Title-“Handling Employee Pushback during Digital Transformation.”
Background of Study
In the business world, the companies that have been undergoing changes because of the
transformation of the companies from manual to the use of the digital technologies go through
the problems like handling the employee pushback. The digital technology for years has
contributed to the growth of the quality and quantity of services that are provided to the
customers. It has become very important to be technologically developed and sound to gain the
competitive advantage in this changing business market. The society has adopted the digital
technology and is growing at a fast pace. The management has to decide on many areas before
choosing the type of technology in their organization or the company. The main issue that arises
with the digital transformation of the company is the employee pushback and is very prominent
once the business is transformed into the digital technology (Radwan, 2017). In the initial years
of transforming, the workforce has much work burden and due to the human nature where the
humans are not comfortable with the change in their routine comes up and the employee
pushback arises or starts as they have the fear that they will have to sacrifice their jobs as
advanced equipment and machines can work faster than the human beings. It is very difficult to
handle the employee pushback for the companies. This study is basically focused on handling
the employee pushback during the digital transformation of the company (Saini and Khurana,
2015). For example, in the big companies, the entrance gate has cameras and security checks
and alerts that are digitally managed and controlled and are digitally equipped and there is no
requirement for the human beings or gatekeepers. Same way, for the Specsavers the research is
conducted on the employee pushback during the digital transformation. It is important to

M1. Produce a comprehensive project management plan, milestone schedule and project
schedule for monitoring and completing the aims and objectives of the project.
The project management plan should be comprehensive and effective because the whole research
is done according to the project management plan that is developed at the beginning of the
research. The project management plan should be clear and the clarity helps in rectifying the
errors and mistakes that occur during the completion of the project (Hoffer, et. al., 2015). The
action plan is formulated to aid the project management plan and is a tabular presentation of the
whole project management plan. The Gantt chart and the work breakdown structure are the
graphical representation of the whole management plan. The researcher needs to complete all
the important steps of management plan before starting the research and collecting the data. The
work should be distributed according to the required time and resources so that the efficiency is
maintained along with the cost (Lok and He, 2017). The whole research should be within the
budget and should be completed according to the given timeframe. Milestone schedule is very
important part of the whole research project management plan.

M2. Evaluate the accuracy and reliability of different research methods applied.
The qualitative and quantitative research methods are considered best and accurate methods for
the research projects while conducting the research in a big organization like Specsavers where
the employee pushback is quite significant. This research is in accordance with the theme that is
a problem of employee pushback with the digital transformation in the organization (Halibozek
and Kovacich, 2017). There are various methods that researchers use for reliability and accuracy
and among them, the method of primary and secondary data collection is also done via journals,
books, face-to-face interviews, surveys, etc. For the accurate analysis of the research, a
qualitative method is adopted throughout the research.

D1. Critically evaluate the project management process and appropriate research
methodologies applied.
The whole process if developed and implemented under the guidance of an expert will give
excellent and efficient results, therefore, it is very important that the whole project is started and
until its completion is managed under experts guidance (Grayson and Hodges, 2017). The
research should be done stepwise and all the steps should be clear and comprehensive so that
efficiency is maintained. Qualitative and quantitative research methodologies are used in this
research project. No manipulation of data should be done and accuracy and efficiency should be
maintained throughout the whole research management process. The sampling method is
applied to this project. The researcher has used appropriate data collection for the analysis and
the methodology was assisted with the help of qualitative and quantitative methods (Harvey and
Allard, 2015). It was very much necessary and important that all the activities that were done
should be identified and therefore the work breakdown structure also helped in keeping a check
on the measures that were taken to complete the whole project in time, which helped in
successful completion of the research and therefore all the activities done throughout the
research were commendable and have given the effective and efficient results (Butler and
Wilson, 2015).

P5 Analyse research and data using appropriate tools and techniques.
For the qualitative research technique, a questionnaire is projected and analysis is done according
to the answers received for the questions. The questionnaire is distributed among the employees
of different organizations and their views are taken in the form of the answers received (Brand,
et. al., 2016). The main topic for the questionnaire was handling employee pushback during the
digital transformation of the Specsavers. About 100 employees were chosen for the
questionnaires who work in different organizations and at different posts. Through this method
of sampling questionnaire and collecting data, it allowed a better understanding of the theme of
this project.

M4. Evaluate the value of the project management process and use of qualitative research
to meet stated objectives and support own learning and performance.
The project management process has achieved the goals that were set for the research project.
The objectives that were set for the project are for the year 2018-19 and need efficient and
effective tools and techniques for achieving them which were used in this project management
process (Hillson, 2017). The quality needs to be maintained throughout the project research.
The important aspect of this research is that it has helped tremendously in achieving the

and changes or developments of the initial project management plan to support
justification of recommendations and learning during the project.
The whole project management plan was developed and implemented under the guidance of the
experts that have helped in achieving the project outcomes efficiently and effectively. The
quality was maintained throughout the project and effective tools and techniques were used for
the project so that the outcome and the results be effective and accurate, which has been
maintained and established. All the formal documents were drafted and accurately filed before
the starting of the project to minimize the errors for the project. All the activities were planned
and everything went as per the plan and the little bit changes were done which increased the
accuracy and efficiency of the project (Trevino and Nelson, 2016). The recommendations
provided for the project were completely based on the outcome of the survey and other
qualitative methods that were used for the project processing. The outcomes were based on the
effective decisions that were taken during and before the starting of the project. The researcher
has been compliant with all the efficacy in the data and this has led in eliminating the
manipulative decisions in the outcomes, therefore the outcomes were accurate and efficient
which proves the efficacy of the research (Ward, 2016).
