Executive summary
The paper mainly focuses on the implementation of computerized system for Diamond video
rentals which is one of the small business that operates in large country town. It is analyzed that
presently the company faces a lot of challenges in competing and for keeping their customers
satisfied and therefore the sales of the company dropped negatively. It is found that the
implementation of new computerized system will be helpful in efficiently managing the business
operations. The paper discusses all the requirements which will be required for the
implementation of the system and also elaborates the functional and non-functional needs of the
system. Furthermore, it is analyzed that the entire project will get completed within 50 days of
time span by using budget of around $40,000.

2. Company description
The paper mainly reflects on “Diamond Video Rentals” which is one of the small
business that is mainly operating within a large country town for around five years. The
organization generally rent different types of videos to its members. It is found that there are
around 5000 members as well as 10,000 videos within the stock of the company. Earlier, the
business of the company grew steadily however in the last few years, the growth in both the
members as well as rentals not occurred.
3. Problem definition
The population of the entire team is growing quite steadily in the last two years and it is
identified that another video store has been opened in the town six month ago which is growing
too much rapidly and it affecting the business of the video rentals. John Vandrine is quite
concerned about the improper growth of the business in the last year and patronage is reflected as
static and it seems to be declining. In addition to this, the complaints from the customer is
enhancing. Moreover, with the advent of the new video related store, John is generally keen for
enhancing the competitiveness of the entire business. Additionally, john has asked different IT
solutions for performing proper investigation for analyzing the benefits of computerizing
different day to day business for the video rental organization.

3.1 Business need
The company has mainly received a request to computerize some of the business needs of
the Dimond video rentals with the aim of making the entire operation of the organization much
more efficient. It is found that with the help of the computerized system, the organization will be
able to reach the customers easily and can be able to solve their queries thus assists in providing
better customer service. In addition to this, the new computerized system will be able to store the
videos and further helps in record keeping which would further helps in boosting sales and helps
in increasing the satisfaction of the customers.
