Respected Sir,
I feel honored to apply for PhD course at University of Canterbury. Since, I started pursuing
my Master’s program; I aimed to take up PhD program at the reverend University. Its successful
PhD professionals and guides enable students to gain success in the program. It is one of the
most reputed Universities that offers Doctoral work in Operations, Logistics and Supply chain
management. I want to pursue my research work Supply chain Resilience. I have successfully
completed Master’s program with high marks. I have tremendous interests to pursue further
studies and obtain a PhD degree.
I want to study the degree at the University due to its successful records and industry integrated
course, that offers students application skills.
(a) Why research is important?
The research once concluded will be able to make tremendous impacts to the field of
supply chain management, as it will be directly applicable in the industry. I have
knowledge in areas of Management and hence I want to apply the same to research work.
Logistics and Supply Chain is an emerging domain of management that has capacity to
extend further to benefit the industry. As globalized workplaces develop it becomes more
and more critical to obtain resilience in logistic and supply chain I feel my research work
can make contribution to the industry. I select to study in New Zealand as it is emerging
to a global hub for various businesses, especially SMEs. My research work could have a
direct impact on SMEs. Post completion of PhD, I aim to apply my researched skills into
business.
(b) How it relates to existing discussions?
Supply chain is a developing domain of study, where continuous endeavor is required for
enhancing knowledge and scope. Current scope of research will further add to the domain
and make immense contributions in advancing current levels of research works.
(c ) What makes it sufficiently broad, deep and original for PhD works?

There has been immense discussion in the area of supply Chain Resilience. But my PhD
works will aim to analyse impacts such resilience can render in the field of fast fashion
industry. Though there has been research in the same domain but the uniqueness of my
research will be aimed at analysis of fast fashion industry in New Zealand. As this
industry is huge, deep research work that is broadly based needs to be conducted.
My research work will help contribute to the University research in a positive manner, as
I will to integrate various management functionality with those of logistics and supply
chain management. I am extremely hard-working an committed, hence I do not easily
give up. As research is a long term activity, I feel as a student I can easily maintain my
motivation levels. If I am given an opportunity I will leave no stones unturned to prove
my worth to the University.
