INTRODUCTION
Business operations and strategy management is crucial in order to sustain the business
towards profitability and production. The report will cover the strategic framework of operations
management and factors which shape the operational management effectively. The role of
operations in the context of business will be discussed in this report.
TASK 1
1 Strategic framework of operations management
Operational framework can be describe as a guide for the business strategies, policies,
standards, goals, training and procedures effectively and efficiently. The framework will help to
business to promote corporate culture and identity within the business. An effective operational
framework and management also consider principles of government and set values and divisions
in the business effectively.
Organisation: The operational framework helps to demonstrate management structure and
corporate firm. This will involve the leaders responsibilities towards managing and controlling
teams and divisions within the firm. The framework may set the management levels by the
department heads and managers.
Policies: The strategic operational framework outline the policies and strategies made by the
firm. This will include the principles of guiding on promotional activities, employment and
behaviour effectively (Akalin, Huang and Willems, 2016). Policies and strategies are also made
for the employees in order to work in the firm and manage the work. Policies regarding
employees obligations, business operations and management will be made by the management or
manager in order to bring the operational framework effectiveness.
Process: The operational framework will help to set guidelines for the business planning and
audit effectively. The procedures to manage the workflow and policies is also allocated to the
business divisions. The procedures also include the particular information to hire, facilitate
management and consumer relationship effectively and efficiently (Woerner and Wixom, 2015).
Multiple framework: It can be said that business have more than one operational framework. A
framework can be developed by firm in order to achieve a particular target or goal effectively.
Innovative, green and sustainability framework are the different levels where an organisation
make changes in their policies,, plans, management and changes to achieve the growth and

2 Design factors and alternatives to shape operational management
There are different elements, factors and strategies involved in operations management in
order to improve the performance of organisation which leads towards profitability and
production effectively. Every organisation wants to improve their operational activities from
which they can expand their business activities (Van der Wagen and Goonetilleke, 2015).
Strategies and plans involved in shape of operations management are discussed below:
Global view: The organisation is leading in the global market Oak Pub Huddersfield. The firm
should provide good and quality products. Supply chain should be improved and labour, tariffs,
taxes should be reduced (McCormack and Johnson, 2016).
Provide quality to customers: The business should provide quality products and services in
order to increase the sales which will enhance the productivity and profitability effectively.
Taking advantage of locations and new markets the firm is able to provide next level of quality
services to the customers in the market.
Improve supply chain: The supply chain is the main part of any organisation in order to achieve
the success in terms of achieving objectives and goals. Improvement in supply chain will help to
increase the sales for the firm which enhance the production and profits effectively and
efficiently.
Improve operations: Customer preferences and perception is crucial for the firm in order to
gain revenues from which operational activities can be managed effectively and efficiently.
Employees comes in the part of operations that the skills and knowledge of workers should be
improved in order to manage the operational activities effectively which leads towards
profitability (Tornjanski, Marinkovic and Jancic, 2017).
Six Sigma: Improving processes using a data-driven approach is an innovation of Motorola from
mid-1980. It’s still among the trends of impact because it is a quality-improvement and cost-
reducing method that focuses on customer satisfaction.

3 Role of operations within a range of business organisations
Operation management is responsible for managing and controlling different activities in
the firm related to the production of products and services effectively. The operational process,
performance improvement, operational strategy, plans and policies are also the responsibilities of

Asset management: Organisation should manage its assets such as land, buildings, equipments
and stock involved in the support of operational management activities effectively. The effective
management of asset will help to produce more profitability for the firm (Park and Hyeun, 2015).
Cost management: Cost of producing goods and services related to the cost required to acquire
resources effectively. Operational management will also help to manage the cost of products and
services offered by the firm in the market towards customers.
Operational management is defined as a operation or design to improve the process and
system of production (Sekaran and Bougie, 2016). The operational resources consist five P of
operational management such as:
People are the direct or indirect workforce
Plants include factories or service branches where production is carried out
Parts includes the material or supplies that go through the system
Processes includes equipment and steps by which production is carried out
Planning and Control system are the procedures and information management used to
operate the system
CONCLUSION
It can be concluded from the above report that strategic framework is important for the
operational management in order to improve the performance of employees at work place
effectively. This will lead towards profitability and production as well. There are many factors
which will help to shape the operational management in the firm. Operations are also important
for the firm in order to improve the profits.
