Topic- Teamwork is the essence of generating successful results
Introduction
Background of Case
The respective report will be critically reflecting on the approach of teamwork,
leadership along with change management which persists in dealing with a team in an
effective manner. While I was working as the manager in ABC Company during the previous
years, there were various challenges related to managing team was tackled by me and it
decreased the overall productivity of our team as well. I was associated with the company for
four years and due to my hard work, I was being promoted to the post of manager in the
company.
While I was managing the team of four members named Jack, Mary, Rose, Liam and
Hannah and with them, I managed to form the peer learning group. The main task which was
assigned to me was to manage an urgent order for a client for delivering 400 units of shirts
within forty-eight hours. However, there was lack of cooperation and ineffectiveness among
team members in performing the task and it created negative impact on reputation of the
company negatively as well. From overall analysis of the case, it can be identified that there
have been various leadership challenges along with coordination which affected the self-
confidence of the entire team.
Case Study Scenario
Analysis of the Issue
When I was working with the organization for the past four years, I delivered my best
in performing all the activities in the organizations in an appropriate manner. However, after I
was being promoted as the manager in the organization and there were four team members
who was supposed to be working under me, I was not confident enough in handling the team
effectively. The core issue caused when the entire was required to deliver 400 units of the
shirts to the customers and we were not able to deliver the order within the stipulated time
frame as well.
The entire team was disappointed and everyone questioned my cooperation as well as
leadership skills. From the respective case, I analyzed that the key issue was the deficiency of

cooperation and the diversity related issues which affected the team. Jack and Mary did not
cooperate with one another as there was lack of cohesion and the ineffectiveness in the team
starts when the members do not mix well with one another as it affects the morale of the other
team members in performing the different tasks appropriately. In addition, Hannah was trying
to manage all the activities on her own and it created lack of equal membership among the
different members led to dissatisfaction among the members which affected the functions and
we were not be able to deliver the orders within the respected time as it was being decided by
us. From the above, it can be identified that I was unable to manage the team effectively and I
was not capable of dealing with conflicts among team members that affected the entire
productivity and it led to more problems.
Different Methods in Solving Problems in Managing Team
When the entire team along with myself faced such issues of failure of delivering
order to the client, I questioned myself regarding my skills related to leadership and I came to
understand the different issues which affected the overall effectiveness of the respective
team. Firstly, as a leader I gained insight on the different kinds of issues which are required to
be solved.
Therefore, communication is the first and foremost approach which I managed in
incorporating among me and the members as it is one of the crucial elements which includes
constantly updating one another and not assuming that all team members has similar kind of
information (Zhou, Vredenburgh and Rogoff 2015).
Furthermore, the delegation is the other approach which I helped them to adopt in
managing the team as I felt that tasks delegation will be helpful in analyzing the strengths
along with weaknesses of each team member and the major benefit of the strong team work is
that the different team leaders and members are able to identify the different aspects of the
project along with allocate the tasks to most apt team member (van der Haar et al. 2017).
In addition, as the team faced lack of cohesiveness among the members and it affected
their morale. Therefore, I helped to support the different viewpoints of all team members
which helps in developing system which will be allowing them in collaborate in an efficient
manner to complete the different tasks in an effective manner (Santos, Caetano and Tavares
2015). I felt that when the different team members will be working together, it will be helpful

for them in sharing their own capabilities and it will be assisting them in organizing the
workload accordingly.
Application of Theory Related to Development of Team Effectiveness
From the analysis of the case study, it has been identified that there are various kinds
of issues which affected the morale of team members. However, with the application of the
model related to development of effectiveness in team, I would be able to improve the
presentation of the members and improve the pattern of performing the tasks and achieving
the set targets appropriately as well. As commented by Tuckman, the author helped in
delivering team development model comprised of four stages in managing the problems and
helped in decision-making approach.
Forming- In the first stage, I provide my support to analyse the different loopholes
and the weaknesses of various team members. From the same, I gained knowledge that Mary
was from different cultural background and in such scenario, I generated cultural diversity by
providing separate training to team members and it assisted me in creating successful team
(Salas et al. 2017).
Storming- In the respective stage, the team can be let to grow and the leader needs to
identify the requirement of change which will be generating cohesiveness and efficiency in
the team (Shamir and Eilam-Shamir 2018). Due to the diversity training and development of
employees, it helped me and my team members in plummeting the ineffectiveness.
Norming- It is the phase wherein I helped to bring cooperation with the members
through development of diversity programs and incorporated cooperation among team
members to gain competitive advantage (Lord et al. 2017).
Performing- It is the specific phase wherein the different members in team tried to
perform in a joint manner and cooperation helped me and my team in solving problems
accordingly (Benoliel and Somech 2015).
Adjourning- In the stage, in which members of team tried to attain the different goals
and helped in building proper relationships with one another (Kozlowski, Mak and Chao
2016).

Learning Outcomes
Therefore, after the examination of the case study, the workplace or while managing
the team, the workplace creativity and the cooperation are the two major components that can
be adopted by the members in improving the presentation of the organization as well.
Communication along with delegation of the tasks are the two major approaches which plays
vital role in improving the success of the team. Through the implementation of the
Tuckman’s Development of Team Theory, I was able to handle the management of the
members of the team and it assisted me in generating effectiveness in the team. Due to the
cooperation of the members, the future orders were delivered on time and it facilitated me in
achievement of the goals.

Question 1- Explain the various issues confronted by the team in delivering the orders to
their premium clients?
After the examination of the case study, it has been identified that there are different
kinds of problems that were faced by the members of the team such as lack of cohesiveness
along with lack of equality in the team. The main aspect which has been seen is the
deficiency of proper leadership approach as I was unable to handle the team effectiveness in
the market. The case study has helped in analyzing that the members of the team did not
cooperate with one another and there was inequality among members who affected the entire
management of the members (Zhou, Vredenburgh and Rogoff 2015). As a team leader, I did
not have the capability of managing the team which led to failure of delivering the order
along with demotivation among the members. As there were followers who were from
different cultural backgrounds, it can be noticed that there were cultural diversity issues
which affected the morale of the team. Lastly, as a team leader, I was not able to provide
support to members of the team that affected the capabilities of the team and it led to the
complete failure of the team.

of the effectiveness of the members of the team?
There are dissimilar methods that are incorporated by the team mates and the leader in
order to improve the performance of respective team and gain competitive advantage. The
effective communication is the most appropriate aspect that should be followed by the leaders
in the different organizations as it will be beneficial in handling the team effectively (Zhou,
Vredenburgh and Rogoff 2015). I strained to provide support to the members of who will be
