INTRODUCTION
Employability skills are designed to meet the needs of individual career and personal
goals. Employment skills generally help person at workplace to achieve the company set
objectives and goals and their own personal goals as well. To work in organisation, individual
need to have some set skills or knowledge to attract the employer in order to get the best position
in the company. It will outline importance of employability skills in maximizing sales & profit in
order to meet the agreed target and the purpose of the organisation.
Assignment will be explaining managerial responsibilities and performance objectives
and effectiveness against defined objectives. Moreover, study presents time management
strategies in relation to the work-based experience. On that behalf study also focuses on the
alternative ways in order to accomplish the work or team goals. Appropriate approaches and
strategies again very much necessary to resolve the employee labour issues within the
Travelodge.
TASK 1
1.1 Developing a set of own responsibilities and performance objectives.
Individual person should have skills or knowledge to their particular domain, that helps to
get the career opportunities (Baron, Mueller and Wolfe, 2016). Being as an Assistant Manager in
Travelodge Hotel here are some of my employability skills which is essential for effective
employment.
Own responsibilities & Performance objectives
Own responsibilities are the direct level of work in order to achieve the set objectives and
goals. Apart from that, there are given some responsibilities of being Assistant manager at
Travelodge Hotel (Bolden, 2016).
Responsibilities
Direct & Indirect relationship: Being as an Assistant manager, I am responsible to
maintained the good relationship with my employees, colleagues or other workers who work for
the company. This responsibility helps in maintaining long term relationship with employee
which also supports staff retention.

Decision making processes: I am also responsible to take decision making in order to
ensure company objectives and goals. For example, take decision of employee’s task, setting
long-term short-term objectives etc.
Employment legislations: In order to keep ethical work culture, this is my responsibility
to adopt all employment laws like Occupation health and safety, Equality Act, etc. to manage
ethical and safe working environment.
Employment rights: I focus on attaining advantage over employee rights to ensure the
healthy and safe workplace environment. Further, it is my responsibility to protect employment
rights within the workplace environment like share work culture, training, mentoring, etc.
Communicating with staff: Being as a Assistant manager it is my responsibility to
manage good relationship with other staff members. So that, it can help to manage work in
systematic manner. Good relation with staff helps to perform work with good quality.
Manage Time : It is a very big responsibility to manage work on time, it helps to
maintained the consistency of work and build new future opportunity and goals.
Performance objectives
My performance objectives are to learn about my strength & weaknesses for which I need
to focus by involving in training sessions.
Another objective is to improve interpersonal skills in order to manage interacting with
employee in Hotel.
Collaborate all employees, staff colleagues to make individual more attentive.
1.2 Evaluating the own effectiveness against defined objectives.
Individual has to evaluate their own individual effectiveness against the task assigned by
the company (Carter, Ruskin and Cassilles, 2017). It helps employees to known their own
development area. In order to evaluate own personal performance, employee needs to adopt
some systematic way such as given below:
As per the defined objective, I am well at communicating the goal into the business
functional level into the best goal performance. Moreover, as per the specified goals and
objectives I focus on continuous monitoring and tracking where I will make checklist and will
rank my objectives and improvements accordingly.

process helps to identify the new correction requirement (Chae, Seo and Lee, 2015). Travelodge
Hotel has to make some potential leading target performance that helps to meet out the leading
growing performance task.
Meeting Goals
In order to meet the performance improvement goals and objectives. Meeting goals and
objectives can help to motivate employees to perform more better and in efficient manner.
Through this way, Manager can easily full fill the needs of training and development needs.
Take initiative
It is another improvement strategy for an individual to get some new skills or knowledge.
Take initiatives into the new functions that helps to motivate itself into some more specific area.
Employee should take participate in the activities and present their thoughts in front of their
higher management (Cruz and Dominguez, 2016). It helps to take better chances to grow in a

Manager can also adopt the appraisal criteria in order to meet out the individual needs
and goals. For that, Manager should need to collect personal data, rating methods such as

and helps to identify who are need to get training.
1.4 Reviewing how motivational techniques can be used to improve quality of performance.
Motivation is the best way to enhance the individual level of performance and goal.
Motivation has been given by given employees better working environment, good growth
opportunity, good salary package, productive training and development. These are the ways of
motivation that affect the quality of work in a positive manner as well.
Maslow Need Hierarchy theory
Physiological need: Physiological need theory includes the basic needs of air, water,
clothing and shelter. This helps to motivate employees and create positive working environment.
This is the best way to motivate employees by providing healthy and fresh working environment
to the employees. Employees try to eliminate company issues and challenges into the another
more effective manner (Healey, Vuori and Hodgkinson, 2015).
Safety needs: Safety needs are the second most important needs of an individual. Such
needs include good physical environmental and emotional safety and protection. It includes job
security. Financial security etc. these needs helps to enhance the employee motivation at
workplace.
Social Belonging: Social needs must be fulfilled of employee or an individual which
includes love, affection, care and friendship. For that, company needs to conduct informal
meetings to enhance employee motivation.
Self Esteem: celebrate employee’s achievement through employee recognition. Celebrate
employee achievement through giving employee of the month, performer of the company. It will
help to maintaining the effective management task in order to meet out the company as well as
employee performance. This the best way to improve the employee productive performance.
Self-Actualisation: This is another motivational way through employee get more benefit
to grow more into more appropriate manner (Jackson, 2015). Apart from that, it also helps to
bring new managerial task to make more profit for the organisation. Moreover, it brings so many
opportunities for an individual to keep the profit sustained and effective with the long-term
market. It is another technique that helps to improve better quality improvement work.

In order to motivate employees in a more appropriate manner. Company needs to adopt
Two factor theory in which employees’ motivation has divided into two factor motivator or
hygiene factor. Motivator factor includes that, employees get motivated by getting appraisal,
appreciation, rewards, gifts, promotions. On the other hand, other kind of employees can be
motivated by getting healthy working environment, neat and cleanliness. This theory should
adopt by the company in order to meet out the employee satisfaction needs.
Disadvantages
In order to manage work environment of employees and maintained positive working
environment. Limitation of Maslow Need hierarchy theory is they does not meet the all needs of
employees motivation that lead to employees dissatisfaction. This theory claimed that employees
are not get motivated by their higher order needs such as self actualization, shelter etc.
on the other side, limitation of Two Factor motivational theory is it is not necessary that
motivate factor full fill the employee needs fully.

manager, there are two major workplace issues such as conflict among employees and time
management (Mardani, Jusoh and Zavadskas, 2015). These are two common issues which needs
to resolved in order to manage positive workplace environment and effective customer services.
Solution for time management issue
Travelodge hotel can adopt some time management approaches and strategies achieve
the set objectives and goals of company. For that, organisation will adopt some following ways
given below:
Make a Schedule: Company or an individual need to make plans about what they

manner. It is the responsibility of manager to look up the things or activities running in the
