1.0 Self-reflection on personal learning and development as well as transferable skills
1.1 Identification and reflection on personal learning and development
Personal learning and development is activity which identifies the objectives of the individual
and help in growing in the areas which need improvement. It provides a way to the people for
utilization of full potential. It is a continuous process that starts from a young age and
continue until the old age. It makes the individual learn new skills and gain relevant
knowledge to grow in future as a person (Chye, 2021). It develops a sense of curiosity to
gather information, analyzing the existing qualities and enhance these qualities by continuous
learning. I will grow myself both in a professional and personal manner, under the guidance
of personal learning and development. It is important for me to discover the skills which I am
lacking to be able to enhance my current ability. This will help me in increasing my potential
to perform various tasks and assignments. When I studied this module in depth, I realise that
personal learning and development involves different activities that helps in enhancing the
existing qualities and capabilities. This will also provide assistance in achieving the
objectives and targets which I have set. I have understood that both the formal and informal
action plans are of great significance in developing my career in business and management.
This will assist me in providing satisfaction in work, increase maturity and in achieving
success in life. PDP will help me in analyzing the areas on which I need to focus on and also
provide ways to enhance the current skills and knowledge. From this, I will be able to do
anything in life which I want to. I have realized that most of the people do not do well in the
career since they do not pay the required attention on the areas which needs improvement. I
am ready to focus on every area which need improvement and development. This will help
me in gaining specialization in a particular field. I need to prepare an effective action plan
and follow it on daily basis for getting improvement in my skills and knowledge. It will assist
me to achieve the best results in the future (Cleveland, 2018). Therefore, I have realized that
this personal development and learning will provide me a direction for achieving my
objectives. I will be able to reach and utilize my maximum potential.
1.2 Transferable skills I have developed already
Skills is the set that an individual possess for operating a business organization with aim of
reaching the predetermined goals and objectives. As there is selection of my career in the
business and management, I need to concentrate in the fields that I want to grow and develop

along with improvement for reaching the goals and objectives (WONG and YAU, 2019).
During various sessions, I have realized that there are several skills that are already there in
me for becoming a good businessman. Most important skills that are already there and I have
built regarding my career in business and management are as described below:
 Communication skills: it is very important to have effective communication skill as
it needed for putting opinions and perspectives of an individual in front of others. My
career can be build and grow with this aim. I am here in the chosen field for
understanding that I have fluency in my communication skills while talking with
others to convince them along with my own perspectives (Cope and Murray, 2018). I
developed this skill during my sessions, that as I preferred more to interact with
people like my mentors and classmates. I also have tried to do more interactions with
others that have helped me in developing my listening skills.
 Team management skills: It is a difficult task to develop career in business and
management as a business manager, there are people involved who come from
different culture, traditions and backgrounds. I have realized the value of effective
team work for achieving these common goals in future. I have developed team
management skills while attending this, by being a part in several group activities.
1.3 Skills I would like to develop during my academic studies
Some skills that I would like to develop in me during attending sessions:
Decision-making skills: These skills are important to be a great leader in the organization. I
would like to have decision making skills within me as it will make me more confident and
these will guide me in taking effective decisions (Hamilton, 2020). I will also be able to
solve various issues with the help of this skill that will arise. Overall, it will facilitate me with
confidence to address problems.
Leadership skills: This skill is important for motivating and inspiring followers and people
in business. This skill, I would like to develop for making strategic plan for entity and for
motivating employees and team members for reaching the common goals of entity.
Time-management skills: This skill is very important as it has helped me in doing my job
and other work on time. It also helped in completing my tasks and projects that too within
specified deadlines. I will become more productive and effective by developing this skill at
my work (Olaniyi, 2020). It will authorize and guide me in accomplishing proper utilization
of time more wisely with the development of this skill.
