Why I want to be an Officer
I am writing in response to the recently advertised opportunity to enroll in the Army
Officers Program for this year. I am currently an enlisted officer since September 22nd, 2010
having graduated from high school in 2009. I am 27 years old and specialized as a petroleum
supply personnel although I am acting in the capacity of a detailed army recruiter.
I have previously worked at several stations including Fort Steward in Georgia, Wheeler
Army Airfield in Hawaii and currently placed at Loa Angeles, Ca. As an army recruiter, I am
entrusted to perform a number of responsibilities including determining the eligibility of the
enlisted applicants, preparing enlistment applications, guiding applicants on enlistment options
and programs, processing of qualified applicants for enlisting in the army, preparing the new
recruits for trainings, and to conduct and enact the Army awareness programs.
My current placement has helped me to gain excellent skills and competency in matters
related to recruitment. It has also enabled me to mingle and works with different types of people
and even persevere in the face of challenging working situations. During my working, I have
come into terms with the need for leadership which is an essential tool in the majority of the
Army’s operations. For example, I am sometimes assigned to work with a huge and diverse team
of workers and I can attest that it is not easy for anybody without leadership skills.
For this reason, my desire to pursue leadership has influenced the decision to apply for an
opportunity to enroll in the Army Officers’ program. My greatest dream is to give my best in the
army and this can only be achieved through learning leadership skills. I wish to have a different
experience and a test of my commitment by working at a higher rank position and in some of the
most challenging positions. I believe that I am an agent of change that our country requires today

to transform the operations in the army. I look forward to serving the country and the people in
the best way possible.
I believe that my skills, experience, and abilities place me in a better position for
enrolment in the Army Officer's program. I also look forward to making my dream come true in
regard to acquiring leadership and adapting skills that I can apply in the work. I am committed to
dedicating all my energy, resources, and time to do the best once I am enrolled in the program. I
will abide by the program’s rules, conditions, and all the stipulations. Of the essence is to gain
skills and experience that will guide me in steering the transformations within the army so that
we can continue being the strongest and most powerful army in the history of the United States. I
will highly appreciate if you kindly consider my application for the Army Officers program. I am
