The hospitality industry has wide scope throughout the world as this comprises of
various roles such as food & beverage, hotel and so on. To perform various tasks
under this industry requires necessary set of skills to become successful and
specialised. Some of skills are listed down below:
Flexibility skills- Employees working under hospitality industry must be
flexible with working hours as they don't have fixed hours of work. It is
very much important to remain flexible while fulfilling respective job
responsibilities.
Communication skills- These skills are highly valuable in hospitality
industries as here employees, managers have to face people from various
backgrounds, nations, ages, and nature. So, it’s important that everyone
have ability to communicate effectively and efficiently.
Multi-tasking skills- This industry has wide scope so it is having very
hectic schedules and to manage work properly and efficiently individuals
must have competencies to many tasks other than their job profile. And this
helps individuals in becoming knowledgeable and specialised in various job
roles in hospitality industry. Also fruitful for future promotions and career
options.
There is shortage of skills in hospitality sector at global level and this is one
of biggest challenge. There is shortage of skills because of high rate of turnover,
lack of team morale, less people centric industry and many more. These shortage of
skills can be overcome by addressing to cultural issues, training programmes and
learning sessions by their team leaders. There is requirement for continuous
innovation in product line to have the ability to compete at marketplace but lack of
