BUSINESS COMMUNICATION
Post 1: Critique on Peer Post
This post talks about the significance of and important factors related to internal
communication in any organization. It describes the exact role internal communication plays in
the successful operations. It discusses the flow of information along the chain of command in the
structure of the firm. It also highlights how the success of a proper and efficient internal
communication structure can help regulate the employees’ organizational and make them feel
valued and empowered. It focuses on the components of clarity, channel and flow of
communication and attention and shows the distinct role of each component in the proper
completion of a communication process (Ahmad, 2016). The post is comprehensive and covers
nearly all aspects of corporate communication.
However, there are a few factors that may be pointed out: In the context of flow of
communication, the post mentions “proper flow of command down the organizational structure”.
Communication, is a two-way process, which means that as command flows down the structure,
feedback must also flow up. In fact, in an organization, communication needs to flow in all
directions, both vertical and lateral, that is, between employees of the same rank and
departments. The component of multi-directional communication is absent. Another component
that should have been included is the nature of the channel of communication. Emphasis is laid
on the importance of a proper channel of flow and chain of command, but misses out on the
medium of information transmission: whether written or verbal or electronic. The nature of the
medium plays a vital role in the composition and reception of the message (Quirke, 2017).
The post also misses out on the necessity of a common context and language between the
sender and receiver of the communication. Without the mutual understanding of the context and

language, communication will remain incomplete. Furthermore, the discussed components could
be understood better under the context of examples, which is missing.
Post 2: Learning Summary
Communication is a critical component in very organization, office, corporate department
and the like. Irrespective of the nature of the job, communication is a binding factor without each
every major and minor component in an organization would fall apart. No wing, department,
section or individual employee functions completely autonomously in an organization: command
and feedback are necessary for all operations to be successfully executed (Mirsha & Boynton,
2017). The key points of the discussion forum are:
An organized internal communication is essential for the systematic transmission of
instructions as well as creation of a healthy and harmonious organizational culture that
empowers employees.
Clarity is one of the most important characteristics of successful communication. The
message should be clear and understandable, devoid of any un-required information. The
sender and receiver must have a clear idea about the content of the message.
Attention of the receiver for receiving the message is also important, particularly in
systems which do not have a delivery confirmation system after the receipt of the
message.
A systematic channel of flow, which follows the chain of command, is required for the
proper and timely transmission of the message.
The discussion helps readers have a clear understanding of effective business
communication. It helps to build awareness regarding the clarity of the message and the

importance of removing unwanted information, which is not requisite to the main context of the
message. Messages should be kept short and precise adhering to the main subject of
communication. They should be strong and significant in order to capture the attention of the
receiver.
For example: A message regarding transfer of an employee from one branch to another
should only comprise of transfer details and basic employee details. The main objective should
be to identify the employee and note that he is being shifted from his department of the previous
branch to the requisite department in the new branch (Juneja, 2015). Details should include time,
date, address and the person to report to.
