and the major challenge face by entities is to satisfy customer. Corporate
social responsibility (CSR) ensures that companies conduct their operations in an ethical way.
That can support in increasing satisfaction level of uses (Anttila and Jussila, 2013). Thus
profitability of the organizations can get increased by conducting CSR activities in the
workplace. CSR takes many aspects into consideration such as economic, environment, human
rights etc. CSR is the initiatives of corporations for wellbeing of society and environment. Every
firm has senses of responsibility towards the community so they need to fulfill their duties and
have to concentrate on improving condition of environment and society. That can help in gaining
competitive advantage to the entities (Aversano, Grasso and Tortorella, 2016).
Present report is based on Torchbox company which is a website developer organization
for various NGOs, social reformer companies etc. Assignment will discuss the concept of
corporate social responsibility and its impact on profitability and sustainability of business units.
Tools and techniques of research methodologies will be described in this study.
TASK 1
P1 Project aims and objectives
The major aim of the project is to implement the CSR activities in the organisation
Torchbox. The CSR activities application within company will help in presenting the firm as a
responsible enterprise because of which the entity can get more success (Anttila and Jussila,
2013). Therefore, the aims and objectives in this scenario can be set in the following way:
Aim: ‘To implement the CSR activities within organisation to achieve sustainable objectives’.
Objectives
As per the above aim, several objectives can be created that will help in covering the
major aim of set out for Torchbox firm. The objectives in this sense can be set out in below
manner:
To have an understanding of CSR concept
To analyse the role of CSR activities in gaining the competitive advantages

To suggest the ways through which CSR activities can be applied to gain competitive
advantage and sustainable objectives.
P2 Project management plan
The project management plan is made to make a structure of the activities that will be
carried out in a systematic manner. The first step usually consists of an outline of the resources
needed to carry out the project. A Management Professional could be employed who will be
responsible to plan, design and execute the entire project (Aversano, Grasso and Tortorella,
2016). Further for performance of intended project, various resources are required to be planned
out, like time schedule , budget raw material , human capital and assessment of risk factors. With
the help of planning designed by considering all these factors will help in designing an ideal
project plan . As per the current scenario of implementing CSR activities, the project manager
will have to decide upon all the mentioned resources and target a schedule to ensure the
completion of project on time. Besides this he will also make a projection over risk factors so
that all the uncertain events can be prevented.

The work break down structure makes an effort to divide different activities into smaller
piece of works so as to make the entire project simple to be performed. Through work break
down, the project manager in Torchbox company can make the activity of CSR implementation
simple to be understood and implement within firm. Besides this, the Gantt chart is also a useful
chart that is used for explaining various works that will be performed within the project along
with the description of time that will be taken for each activity (Dale and et.al., 2013). Thus, the

managers said that the company’s investment towards the environment protection as the major

with customers and their employees for better CSR activity. While on other hand,

Company is facing in present time. According to various responses collected from the managers,
it is discovered that 60% of the managers said that less focus in CSR activities is the major issue
which is faced by the firm at present. Besides this, according to 20% managers another issue is
related with an imbalance in the ration of male and female workers within organization where
females are very less. The present ratio is 69:31. Apart from this, another issue is related with the
training and development of workers within enterprise as per 20% managers.

advantage. As per this analysis, it has been discovered that 60% managers believe that by
making various improvements in the environment, the company can present itself in better way
and attain competitive advantages. Besides this, about 20% managers believe that by giving
satisfaction to the clients and employees, the CSR implementation can be done in a better way to
achieve competitive advantage. In addition to this, the 20% managers believe that development
of good relations with society is the major step that can help in the attainment of competitive
advantages for firm.
P5 Research methodologies tools and techniques

topic. That helps the person in making sound decision and drawing a valid conclusion (Zhang
and Gregory,2011). Several tools and techniques of research methodologies are as following:
Research design: It is one of the important techniques that ensure that researcher have
used the relevant information in the study and these detail are sufficient to address
research problem. There are several types of designs which can be used in the research

project such as descriptive, semi experimental, experimental, review etc (Chang, 2016).
These all are having different nature and features. Present study is based on the CSR
activities for collecting information about importance of corporate social responsibility
scholar has used description research design. It is the tool that depends upon observation
and behavior of respondents. With the help of this technique investigator has gathered in
depth information about subject matter (Dale and et.al, 2013).
Research philosophy: it is another tool of research methodology that pay more attention

results can be find out on subject matter.
Data collection: It is very important part of research methodology, with the help of this
scholar can gather relevant information. For preparing a good report it is very important
to have correct and in depth information about subject matter (Zhang and Gregory,

2011). There are two ways of collecting the data; primary source and secondary source.
In the primary source first hand details are used, these are collected by investigator by
own through questionnaire or observation. Whereas in secondary source scholar used
already used details from books, journals, internet articles etc. With the support of these
techniques investigator can reach to end results and can find out the solutions of research
problems. In the present study scholar has taken support of primary source and data is
being gathered from managers of the cited firm through questionnaire (Aversano, Grasso
and Tortorella, 2016).
Data analysis: it is the systematic way of analyzing the information. It is one of the
essential phase of research methodology in which actual information is being evaluated
by scholar. Quantitative and qualitative are two main types of researches. In the
quantitative investigator analyses the detail through Z- test, SPSS etc. Whereas in the
qualitative research, data is evaluated through thematic analyses (Anttila and Jussila,
2013). In the present study scholar has used thematic analyses tool. Graphical
presentation is the great way of presenting the results. With the help of this scholar easily
show the results about CSR and its impact on business profitability and sustainability.
Ethical consideration: It is most important part of research methodology. In the present
study scholar has followed ethical guidelines and legislation. Individual has not
pressurized any one to give the answer (Chang, 2016). Scholar has developed good
relationship with respondents and they have shared their views by own. Investigator has
taken some information from books and journals but these details are not coped by the
scholar, individual has written these in its own language so that plagiarism can be
avoided (Dale and et.al, 2013).
Research limitation: While carrying out the study researcher has faced many problems.
Time was the main limitation in this study. CSR is the big topic and in small time
duration it was very difficult to conduct study and complete it. Scholar has faced
financial problems too because of unavailability of financial resource individual was
unable to use advanced software (Aversano, Grasso and Tortorella, 2016).

From the above study it can be articulated that corporate social responsibility is the main
aspect that can influence the business operations of an entity. It impacts positively on the
organization and helps in increasing profitability of the corporations. It is found that some
consumers do not know about the brand so by engaging in this activity cited firm will be able to

Recently poor sales causes because staff are not having proper knowledge and skills.
Thus, they fail to serve quality services to consumers. By giving those training cited firm

good report. I realized the importance of research planning and scheduling in the research
project. I got to know that with the help of good scheduling and sound planning can give
optimistic results and can find the outcome within stipulated time duration. While carrying out
the study I have improved my knowledge to great extent. I learned about project management. It
is the great concept that’s supports researcher in achieving goal of project soon. It frames aim
and objective and prepare time scale of each activity so that project can get completed on time.
The major purpose of the study was to identify the importance of corporate social
responsibility and its impact on business profitability and sustainability. I got to know that CSR
activities impact positive on business performances. I realized that by conducting CSR programs
in the workplace entities can gain loyalty of employees and customers. By this way they will
support for the growth of organization. Furthermore, I improved my knowledge about data
collection. It is an important tool and entire research is completely depends upon information
that is gathered by scholar. If individual fails to collect in depth information then it may not be
able to complete the research successfully. I learned that primary and secondary both are good
