LO1 Evaluate different types of construction information in the context of diverse project
types.
TASK1
For each construction project there are a number of documents put to use to provide information
of the project to be undertaken. The managers of the project rely on the different sources of
construction information to ensure the project is delivered seamlessly by all the teams that are
mandated to undertake the project. The information provided in the various documents should
be accurate to ensure that the project is done to the specifications and delivered on time. In this
case, to define specifics of a project we will rely on the conceptual information of a 5 storey
building project which is to be constructed near Heathrow Airport.
Construction projects are defined by the existing construction information. There are a several
information source that need to be put together before commencement of a construction project.
This information is categorized into four; Information on conceptual design, information on
schematic design, presentation and details information and drawing information. Information on
conceptual design puts into perspective the motivating factor that led to that particular building
design. Information on schematic design informs on the measurements of division of the spaces1.
Thirdly, is the presentation information which shows the end product of the project, this
information further gives a sneak pic of the finishes and the materials that will be used on the
floors and windows. By the help of pictures, the client is able to see the beauty of the end
product. During the presentation stage of the planned construction project, the client is made to
understand what he should expect and the end of the project and he is provided with other

options that can be adopted by the team. With the approval of the presentation information by the
client, the architect can now go ahead to develop details and construction information. The
architect will go further and provide working drawing which provides details of the thickness
and height of walls and also gives specific information of the designs and materials to be utilized
in construction of doors, walls and windows. At this stage, the different sections of the building
are generated to give details of the materials that will utilize and the type of foundation that the
project will be laid on2. More so, engineers are provided with information on other details that
are to be incorporated in the construction project. The specific details are to aid engineers to
come-up with structures that well elaborate to ease the construction process.
