THE PRESENTATION IS ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE ON THE PROCESS OF
COMPLETING TASK A1
Introduction
This presentation highlights my experience of attending the study skills and challenges
while writing an academic essay and an action plan that I will use to improve my skills.
Experience After undertaking an Academic essay
Writing this particular essay needed an open mind as it required a person to read widely
and then analyze what you have read in your own words.
It was not just about researching but it entailed thinking critically about the various issues
so as to write a quality term paper. This task has helped me gain experience on how to
reason rationally in order to generate credential ideas that are not bias based on race,
gender or ethnicity.
How feedback has helped me improve in writing
Feedback from peers and tutors has helped me in doing my revision and practice in
writing a term paper. Through feedback am able to identify my weaknesses and work on
them accordingly.
Feedback creates a sense of ownership to the writer about his/her work.
Reflection on the Academic Essay
I learned that for a person to communicate effectively he/she should be able to write
effectively.
I felt that I was making progress in writing academic essays. I was able to break down
the ideas and consequently synthesizing these ideas to bring out the arguments in a clear
and precise manner.

From the task that I completed, grammatical errors as well as errors in the sentence
structure. I would be keener while constructing my sentences and also I would always
counter check my work before submitting it. According to Myhill, et al, (2013), for the
writer to communicate effectively he/she must use correct grammar. A student must use
the right wording to avoid twisting the message.
Writing letters and resume will also help me to improve on my grammar as they require
someone to communicate coherently without grammatical errors. The importance of
working on these weaknesses will help me to become a better writer and speaker than I
was there before.
Conclusion
Writing a term paper has enhanced my writing skill, enriched my language with
vocabulary and it has enhanced my communication with other people. However,
grammar is my biggest challenge but will work with all my colleagues and tutor to
improve it.
