Introduction
In my opinion, this essay discusses regarding the RCM methodology. It elaborates the
advantages and disadvantages related to this. It provides an overview of FMEA process. It discusses
regarding the advantages and disadvantages of this process. This essay provides a summary
regarding the RCM implementation.
Question 1
RCM is the method to maintain the systems that can continue to perform according to the
current operation scenario. If RCM is done successfully then it will responsible for the growth of the
machine uptime, reliability and many others. It is proposed to build the RCM into the basic category of
maintenance. It must be safe in nature. The evaluation process of the RCM is described in the SAE
JA1011. This criterion says that it should maintain some basic criteria before it is called the RCM. This
term is first coined by three persons named Tom Matteson, Stanley Nowlan and Howard Heap. There
were other senior persons who were involved in this matter. This process is initially used to elaborate
the maintenance of the airlines. As per my knowledge, this method is very systematic procedure for
the judging the equipment related to the facility and the resources are for the perfect match for two
different kinds of needs. It results in huge number of the reliability related to the facility. It also
provides a large number of maintenance facility based on the prediction. It mainly looks into the both
financial as well labor resources very seriously. It is very important process for the maintenance
based on prediction. This methodology will provide more advantages that are related to requirements
for operational management. In my opinion, in this method all kinds of procedures are used. The
procedure for maintenance has following parts: Availability, Management of assets, investigating the
conditions and many others. It will help to grow the production of a particular organization. It will also
give the assurance of the product. It also provides different kinds of maintenance. It is also a very
disciplined approach for the determination of the maintenance of the requirements of different types of
plants. In my opinion, this procedure has the ability for the downtime. It must have the facility of
removing the spare parts of different portions of industry. The maintenance procedures is an
integrated approach that have the chance to maintain the machine that can be functioned in the
necessary maintain to its design cycle having limited maintenance, condition-based and also the
proactive maintenance. It has the optimum blending of reactive, condition based as well as proactive
maintenance. RCM provides the facility of critical tools. It is used to examine the failures of different
kinds of equipment’s that can affect the performance of the organization for giving the systematic
ranks for the purpose of the priority of work. It is also used for the clarify of the materials. The mode of
faliure, critical analysis and also its effects that is necessary for choosing the basic information. In
RCM methodology there are some gross system that has been used for the general course of the
organization and also the Defination of the system has already is used for the selection. The most
important point of RCM is to provide the simple, easy and elaborate model for the decision of different
kinds of assignments. The basic features of the RCM process include:
the safety
the budget for maintenance
different kinds of maintenance
It provides various options among several risk management tasks:
Tasks related to the maintenance that is predictive.
Tasks for the preventive maintenance
Single modify to the system
Failure at the run time.
In my opinion, advantages of RCM includes
It is very effective maintenance program for assets.
It reduces the expenditure by removing the unauthorized systems.
It reduces the chance of repair of assets.
It reduces the chance of damage of the assets.
Target of RCM is to provide maintenance for the assets.
It grows the reliability of the parts of the assets.

It analyses the main reason for the damage of assets.
In my opinion, disadvantages of RCM include:
It may have a huge number of expenditure for the startup companies for providing the training
to the employees.
The interest related to the savings is not viewed by the administration of certain company.
In my opinion, the FMEA is a methodology to identify the important failures that is available at
the time of designing the product. Failure modes are the procedures in which the procedure may not
be successful. These results in the bad output for the organization. FMEA analysis can decrease
these failures. It can replace the outstanding methods of engineering. It improves this by applying the
experiences as well as the knowledge of a CFT. It also provides the feedback for the design methods
of a product by evaluating risk of being unsuccessful. There are portions of FMEA. One is the Design
FMEA and another one is Process FMEA. DFMFA describes the chances of the worst functioning of
the product. It also decreases the lifecycle of the product. It can be performed by different teams of
subject matter experts. It performs the analysis of the design of the materials or manufacturing of the
materials. It has the ability to get the issues before the products are in to the hand of the consumer. It
is not for the use of the guidance by the procedure of development. It is efficiently used to the entire
life cycle of the product. The result of this will be the different kinds of the improvements for the safety,
quality, delivery, cost and many others. The main goal of this is to modify the process of production.
The basic objective of FMEA is to choose different types of rules related to the safety. It will reduce
the reduction of the performance of product. In my opinion, it will help to modify plans for controlling
the procedure. It is used to choose various kinds of features materials. It will also help to develop
many diagnostic techniques. The regulation and safety measures are obtained from:
characteristics of the materials
limit of tolerances
geometry
Interfering with other parts of the systems.
The PFMEA identifies the failure that influences the quality of the goods, decreases the reliability, not
satisfying the customers. These are generated from:
Issues related to human being
Procedures adopted at the time of processing
Use of the goods
Issues related to the environment
FMEA is a methodology that is used to identify the failure quickly. In my opinion, it is performed at the
time of the design of goods. Identifying the failures in advance the benefits of FMEA is:
More than one options for avoiding the risk.
Larger capacity of changes for verification as well as validation.
Expenditure for the cost will be very less.
Provides improvement in the DFMEA.
As per my knowledge there will be some issues related to this FMEA analysis. It includes:
It provides extreme biasness towards the ratings that is related to the severity.
It is increase the list of various types of modes related to the failure.
If the FMEA is not implemented at the time of the design phase, its efficiency will be reduced
drastically.
Sometime analysis in depth is impossible in case FMEA analysis.
If the Detection Controls are not examined appropriately then the system for detecting the
problem will not be appropriate.
FMEA is p[procedure for doing the assessment. It is not possible to remove issues for him. It
is used basically for the detection of issues related to the assets.
FMEA tools are not appropriate for the inexperienced employees in an organization.
