A new hospital is planning to be built in Adelaide of South Australia. The aim of the
hospital is to use advanced information system for improving the operational effectiveness of the
hospital. It also aims to take good care of the customers and patients (Cohen, Coleman &
Kangethe, 2016). The SA Health directors would also prefer the deployment of robotics, finance
systems and patient record systems to be of the most innovative technology. Many of the
hospitals in Adelaide have outdated information system. This report suggests the types of
information system that can be used by the new hospital to achieve its efficiency level.
2. Discussion
Several information systems are available for the purpose of increasing the efficiency of
the operations in the hospital (Laudon & Laudon, 2016). MYOB or Xero accounting software
can be used for the purpose recording financial data and handle the payroll system. Xero
software can be used for the purpose of hand ling financial data (Mageto, 2017). Payment
procedures will be made simple. Then there is another aspect of this system that is it helps to
follow up any types of payment. Cliniko is a type of management information system that will
help the new hospital to help in scheduling and managing the treatment notes as well. Cliniko is
the best solution for all types of businesses whether single practitioner or huge team
(Cliniko.com, 2017). Cliniko and Xero can be combined to get a perfect result.
The new hospital can make use of the decision support system that will help them to take
crucial decisions regarding any type of case (Kuperman, Gardner & Pryor, 2013). This system
will present the information in an integrative manner so that it becomes easy for the staffs to take

decisions. Medispan software can be used by the new hospital to get the support of any clinical
decision (Wolterskluwercdi.com, 2017). It will help to classify different medicines based on the
patient details. It is a time efficient and it can be used online. It has mobile applications that can
be used for helping and assisting the clinicians to ensure the safety of the patients along with
better health outcomes.
MediSmart is an information management system that can be used for the enhancement
of the administrative activities. This software helps in providing important information around
the hospital in order to support any type of decision making process (SoftwareSuggest.com,
2017). There are several features of this software like it can electronically record the medical
information and patient details. It helps in controlling the inventory. It also helps to make
appointments and help in scheduling any type of work or appointments. It can carry out the
management of the patients as well. The administration functions are also carried out by this
system (Oliveros et al, 2014). Other important features include consultation with doctor,
management of out-patient as well as the maintenance of the medical equipments. Administrator
Plus can also be used for process of administration. It can cover the different ranges of
management processes. It can carry out functions like patient registration, management of
diagnostic as well as expense management.
In the case study it has been mentioned that there is issue regarding transportation of
linens by staffs. A robotic solution can be provided in this case. Aethon is known to be a robot

can hold up to 453 grams. This can be used by the hospital to carry any types of medicines,

with the needs of the hospital. Proper selection must be done based on the needs of the new
hospital. Then the most feasible software must be purchased.
Xero and Cliniko when combined, it can be accessed from anywhere over the internet, it
can be updated automatically. It also gives free email as well as phone support. The
Administrator Plus software will help to improve the operational efficiency of the hospital. The
MediSmart software will enable the hospital to record the details in an electronic manner and
save time and chances of any errors. Aethon can be used for more than fifty thousand delivery
that takes place in the hospital. The information that is required in an organization cannot be
handled by one person or group of people. The functionality of Medispan system helps to
integrate the information and make use of integrated tools as well as intelligent databases.
There are certain challenges of the information system like there will become fewer jobs
available for the people. There are certain security issues in the software (Xu et al, 2014). Xero
software along with Cliniko is web based and there is security issues regarding this matter. The
system can get hacked and the sensitive financial data can be lost. The Aethon robotic system
needs to be charged regularly that consumes a lot of energy (Laudon & Laudon, 2016). Cost is

another factor. In comparison to the disadvantages, the benefits are much more. Therefore the
selection of the above mentioned software is perfect for the new hospital.
4. Recommendations and Critical Success factors
The New Hospital is recommended to use the above mentioned software in a tactical way
for getting the appropriate results. Strong security policies must be followed and recommended
in order to solve the issues regarding security. The hospital should train the staffs of the hospital
to get accustomed to the new software. Proper training will help them to maintain and use the
software in a proper manner. The need of the innovative software needs to be communicated in
the hospital before its purchase and implementation. It is recommended that the proper
maintenance of the software needs to be done. Most of the software mentioned are automatically
updated so there will not be any issue regarding this.
Critical success factors
Accessibility: The Xero and Cliniko software can be used from anywhere as they are
based on the web.
Automatic update: The software has the capability to get updated in an automatic manner.
Operational efficiency: The efficiency of the software plays a major role in getting
success.

5. Conclusion
This report concludes that certain number of information systems can be used for the
meeting the purpose and requirements of the New Hospital. The customer satisfaction level will
improve because of the health recording and billing system will be automated. It carries out a
feasibility study for the purpose of purchasing the software. It suggests that New Hospital should
use Xero Cliniko, Medispan; MediSmart and Aethon system can be used for meeting its purpose.
This report mentions the advantages as well as the limitations of the mentioned software. It also
provides recommendations and talks about the success factors that are critical in nature.
