INTRODUCTION
In order to manage a project from conception through completion project management is
the discipline of using established principles, procedures and polices (Svejvig and Andersen,
2015.). The challenge that is been faced by project management is that it have to achieve all the
goals of project in a given constraints. At the beginning of the development process this
information is usually described in project documentation.
Nisa is a small-scale retail company in UK. In this report a new digital technology will be
implemented in this company. The time and the cost that will be needed to implement this in
technology will be defined in this report. Furthermore, this report will also conduct both
qualitative and quantitative research to find out the impact of this technology on the business.
P1: Aims and objective
Background –Today more and more company's are making use of digital technology in their
business. In order to ease out their work and develop more satisfaction among customers the
digital technology is been used by the company. The digital technology such as cloud-computing
artificial intelligence, big data, social networking sites etc. are been used in business. The
benefits of using these technologies in the business are many as it saves both time and cost of
the company in order to conduct business (Palinkas and Hoagwoo, 2015). Small-scale
companies are also implementing this technology in their business in order to expand their
business son a broader platform and develop more satisfaction among customers and employees
working in the company.

Rational – The implementation of the new technology that is ERP system is important for the
business as it provides a solution to the problems that is being faced by company . Through
business automation it will provide better communication. To the business ERP bring a degree if
automation by allowing the employees in the organization to access the shared data without the

requirement of maintaining manual records. The job of each employees is made easier by
making use of ERP system. The workflow in the organization will be better and improved
through implementation of this new technology.
P2: Cost, scope, time, quality, communication, risk and the resources
Cost
Implementation cost - On the type of business the cost of implementing an ERP can be varied.
The estimated cost for the implementation of this new technology by the small-scale company
Nisa is about $10,000-$150,000. In the initial implementation there will be annual recurrent fees
to be paid that are not included (Nwankpa, 2015.).
Training cost – The training to the employees need to be given in the organization regarding this
ERP system as it is a complex software application. The cost of training will be around $10,000.
Maintenance cost – From IT the ERP system include the hardware, network and labour cost. So,
all these things need to be maintained properly. This may be about $12,000 as the company need
to maintain hardware, network and labour for this software.

Scope
The estimated budget for the implementation of ERP system in the company Nisa is
about $50,000 and the time that is being estimated in order to complete this project is till may
2018.The high-quality project will be delivered by taking into estimated time and budget for the
projects. The productivity will be more in the company as ERP will make the work of the
employees easier. While managing the sales and inventory efficiently this system will also keep
the customer satisfied (Mir and Pinnington, 2014.).
Time
The project will be started from February 2018 and it will be completed by the time of
around may 2018.During this time period all the work that is in related with the implementation
of ERP system will be done. That is training to the employees will be give, resources will be
allocated, work breakdown structure, estimation of cost, monitoring of this process, quality
checking etc. will be done. It is the duty of project manager to make sure that without any error
this project is implemented in the company.
Communication
The essence of the successful project management is effective communication. During
the project a project communication plan is a blueprint for communication project. To the right
person at the right time the plan should help to provide the right information in a format that
works for them.
Outlining the objective
During the project, the inputs will be taken from projct team in order to observe the
progress of the project. Within the estimated time and budget the project ned to be done. In this
project the role of stakeholder is also essential as all the details of the project will be checked by
them.
Audience
The information about this project need to be received to the stakeholder, project team,
project manager, external vendors etc..

External vendors- All the details regarding schedule, decision or any delays will be given to
them.
Methods used in the communication
Meeting – This will be held in between the project team and project manager five times in a
month. In the first meeting all the team members will get to know each other. And from the
second meeting the project will be discussed. In order to bring team together and solve issue
project meetings are a great way (Lin, Zhao and Wei, 2014).
E-mail – In order to motivate the team to have conversation with each other the E-mail can be
sued in the communication plan. This can be used by stakeholder and team members.
Presentation – In order to share the progress of the project with stakeholder and other people this
can be used.
Risk
 Wrong estimation of time and budget -The project will be failed if the product is not
completed in the estimated time and budget.
 Not proper training – If the proper training is not given to the employees then it will be
blunder to allow someone to make use of ERP software. The best use of this software
will not be made by the employees if the training is not proper.
 Timelines and project scheduling – In order to implement an effective ERP system many
business vastly underestimate the complexity and resources that are necessary to
complemented. The schedules are pushed back as they fail to plan for unpredictable
contingencies . This will affect the core strategic objective in the impersonation of ERP
system. This can be managed by establishing milestone and project team can develop
plans around (Kilic, Zaim and Delen, 2014).
 Not adequate change management procedures- In order to handle change order some
organization lack the formal methodology.
Resources
 By the organization in order to implement ERP system Request for proposals (RFP) is
drafted. To the prospective vendors it is been sent. On the major requirements the

company need to work on before sending this RFP. This will give a clear image to the
vendor about what the company is looking for.
 Regarding the implementation the vendor will come up with a detailed proposal based on
RFP and the understanding of the requirements. The hardware, software and manpower
that is needed by the company in order to implement ERP is mentioned in this proposal
(Ketokivi and Choi, 2014).
 Based on requirements and the respective hardware and software requirement the
vendors would suggest modules. The hardware components, dedicated servers and
cooling systems are required in the ERP system. The software and licences are also very
essential. About the robust serves to run the servers the ERP software vendor will suggest
the company .
Hardware requirements – One high performance Server computer with minimum 32GB RAM,
minimum 500 GB hard disk (Kilic, Zaim and Delen, 2014),
Software requirements- MS windows 2012 server operating system and MS SQL 2008 server
RDMS software
Network – Wired LAN or wireless technology
Quality
In order to evaluate that project meet out the needs and explantation of the stakeholders
the project quality managements will be used. It will help in this project to deliver high-quality
project to the company. When the project only pay attention only on the meeting the written
requirements then it can be one of the cause of poor quality as the needs of customers and
stakeholders are not met (Hussein, 2015). In order to deliver a project , project quality plan will
be used in order to describe the tools, activities and processes. In the project the quality
assurance is on the process. In order to product quality project deliverables the quality assurance
ensures that project process are used effectively. The project is termed as a high-quality project
when it meets out the expectation of the project.
ERP system and its importance
ERP system is an acronym for enterprise resource planning. By breaking down the barriers
between business unit ERP helps the employees to do their job. In terms of backned office
operations,a counting and inventory management an essential role is being played by an ERP

system. The multiple user interface is supported by today's ERP system .In order to embrace new
technologies like machine learning the ERP vendors and providers are doing their optimum best.

This will divide the complex project into simple and manageable task .In order to
simplify the execution of the project this method is used by the project manager (Hornstein,
2015.).
Gantt chart
This will represent the schedule of the pro jct. In the project it will help to plan, coordinate and
track specific tasks.

P4:Conducting research
This will help to conduct research on the implementation of the ERP system in the
company in an efficient way. The research that will be done will be useful to gain in depth
knowledge on those topics.
Research approach -These are of two types that inductive and deductive. The inductive research
will be used in this research in order to gain proper understanding on the advantages of using
ERP system in business.
Research philosophy- Theses are of tow types that is interpretivism and positivism. As
interpretivism is related with qualitative research so in this it will be used ans also it fits bets for
inductive research
Research design- In order to describe this research in detail the descriptive research will be used
in this.
Data collection methods – They are of two type that is primary and secondary data collection.
In this both will be used. The questionnaire will be made in order to conduct primary research.
And book, journal, internet ,magazines etc. will be used in secondary data collection.
Research analysis – They are of two types that is qualitative and quantitative. In this the
qualitative research will be used and thematic style will be applied to it. In the thematic style the
themes are be made (Efe, 2016).
Ethical considerations – The privacy of information was maintained and no information that
was given by any participant as leaked or discussed with another. The freedom was given to
everyone to represent their view or idea regarding this research
