Introduction
Person-cantered practice assists to provide best quality service to the user as the decision is taken
according to the health status of the user. In time of providing service, effective policy and
principles related to healthcare setting need to be followed. As a senior carer of Akari Care,
reflection will be provided on the personal experience for applying person-centric approach,
which is linked with practice themes. Gibb’s reflective cycle will be used in order to conduct
this report.

Introduction

1. Description [P5]
In time of working as a senior carer in Akari Care, I have provided care to a dementia patient
(Mr. John), who had high blood pressure and neuron disease. He was 59 years old. In addition to
this, I have to give support to the patient (Miss. Clara), who was suffering from isolation and as
a result, she was depressed. She was a young girl of 25 years old. Therefore, as commented by
Bolton (2014), in time of providing support, it is necessary to main equality and anti-
discriminatory practice for earning proper result. As a senior carer, in order to handle my
workload I have tried to create a plan according to which, I provided the service. Moreover, I
spent quality time with them and hear their issues so that they feel free in the care home.
Many a times, due to lack of experience, I could not understand the way of managing Mr. John,

find out my gap in this field and tried to manage it by taking help of my senior colleague in

maintenance of dignity and supporting the values and belief of the user during providing

John, as he was suffering from dementia, he could not be able to follow my instruction properly,
whereas, Clara heard my words. However, as per the knowledge of practice theme 1 and 2, I
need to behave politely and give importance equally with every user for maintaining equality.
Many a times, I felt frustrated to provide support to John as he was not able to recover and I lost
my patience. By following theme 3, I was aware of their activity and thus, I tried to follow the

developed an action plan and understood that every skill can be achieved with 3 months.
Therefore, these are short terms goals. The first goal is to develop effective communication

meeting so that relationship can be build. Moreover, I will negotiate with my seniors in the free
time related to work. It will help me to enhance my knowledge in this field. I will monitor my
progress by asking feedback from the colleagues as well as higher authorities. I will try to
constantly develop my knowledge related to ethical practice and legislation so that I can develop
my skills. Thus, by following the action plan, skills can be improved and it will help the social
care setting to increase its reputation in market.

In time of concluding this portion, action plan can be followed for achieving appropriate result.
As I have communication and time management issue, I need to create plan for solving this
issue. As I was impatient, I will meditate for removing it. Developing negotiation and decision-
making skills, appropriate support can be provided and in return, it will help to increase the

However, most of the cases, I do not have life experience, hence; I have developed the goal of
sharing knowledge with seniors. Thus, I will try to note down the incident and information so
that further in context of same case, I can handle easily. Thus, time can be managed and it will
help the users to get on time service. Relationship with co-workers can be developed in order to
build a good working atmosphere in the venture. As I was new in the venture, I could not express
my issues to the higher authorities. Therefore, by keeping in mind, I will try to attend all
meeting so that relationship can be build. Moreover, I will negotiate with my seniors in the free
time related to work. It will help me to enhance my knowledge in this field. I will monitor my
progress by asking feedback from the colleagues as well as higher authorities. I will try to
constantly develop my knowledge related to ethical practice and legislation so that I can develop
my skills. Thus, by following the action plan, skills can be improved and it will help the social
care setting to increase its reputation in market.
Conclusion
In time of concluding this portion, action plan can be followed for achieving appropriate result.
As I have communication and time management issue, I need to create plan for solving this
issue. As I was impatient, I will meditate for removing it. Developing negotiation and decision-
making skills, appropriate support can be provided and in return, it will help to increase the
satisfaction level of the users.
