CLOUD COMPUTING TECHNOLOGY
Introduction:
Cloud computing technologies are one of the emerging technologies
in the present generation. Different type of organization uses the cloud
computing technology in their organization for different types of purposes
(Rittinghouse & Ransome, 2016). In the current aspect, the Department of
Spatial Information (DSI) which is a State Government Department is
considering to use a cloud service provider so that they can migrate their
Online Spatial Delivery System (OSDS) which is actually a suite of web
services and application that is used by the DSI. The main function of the
DSI is providing accurate and timely spatial information to the other
government organization and some of these data is also provided to the
public for which the OSDS is important for them. As per DSI, for effective
organisational operations the OSDS should be always available and
accessible. This should be accessible during the peak hours also. DSI is
also considering to make the OSDS secure from any type of attacks.
Considering all of these criteria, DSI has identified that a cloud
migration of the OSDS will be best solution in this case. Thus, in this
report a potential deployment and delivery model that DSI can undertake
for the cloud based OSDS will be evaluated. All the important implications
regarding this will discussed in the following section.

Advantages and Disadvantages of using IaaS or PaaS for
OSDS:
Currently, DSI can use both of the IaaS and the PaaS for migrating
the OSDS to the cloud. Both of the approach is having some advantages
and the disadvantages. In the following section these are discussed
briefly.
IaaS for OSDS:
The IaaS or the infrastructure as a service can be considered as an
instant infrastructure for the computing services. The IaaS is managed
and provisioned over the internet (Ibrahim & Hemayed, 2019). IaaS is
used by various type of organizations for their business purposes.
