Abstract
Main purpose of this report is to identify the ways for increasing job satisfaction among
the employees of an organisation. This is a main purpose and in order to attain this, different
activities were completed by researcher in systematic manner. Introduction is a first part of
dissertation that was done by developing aim and objectives, introducing background or
overview of the report, identifying research gap etc. These helped researcher in conducting of
another chapter which is literature review. This chapter is based on secondary data that was
collected from secondary sources such as articles, magazines, books, publication research and
many others. All these sources supported researcher in fulfilment of research gap and in also
accomplishing research objectives through research questions. Research methodology is
determined as an another and main activity that were completed by using positivism philosophy,
deductive approach, questionnaire, quantitative choice etc. These methods were helped
researcher in gathering of quantitative or primary information within minimum time period. Data
analysis is another activity or part of research that helped researcher in analysing or evaluating of
information collected from questionnaire. Frequency distribution analysis applied by researcher
as an analytical tool. This tool supported them in analysing of quantitative data in limited time
period. Conclusion is important activity because it included entire information or data about the
topic in clear and short manner. Recommendations is also part that helps in providing of proper
recommendations about the improvement in research topic. Therefore, all these are useful
activities that supported investigator in completion of full dissertation systematically and
effectively.

type of satisfaction that defined as the level of happiness that feel by employees with their job.
Satisfaction level of employee towards their job is related with the work environment,
compensation and benefits, team members and managers, job impact on personal life etc.
Therefore, job satisfaction is important for employees as well as an organisation. For employees,
this will help them by improving its working performance that results in higher progress in
company. In case of an organisation, job satisfaction of employees is essential because it will
support them in reduction of high employees turnover and also in accomplishment of
competitive advantages (Berglund, Johansson Sevä and Strandh, 2016). For this project, steel
industry is a give case study. This is a industrial sector that trades and produces in steel. Thus,
employee satisfaction is important within steel industry because this will support them in
increment of growth and success. Sheffield Forgemasters is a chosen organisation that works
under steel industry. It is a heavy engineering organisation located in Sheffield, South
Yorkshire, England. This company was founded in 1805 by the key people of Graham
Honeyman and James Tate, and headquartered in Sheffield, England, United Kingdom.
Company was specialise in production of large bespoke steel castings and forgings, and also
standard ingots, bars and rolls.
Problem statement
Job satisfaction among employees is important part of the business growth and
development. If employees are not satisfied towards their job, it has negative impact over
business performance of company. Due to unsatisfied employees at workplace, there are
different issues that may be face by company including lower productivity, reduced brand image,
high employee turnover etc. All these are biggest issues faced by company if they have
dissatisfied employees in the workplace. Thus, this is a major problem that negatively impact on
business performance and growth of company (Nica, 2016).

This research has wide scope because employee satisfaction is important for an
organisation or an industry. Quantitative research also has biggest scope because it will support
investigator by providing data in form of numbers or facts. This will support researcher in
achievement of research aim and objectives and also in completion of full report systematically
and effectively (Wang and Brower, 2019).

deductive approach, questionnaire, quantitative research etc. will be applied by researcher
because these support in attainment of research objectives.
Data analysis: In order to analysis information about the present investigation, frequency
distribution analysis as an analytical technique will be followed by investigation. This technique
support investigation in analysation of quantitative data. Ms-Excel will also use for making
graphs according to the research questions (Shaker Ardakani and et. al., 2016).
Conclusion: This section of the study is important because it includes entire information
or data of each chapter in clear or short way. This chapter helps reader in determination of
achievement of the research aim and objectives.
Recommendations: This part of the study helps in improvement of business performance
through different ways recommended to the specific organisation or industry.
Limitations of the report
There are number of limitations of the study including in-sufficient time, inaccurate
amount of capital, unethical behaviour from respondents side etc. These are major limitations but
despite of these, there are some ways that will be used by investigator for eliminating the
limitations or problems of the report (Heydarabadi and et. al., 2016).

Literature review is important process used by investigator for accumulating secondary
data from different sources such as articles, books, magazines, publication research etc. Main
purpose of literature review is finding of research gap in previous studies (Chung, Jung and
Sohn, 2017). Within a current project, main gap of this research is the ways for increasing job
satisfaction among the employees of an organisation. In previous study, there were data available
regrading the ways for increasing job satisfaction of employees but there were in-sufficient
information regarding the impact of satisfied employees on business as well as their working
performance. In order to overcome this gap, research questions has been followed by
investigator. These are:

According to the Adekanmbi, Ukpere and Adegoke, (2020), All different industries and
their prevailing organisations are needed to focus over job satisfaction for retaining employees
longer period of time. This has huge importance in improving the performance level of
employees. This also aid in creating their trust towards organisational services and management.
The higher level of satisfaction allowing an organisation to hold employees for longer time
period and creation of a team that will always work in their beneficence. There are numerous
number of benefits that attached with the successful performance of this exercise includes higher
productivity level, optimum utilisation of resources, work completion on time, higher amount of
profitability and less amount of errors. There are many ways that will help an organisation to
increase the job satisfaction level of employees. Different organisations adopt different in
accordance to the nature of operations and prevailing conditions. There are some common and
standard ways which are effective to adopt by all different nature organisations whether small or
large or having business operations in any industry like training and development, performance
appraisal, recognition, rewards etc. The detailed level description of all is provided below that
how these all aid in improving job satisfaction within steel industry;
Training and development: One of the major aspect of employee is their personal and
professional development. It is the duty upon management of each organisation that arrange
training and development programmes on regular basis that ensures development of their

existing level skills, knowledge, competence and overall personality. This exercise has
contribution in development of opportunities for all employees that grab higher responsibilities
within same organisation (Cherif, 2020). This aid in improving their job satisfaction level that
further allowing in their retention for longer period of time within an organisation. This creates
the trust in behaviour of employees that they are important part of an organisation and
management focuses over fulfilling their future needs. This simultaneously having positive
impact over daily performances where major focus will provided over optimum utilisation along
with reduction of errors.
Reward: All the employees within an organisation has belief that they will get
significant amount of rewards from an organisation against to their good performances. So,
providence of rewards by an organisation to their employees for their extra efforts will help in
getting their trust and engagement. The futuristic impact of same will be ascertained in the form
of high level performances and long term retention of employees at workplace. The satisfaction
of doing job for an organisation that fulfils their demand further aid in improvement of

quantitative data without consuming additional time and cost. Interpretivisim philosophy is not
useful for doing primary research as it takes more time and require data in form of qualitative

Research approach: This refers to the important part of data analysis the that will be
essential for researcher in attainment of research aim and objectives. This part of methodology
divided into two approaches which are called inductive and deductive. Both are consider
effective approaches of analysing information in qualitative and quantitative manner. Deductive
approach is useful in analysing of quantitative information, whereas inductive approach is apply
for analysing qualitative information. Therefore both approaches of data analysis are essential
but for analysing data about the job satisfaction among the employees of steel industry,
deductive approach is more appropriate and useful. This approach helps investigator in analysing
or evaluating of quantitative data easily and timely. Inductive approach of data analysis is not
useful for carrying out this investigation because it requires data in form of qualitative that takes
more time and resources.
Research strategy: This will be essential and important for investigator in collection of
information about the topic. There are various strategies including survey, experimental research,
action research, case study, systematic literature review and so on. These are effective strategies
in collection of data or information about specific field of study. In order to conduct present

investigation, systematic literature review and survey are important strategies that will be applied
be researcher. Survey is a part of primary data collection that will use for collecting reliable and
valid data in minimum time. Systematic literature review is another strategy applied by
researcher for collecting secondary information from number of sources such as books,

qualitative or quantitative data. Quantitative method will be used under memo choice because it
provides numerical information in less time period. Qualitative method is not valuable for

Time horizon: Time is important section for conducting primary research. This section of
methodology has two approaches which are cross-sectional and longitudinal. These approaches
are important but for executing present study, cross-sectional approach of time horizon has been
applied. Main purpose for applying cross-sectional approach as it support in completion of full
research project effectively and systematically.
Data collection and data analysis: These introduces important part of the research
project that helps investigator in collecting as well as analysing of information about the topic.
There are two approaches of data collection which are primary and secondary source.
Questionnaire has been applied by investigator for gathering primary data about job satisfaction
among the employees of steel industry. Systematic literature review is a source of secondary data
collection that was followed by investigator for collecting secondary data about the given topic.
In order to analysis data, frequency distribution analysis will be followed as it support
investigator in evaluating and interpreting of quantitative information (DINC and
PLAKALOVIC, 2016).
Sampling: This introduces to the systematic process of selecting respondents from total
population. There are two important techniques of sampling are called probability and non-
probability. These are determined as essential techniques of sample selection from total
population. In order to select sample size for current investigation, probability type of sampling

is more valuable because it helps in selection of respondents randomly. Main purpose for using
simple random sampling type of probability sampling as it not requires maximum time and also
provide valid outcomes. Non-probability type of sampling is not useful within an investigation
because it takes maximum time and also not helps in gaining of valid outputs.
Research instruments: Questionnaire will be used for collecting primary and quantitative
information about the job satisfaction among the employees of steel industry. 100 respondents
will be selected for questionnaire. 9 open-ended and 1 close-ended question will be prepared for
collecting information about the job satisfaction to the employees of Sheffield Forgemasters
under steel industry.

DATA ANALYSIS
Data analysis introduces to the significant process of analysing qualitative or quantitative
information. Present investigation is based on quantitative collected information and in order to
evaluate such type of data, frequency distribution analysis has been chosen by investigator
(Chen, 2020). This is an analytical technique that has been used for analysing quantitative
information in minimum time of period. In this technique, investigator will require in making
frequency distribution table and also distributing entire table in single table. This helps
researcher by saving its time and also support them in attaining of valid outcomes. Ms-Excel will
also use by researcher for making graphs according to the each questions presented in
questionnaire. This will support investigator in accomplishment of valid outcomes easily and

respondents are strongly agreed because they had appropriate knowledge and understanding
regarding the contribution of steel industry in increasing job satisfaction level of employees.

Conclusion
From the above mentioned report, it has been concluded that staff satisfaction is
important within steel industry. Satisfaction among employees also supported them by improving
their career success and growth easily. There are different number of ways that helped in
increasing employees satisfaction. These ways are giving of frequent feedback, measurement of
engagement on frequent basis and development of proper communication. With the help of these
ways steel industry easily enhanced employee's satisfaction. Satisfied employees at workplace
are highly essential for company because they increased profitability, enhanced productivity
level and also assist in retention of employees for long time period. It has been determined that
job satisfaction helps staff members by increasing their working performance that results in
increased market share. Company also used different factors for providing better job satisfaction
to their all employees. These factors are related with job security, good relationship with
superiors, good work-life balance, and learning and career development. Thus, these factors
increased satisfaction among employees that outputs in attainment of higher growth of an
organisation. In this, business mangers also played essential role for providing satisfaction to
employees towards job. These roles are; providence of proper direction, consultation regarding
their future and also in providence of benefits and rewards. Steel industry also contribute more
towards keeping employee's satisfied such as increasing employment generation, providing job
stability and also giving monetary benefits apart from wages. At last, positive working
environment also supported employees by enhancing their job satisfaction. Therefore, employees
satisfaction in the working environment is important for both employees as well as an
organisation. Apart from this, number of methods used by researcher for accomplishing research
aim and objectives. These methods are quantitative data, questionnaire, positivism philosophy
etc. These are effective and useful for investigator in attainment of aim and objectives as well as
completion of entire report. Along with this, literature review helped researcher in collecting of
secondary data that turn to effects researcher in accomplishment of each objectives of the study.
Questionnaire is a tool of primary data collection that supported investigator in attainment of
research objectives through research questions.

Recommendations
From the above given information, it has been recommended that, at workplace satisfied
employees played important role. There is some recommendations to the Sheffield Forgemasters
in steel industry in retention of employees for longer time period. These recommendations will
be provided as below: Provide a better platform: Sheffield Forgemasters must give a platform for workers to
speak all information freely at workplace. This will helps employees by increasing their
confidence level that results in strong relationship with company. This also supported
them by increasing their working performance and productivity. Salary must be competitive: This is another recommendations to the Sheffield
Forgemasters to provide salary and benefits according to their performance. This turn to
helps them in improvement of their business performance and also attainment of
employees for longer time period. Offer the right benefits: Perks and benefits plays an important role in keeping employees
more engaged, healthy and happy. For this, company must provide flexible working
environment to their employees. This will help them in retention of employees for longer
time duration. Motivate employees: There are different theories of motivation that will be used by
Sheffield Forgemasters for motivating their employees. These theories are Maslow’s
Need Hierarchy Theory, Herzberg’s Motivation Hygiene Theory, McClelland’s Need
Theory, McGregor’s Participation Theory, Urwick’s Theory Z, Argyris’s Theory,
Vroom’s Expectancy Theory and Porter and Lawler’s Expectancy Theory. All these are
effective and useful for Sheffield Forgemasters within steel industry. This will helps them
by increasing motivational level that turn to impact by enhancing their satisfaction
towards the job. Thus, motivational theories helps an organisation by increasing
employees motivation and also retaining them for long time.
 Collect feedbacks on frequent basis: This is another and effective way for retaining
employees at workplace for longer time. In this way, Sheffield Forgemasters must gather
feedback from their employees. This feedbacks are related with the employees feelings,
satisfaction, satisfaction, ideas etc. Therefore, by identify reason behind employees

dissatisfaction, company can easily satisfied their employees that turn to effects in
employee's retention.
