Influential Journals and Films that Shaped My Leadership Philosophy

The key aspect of this journal which influenced my leadership philosophy is to become
honest and to listen carefully in order to make proper ideas that outline my own qualities and
skills to become an efficient leader. From this journal, I got to know that one should identify
someone in order to follow his or her leading style to become better. So, there was a leader in
my company, whose leading style was very different and unique. I admire him as a leader.
With the help of this journal I have understand that without the help of the team a leader
cannot achieve the goal of the organization. This thinking inspires me to become a better
leader by adopting required changes in my leadership style (ZAHARIA (Ștefănescu), &

This journal briefly describes the application of leadership education and also describes their
leadership thinking in order to advance their leadership style. This article includes several
aims in order to make people understand about the leadership philosophy. The key aspect of
this journal that influenced my leadership philosophy is, it helps me to identify my leadership
style and motivates me to understand clearly about the leadership philosophy. I have learned
the theories and concepts of leadership and have applied those theories in my profession as a
leader. It enables me to gain the importance of my values and approaches in the process of
making decisions. This also helped me a lot in my promotions and interviews by determining
who I am as a leader (Speranza & Pierce, 2019).

This section of this book includes a structure of servant leadership development consists of
the three triangles of development of leadership. The first triangle inspired me to develop my
philosophy by showing that servant leadership development raises the supporter and leaders
in a clear environment of learning and development. The second triangle influenced my
leadership philosophy by stating that leadership is a long journey of self-assessment and
development. The third triangle includes a brief of leadership development in an individual-
knowing, being, and doing. These triangles influenced my leadership philosophy by
describing the importance of development of servant leadership and also state that self-
awareness is important to carry such development lifetime (Sendjaya, 2016).

This journal states that leadership is all about skills, capability for transformation. It also
includes the needs of values and principles of an individual in leadership that motivates a
leader to behave in certain situations. Leadership transformation is a matter of an
international leadership association, in which the discussion on this matter was held in
November 2009. Transformational leadership is a style of leadership that influenced me to
become more energetic and passionate. I found this style at all levels of my profession as a
leader. It motivates me to become more visionary and daring in order to take risk and it also
inspires my personal leadership philosophy by stating that transformation is important
according to the situation for the development (Ncube, 2010).

This book includes a clear discussion on effective leadership in an adventure program by
describing a real-life leader's leadership style. This book has been designed in order to
challenge your profession to become better and also inspires you to increase your leadership
skills and techniques. Lee was a leader of a group of two dozen people and planned an
outdoor trip in order to give the students a break from studies. During the trip, Lee took care
of all the students by cooking for them, guiding them during the whole trip. Lee's action
shows that he is a great leader. He also planned another trip in order to increase the student's
learning skills. The key aspect of this journal which influenced my leadership philosophy is
that leading a team is not just a task; it is a responsibility towards your followers. I have
understood that adventure program will also increase the leadership skills by creating
unwanted situation (Priest et al., 2017).
The pursuit of happyness. 2006. [Film] Directed by Gabriele Muccino. America:
Columbia Pictures Corporation.
The Pursuit of Happyness is a film of 2006. Gabriele Muccino is the director of the movie.
The Movie is on a true story; it's all about how a man named Chris Gardner faces the issues
and struggled in his life with his relatives. In this film, Chris faces many setbacks but never
gave up. He was greedy for success. The determination of Chris influenced my leadership
philosophy by stating that an individual should never stop trying and one should have a
hunger for the achievement. This film inspired me to achieve the goal and to become greedy
for success (The pursuit of happyness, 2006).
The Chronicles of Narnia. 2005. [Film] Directed by Andrew Adamson. New Zealand:
Walden Media, Walt Disney Pictures.

The film shows how children created a world full of the magic of Narnia in between a
wardrobe. They also joined the adventurous fight against the white witch with Narnia. This
film influenced my personal leadership philosophy by stating that leadership is a
responsibility in which you have to lead; you should create that much courage in you to lead.
The movie inspired me to support my employees during critical situations by guiding them
properly towards growth (The Chronicles of Narnia, 2005).

Hollywood Gang Productions.
300 is an American film and was released in 2007. The film highlights the Spartan's lives.
This movie states that a leader needs to take a decision to move forward. The key aspect of
this journal that influenced my leadership philosophy is, it motivates me to make a decision
that should be effective. In this movie the Spartans think that living greatly in this life will
give them a never-ending life. It made me believe in life after death and this made me
understand that the virtues in life like integrity are more important than life (300, 2006).
Facing the Giant. 2006. [Film] Directed by Alex Kendrick. America: Sgerwood Pictures,
Samuel Goldwyn Films, Destination Films.
Facing the giant is a Christian movie was released in 2006. The film shows the struggle of an
underdog football team. The movie highlights the life of the coach. In this film, the coach has
different point of view about the game that brings the game to the next stage. The key aspect
of this journal that influenced my leadership philosophy is: it made me understand that in
order to overcome a challenge the organization needs to change its point of view. This film
also inspired me to guide my employees with my leadership skills in order to become a good
leader in life (Facing the Giant, 2006).

Braveheart is an action film directed by Mel Gibson and released in 1995. This movie states
that an individual should fight for its freedom at any cost. This movie inspired me to
understand the importance of freedom, which is more important than that of my life and ii
should give my employees freedom to participate in decision making process. It made me
understand that everyone will die one day so never allow your fear of failure to stop you from
taking risk. I have learned from this movie that one should overcome his fear of failure and
this thinking has developed my leadership philosophy and also enables me to overcome my
fear of failure (Brave heart, 1995).
