importance of primary education

My education helped me write this blog, and yours helped you read it. It was a gift for me, and I believe it was for you too. If I had imagined for a minute what would I have done without my education and the spare time I would have had, I can only think of negative things. I would not be able to read a book or write a letter to my loved ones; I would not have been able to use the technology and use its positive aspects of gaining knowledge about everything, which eventually makes me appreciate the importance of education. Education starts at the base of its foundation, which is mostly the primary years of our life, but most children cannot access primary education in life.

What is Primary Education?

The starting six years of school life is called the "primary education" period; at this stage, a child explores and learns every basic skill of life and develops a foundation for their future. Primary education is also useful for a kid to learn how to read, write, basic maths skills, and other aspects of a child's development. With the help of primary education, a child becomes ready for the complexity of life and the secondary education system.

Objectives of Primary Education

Increase Analytical Thinking - The main objective of primary education is to develop analytical skills in children and provide them with skills that will help them achieve high living standards. Making them aware of technological challenges, overcoming them, and advancing their life values. Every child needs to learn decision-making skills, such as a little kid being aware of saying yes to what they like and no to which they don't like. However, there are many more decisions of life that need to be explored by a child, and providing that is the objective of primary education.

Reinforce Friendship Bonding in children - The bond of friendship and how to make friends is a necessary life skill; primary education aims to provide those skills to the children. If a child knows the importance of friendship, becoming a good friend, and how to find one, he can overcome all the issues of life with friends.

Enhance children's communication skills - Providing communicational skills is another objective of Primary education, as it has various life benefits. Communication is useful for a child to increase their self-confidence, achieve basic education and build relationships.

Challenges faced by the Education System

  • Inadequate technology access - Most schools do not have access to the technology that needs to be applied in a child's education. They also lack the focus on extracurricular activities and other activities such as using a computer and extracurricular outdoor classes. Teaching technology is essential for students to retain and improve their skills, as the world is becoming more technology-driven every day.

  • Inequality between children - Another most cumulated challenge in the current education system is inequality, as every child comes from different background and race. Children who belong to a lower income and diverse tribe face inequality in every education system. They have the disadvantage of not accessing technology for studying from home; they face bullying, discrimination, and even an education gap due to their difference in caste, colour, religion, or income status.

  • Over-assigned tests and exams - The teaching system is mostly focused on exams, tests, assessments held throughout the year. A child stuck in this education system is just focused on exams and test and do not have time to explore their other skills. The education system's basic value is not enhancing the child's capability, but they reduce their capabilities with exams and grades.

  • Shortage of finance - The education system of most countries worldwide is under budget cuts all the time. Underfunding is usually the most challenging part of the education system. After the pandemic, this problem increased to become even more crucial. As the schools were shut down, the studies took a digital platform for continuation. However, the underprivileged class and their schools were victims of their financial shortage. The underprivileged class does not have the technology to study digitally, which hampered their education.

  • Shortage of qualified teachers - Getting qualified teachers is another issue of the education system. With the lack of budget, there also is a shortage to pay the teachers according to their qualifications. With this shortage of finance, it is even hard to train the existing teacher and retain them. The staff is reduced, and children cannot learn independently without teachers. There is no one to provide the teaching and supervise their actions. Fewer teachers give their whole attention to the class, which impacts the teacher-student relationship. That ends up determining another issue in the education system.

Why is Primary Education Important for Students?

Helps develop basic life skills - Primary education encourages a child to develop basic life skills, improves study habits and enhances communication skills, cooperates with others in times of crisis, makes friends, and learns new things. This basic life education makes a child grow into a skilled adult and get along with life. Primary education can even make more reliable and confident human beings.

Provides nourishment to a child's physical needs - Activities classes provided by primary education also work in the physical development of children. The game's classes such as football, basketball, and cricket encourage a child to get involved while working to make them physically strong. This all-rounder experience makes them physically strong and even find their way of life around sports and physical fitness.

Provides support of developing a child socially and emotionally - By providing a space for the child's development by providing them space to learn cooperation, while working with other children develops their social skills. Also, teaching them about sharing, problem-solving, making their point develops their emotional skills. That makes primary education essential as without social and emotional skills; a child cannot attempt to observe and express.

It also educates a child to be confident and independent - Primary Education nurtures children to face the outside world confidently. Also, the children who have basic education are more independent than those who don't. Primary education provides early education that teaches basic life skills while delivering a healthy and happy environment to a child where they can explore and learn new things. The child with fundamental education can feel much more confident in being around people and making new friends, which helps them divulge life's issues.

Helps in a child's mental growth - Along with social, physical, and emotional growth, primary education also develops and improves their mental state. Primary education is essential for nourishing a child's mind and providing them with different activities that help their mental growth and encourage them to improve their knowledge accordingly.

It also improves children's communication and reading skills of children - Primary education's basic idea is to provide the foundation of education, which starts with reading and writing things that lead to healthy communication. Without having this basic life skill, a child becomes illiterate, which encourages them to go in a negative direction and find negative ways of becoming productive. Primary education is important for providing them with a productive way of identifying their skills with fundamental education.

It works in the country's development - A country's growth depends on many factors, and an educated population is one of those factors. Primary education can also encourage the nation's growth as every citizen will be educated, reducing illiteracy rate inequality in the country and moving towards a developed country overall.

Our world is filled with challenges, but little children who have just arrived should be provided basic things to understand the perks and negative aspects of this life. Primary education can lead them to a positive pathway, where they choose what is right and wrong according to their knowledge.
