INTRODUCTION Social media refers applications as well as websites which make people or businesses able to share informations, create content and perform all business activities (Topolovec-Vranic and Natarajan, 2016). This present study is going to show both positive and negative effects of social media on the performance of businesses. It will also show the extent to which it allows them in completing business activities like recruitment, products promotion and others. MAIN BODY Roles of social media in business activities like recruitment and others Social networking or online applications has become an integral part of daily lives. It is helping companies in performing their business activities in easier and smooth manner. In the context of LinkedIn it is stated that it dominates the professional social networking sector with over 150 million registered members. It has changed the way of interacting with people and performing activities. There are several large scale organizations worldwide who are making use of social media in recruitment and products promotional activities (Ladkin and Buhalis, 2016). Positive effects:There are some positive sides of using social media, social networking users said that they view and can get opportunities from social media and can also create their online presence. Companies, By making a complete company page, businesses can see LinkedIn search results and identify that how many people seek for job. By getting informations uploaded by job seekers, they can employ the right candidate within their business. There is an option of filter by which companies can get candidates as per job requirements. So, it can be said that social media and its applications like LinkedIn are helping businesses in performing their business activities and getting the right employee (Social Career Management: Social Media and Employability Skills Gap, Vladlena and et.al..2013). On the other hand, it is also identified that because of increasing use of social media, students bare giving important to social skills rather than their qualification. Social media skills are viewed increasingly important. But due to lack consideration to degree qualification can affect their education and sometimes also create problems for companies in getting ineffective people. 3
As per the....social media is not good and perfectly fit for identifying and recruiting candidates. In survey majority of people said that recruitment with social media is not effective strategy a per them and some believes that social media is effective. There are some applications which are majorly being used for recruitment such as: Facebook and LinkedIn (Use of Social Media in Recruitment, Jane Topolovec,2020). Companies cannot get effective and skilled candidates because sometimes candidates try to mislead employers and for that they put some inaccurate information and on the basis of those informations, they get selected. After selecting such candidates employers find difficulties as it affects their overall performance. So, it can be said that it all depends upon the way if using social media in completing business activities and recruiting employees. For arguing above view,The Use of Social Media in Recruitment Applicants’ Perception, Petre and et.al.,.(2017) stated that there are several applications which are being majorly used by companies such as LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook for employing candidates as per the job roles and requirements. It saves their time as companies do not have to spend time in interviewing each candidate as with the help of technology and making use of all these applications they can shortlist candidates which suitable with job roles. It saves their timely. After short listing candidate online they can conduct interview for selecting the best suitable candidate (Eger, Mičík and Řehoř, 2018). People also find easier to update their profile or create profile for employment and they do not have to go in many companies for interview as by viewing all details updates by them companies cal them for interview. So, it can be said that using social media in an effective manner is not only beneficial for businesses but also for users and job seekers. In addition, it can also be said that rather recruitment companies are also using social networking for their products promotion. They can interact with people and make them aware about features of products and services by providing all details of products. Advantages By making use of effective applications of website companies can connect with passive candidates. Companies can see talent and creative ideas of candidates at first hand. Companies can filter out and eliminate all candidates which are not suited with the job profile and requirements of job role which save their time. 4

In addition it can also be said that one of the other reasons of conducting study on this topic is to support companies as well as job seekers in getting the best suited job as per their experience and needs. They just required having knowledge of reviewing applications and documents uploadedby job seekers in a detailed manner otherwise it can create problems fro them. CONCLUSION From the above discussed study it has been concluded that social media played a vital role in daily lives and completing business activities. It has both positive and negative effects on the performance of companies as it is all depend upon the way of using social media. It has also shown different ways of using social media in recruitment, selection and other business activities. 5
