Key historical developments in

the travel and tourism sector

The industry of travel and tourism

has grown with change of human

inclination towards tourism and

the rise of expectations.

Back in early
1945, when travel
and tourism had just begun with

industrial revolution. Widely the

travel then was done for sole

purpose of transporting and

extracting goods and services

forth and back from cities and

countries. There also have been

times, when travel has been solely

dedicated to pilgrimage tours,

cultural visits, and significant

religious relevance.

Great change occurred between

1945-1979
. It began with small
scale individual businessmen

expanded and inclined towards

engaging integrated activities.

Hotels were being filled up with

people looking for more than

mere accommodation. So the

development of hotels began into

shopping arcades and then into

secretarial centres in order to

manage and accommodate people

within hotel complex.

Contemporary to this,

transportation sector and

mediums began to boon. There

have been turning factors since

1960, coming into notice, like

availability of time to spend on

travelling, rising interest of

travellers in long-leisure leaves,

growth of per capital income of

people, enriched and fulfilling

Services that are conjoined with

numerous other activities

beginning from travelling and

accommodation to hotel stay and

hospitality services etc.
