Introduction:
This report is based on travel and tourism sector for grabbing the employment opportunity at
Travelodge hotel. It includes responsibilities of manager of creating a familiar background for
employees and try to improve the profit and market value of the company. Being a manager of
the Travelodge, it is necessary to identify information related to time management and the
problem of employees. It includes the manager's own experience about the company and
responsibilities with respect to defined objectives. A manager wants to lead the employees and
has an attractive body language. Manager communicates with the staff and clients which results
in excellent communication skills. This assessment contains a different role of the team in the
organization and shows the advantage and use of teamwork. The main aim of this project is to
define problems which are generating at the workplace and finding the best solution for those
problems.

1.1: Develop a set of own responsibilities and performance objectives
Travel company includes various roles and responsibilities and being a travel manager in
Travelodge, I have to offer excellent services to customers. Travelodge is UK based private
company which deals in hotels and hospitality. My responsibilities are to manage a team and
communicates with clients to offers desired services. The manager is a responsible person at any
company and performs responsibilities such are as follows:
Teamwork: Teamwork is an efficient approach to achieve desired objectives and helps in
managing process. I worked with my team members and employees of the company to provide
support through motivating towards their work and responsibilities. The manager wants to
provide a clear idea about job and workplace activities to employees so they work properly.
Manager leads a team as a good leader and handles employees by his own thinking (Scerbo,
2018).
Communication: Good communication skills are needed to communicate with the employee. It
makes me able to discuss my idea with the staff of the company. According to me, good
communication skill is required to reduce risk in any company and provide understanding
between employees.
Creative Thinking: The manager New and unique ideas are required to make a good profit for
the company. Creativity is key to success for the company. It is providing help to solve a
problem and provide a better environment among employees.
Positive attitude: According to me manager wants a positive attitude because it is providing
help in an emergency condition. A manager needs quality to handle any condition in an easy
manner.
Know right and ethics: According to me, the manager is having some knowledge about
commercials like accounting and taxes. Other skills like attractive personality, leading capability,
and knowledge of the market also have by the manager (Zander, 2018).

I have good communication skills which provide help for me to communicate with employees. I
have some knowledge about rights and taxes which is helpful for me at work. My performance
as a manager in the Travelodge is better due to the above skills. Further, I used SMART
objectives which is helpful in developing employee engagement with specific and attainable
objectives:
Specific: The objective should be precise and clear to accomplish the desired goals of
Travelodge. I have defined set objectives for each employee for avoiding misunderstanding.
Measurable: I have set the measurable objective for employees which results in tracking the
performance of employees.
Attainable: It is necessary to develop attainable objectives which boost the performance of
employees with standard goals.
Relevant: The objectives must have relevancy with the goals to match the long-term desired
goals in an organization.
Time management: I have set the priorities of work and informed all employees to manage time
with urgent and deadlines work.

1.2: Evaluate own effectiveness against defined objectives
Being a manager at Travelodge I have defined objectives to the employees and team members. I
introduced some feature and technique to improve the environment and efficiency of the
employees. I developed effective communication with employees which helps to track their
performance and professional behaviour. The effectiveness of the manager against defined
objectives are:
Training and development: training and development is an effective way of developing
communication which helps in building relationship among employees. This results in effective
managing of the team and directs me to achieve set goals (Morrison, et. al., 2019).
Delegation of Authority: I have distributed all the responsibilities among the employees for
Because according to me every employee knows their responsibility. It provides help for work in
an easy way and work is done on time.
Decision-making and problem-solving skills: Being a manager at Travelodge, I resolve the
conflicts among employee to manage team work. Further, decision-making helps in attracting
customers through fulfilling their specifications (Klostermann, et. at, 2018).
I am also working on myself for improving effective personality and make an effective
environment at workplace. Therefore, I evaluated my internal and external effect to measure own

1.3: Make recommendations for improvement
For improvement in employees work recommendations are such as:
Time management: Employees are coming late and work is not done within time. There
is a need to conduct a meeting for aware disadvantage of time wasting and also showing
the importance of time management (Boss et al, 2019).
Meeting goals: I have provided a specific goal for entire employees but at current they
are not fulfilling their goal. After introducing this scheme almost 80 percent of employees
are work with their goal.
Every employee must be directed to achieve goals and contribute to the success of
Travelodge.
Emphasize the role of time work to employees and also shows them that it is necessary
for doing work at on time.
Learning new skills is beneficial for employees because it enlarges the thinking of
employees. It also creates creative ideas for work (Gralla & Goentzel, 2018).
Manager is the big part of the company so I keep my team focus and also advised them
that how they improve their performance.

1.4: Review how motivational techniques can be used to improve quality of performance
Motivation technique for improving quality and performance:
Being a manager of Travelodge I used Herzberg’s Hygiene model for motivation of employees.
This is a dual-factor theory of motivation, I tried to fixing obstructive and poor policies of the
company and providing effective supervision. Make a creative culture for employees of company
and encourage their work for competition and self-motivation.
Providing opportunities for their achievements and awarded workers for their good contribution.
Some other techniques are used to motivating employees are such as:

Motivational factors (Satisfaction):
Achievement: This motivation is the form of salary increment and bonus for their good work.
Because every employee is working for money and increment in salary is best way for their
motivation. It increases competition between employees and increases their performance for
company (Kearney, 2018).

Recognition: Every employee work for good performance and by this process he knows that his
work is recognizing by manager. So, he tries to improve own work performance. For motivation
for employee send a letter for their excellent work.
Participation: It is a process of motivation which increases decision making power of employee
and also providing help for their self-analysis. They feel motivated when suggestion is asking
from them for field activity.
Provide professional Enrichment: Provide some other knowledge about field and arrange a

Introduction
The report includes solutions for the issues related to work based which has been solved by
Travelodge manager. Further, it includes monitoring and evaluation of the solved solutions.
Being a manager at Travelodge, I have faced the issue of communication, training and
development, team work, and technological skills. Further, I have planned to conduct a training
session for professional development and communication skills. The entire learning methods
and solutions are as follows:
Training on communication skills: Employees of the travel company are not well
educated and they are not communicating with the client and also others. For the solution
of providing them tuition and classes for improving their verbal and non-verbal
communication. Because effective communication is required for increasing the
performance of employees at workplace.
Mentoring: It is a motivational factor for any employee at Travel Company no feedback
is provided to employees for their work. At Travelodge hotel work feedback of
employees’ work are provided by me. By this solution, employees are self-motivated and
focus on their goals (Hemmi, 2018).
Initiative: For increasing efficiency of employees a reward is provided for their good
work and also appreciates their work. Appreciation is providing self-motivation for
employees and increasing competition between workers.
Improve skills with coaching: As part of the Travelodge hotel, I worked to increase
negotiating skills and Social skills. A class of personality development is required to
improve the skills of employees (Nejad, et. al., 2018).
