INTRODUCTION
Social media refers to means of interactions among group of people in which they, share,
exchange and create information as well as ideas. It helps to connect individuals to each other
and make good relations. The present report is based on social media and its positive and
negative aspect on internet. It justified challenges and measure of security and privacy that are
taken into consideration when social media services are used online. Furthermore, this study
clarified two examples of social media, compare its features & applications and also explain their
suitability in context of business.

Contrast positive and negative aspects of social media on internet
Internet is worldwide area network that connects computer based systems across the
world, it has many essential applications (Arora, Thirumalaiappan and Miranda, 2019). Social
media are interactive internet based applications that facilitate sharing and creation of
information, thoughts and other forms of expression via virtual networks and communities. It
facilitates development of online social networks by connecting range of users profile with those
of other people or individuals.
There are some positive aspects of social media on internet-
Information sharing-
Social media is the best way to share information, because it is computer based
technology it helps to share data and info easily and faster in way. Users share it that shows up
on their new feed without checking to assure information is truth full and accurate. This online
service are used by many people which makes it easier for them to spread info (Siddiqui and
Singh, 2016).
One of the biggest positive aspect of this application is that is has never been easier to
make new friends, it was quite tough to connect with people. But with social media application
it is very easy to connect and share data from different location, its network changes the whole
idea of friendship.
Social media put positive impact on internet, it helps to create positive digital footprint
and search outcomes. It is a greater way for people to shine online, present their unique
personality and have ownerships over their finding outcomes. By design, it gives users quick
electronic communication of content, include personal documents, data, videos and other things.

My space is one of the best social media network that allows creating personalized wall and
visiting digital wall of likes or dislikes. As discussed by Akram and Kumar, (2017) by positing
pictures and videos on social networking sites, information is shared effectively. Currently
Twitter, Facebook and Instagram are few of the more famous websites that increase traffic. It
helped maximize information and communication travel across borders and internationally. Uses
of this service are varied, but they do have common goal, the main aim of social media is to
share.
Easy to access-
Social media is easy to access and operate, without making efforts anyone can use this
service and acquire information for different purpose. Users engage with social media via tablet,
computer or smart phone via web based applications and software often utilize it for messaging.
It is very easy to check social media quickly while communicate, on a train to work and even
walking into meeting. It is very essential part of being included in today's community, social
media helps to connect, receive data from different applications and share the latest news with
others.
Negative aspects of social media-
Lack of human interactions-
On the other hand, along with positive social media had some negative aspect. Lack of
human interactions is one of the negative aspect of this service on internet, without close
interaction information sharing process will be risky. It leads to fears of decline of face to face
interactions. According to Vriens and van Ingen, (2018) while using social media sites the
quality of in person social interactions will decreases, it does not make strong positive impact on
future social connections. It affects the ability to communicate, social media decrease the chance
of face to face interaction which does not build effective relationship.
Misuse of internet-
In recent time, internet is used unethically, internet abuse is increased more and more, it
refers to improper use of social media and other internet based applications. Unnecessary data
will upload on networking sites that hidden the essential information relate to employment.
Lack of reliable information-
Social media is considered as source of information, due to lack of reliable information it
makes negative impact on collecting data for different purpose (Oberst and et.al., 2017). Without

Users face challenges of managing their social identity while compromising social
privacy (Jabee and Alam, 2016). It is quite difficult to manager personal profile while using
online social media services, some times personal identity were stolen by identity thieves when
having accounts on highest security settings, there are still ways for identify thief to obtain
personnel information. Most online services have data that is needed such as Birthday or email
address. It is easy for thief to hack an email account by using social data. For example, general
techniques to get personal data is by clicking on forgot password and try to recover info through
email. Once identify thief has access to email account, they get access to all data on personal
social networking sites. Identity fraud or theft happens when thief gain access and uses that data

or products within target market place effectively. Marketing activities that will cost thousands

some advantages include brand awareness, it is one of the biggest social media site in the world,

On the other hand, Twitter is also suitable for business, it is another social media or

From above analysis, it has been concluded that social media has some positive and
negative aspect. While using social media sites there are many challenges faced by individual,
but with the help to apply appropriate measures privacy has been maintained. Strong password
on social media accounts decrease the risk of being hacked by hackers. Facebook and Twitter
both are suitable for business as it helps to gain attention of new consumers and spread
information within market for job vacancy.
