Adventure tourism trends
Adventure tourism is being considered as the new field of tourism in which people are
getting connected with the new landscape and new culture by being physically active.
Adventure tourism is not about pushing the limits of individuals, it is about pushing individuals’
boundaries for discovering unfamiliar area (Adhikari, 2019). Analyzing the significance of
adventure tourism, it has been identified that natural environmental condition can be considered
as one of the important provision of opportunities for developing adventure tourism in an area.
Natural wealth in a country plays the significant role for developing the adventure tourism
business (al Irsyad, Nepal & Nepal, 2019).
According to Baral (2016), Adventure tourism has opened new window in the emerging
tourism sector. Due to changing consumption trends as well as improvement in social status,
adventure travel industry has started preserving the natural environments with the financial
growth. By arguing this Basnet and Aryal (2018) stated that in the year 2018, the adventure
travel trend report has shown that most of the adventure travel business in dealing with various
challenges. After the economic global recession in the year 2008, in the year 2018, another

as well as terrorism has brought drastic impact on the tourism destinations. By arguing this

growth, tax revenue and job creation has influenced travel perspectives of individuals. Analyzing
the emerging adventure travel trends, it has been identified that in the year 2014, adventure
tourism companies have increased the revenue 24% than the previous years. By providing the
globe’s cultural and natural treasure experiences, adventure tourism has impacted on the current
tourism sector. Analyzing the Adventure Travel Index, it can be said that by challenging the
stereotypes of travelers, the current travel industry has got changed (Fort, Adhikari & Rimal,
2018).
Prospects of Nepal tourism
It is true that Pokhara city has important contribution in case of improving the GDP rate
in Nepal. After the introduction of tourism business in this country, various job opportunities in
the market has influenced the employment rate as well as socio economic status of the people
(Ghimire, 2016). Due to its unique culture as well as natural resources, different tourism
activities are being successfully implemented in this country. In the current scenario, due to
increasing interest among people towards adventurous travel practices, increasing numbers of
visitors in this country have impacted ion the economic status of people. As stated by Lovett and
Pariyar (2016), through the official website, delivering knowledge and information related to the
tourism destinations, it has increased its popularity in the global tourism industry. By arguing
this Nepal, al Irsyad and Nepal (2019) stated that Pokhara can be considered as one of the
important tour0ist destination in Nepal, which has important contribution in its overall growth. It
is true that by introducing the mountain climbing, paragliding, Bungee jumping, skydiving and

many more adventurous facilities, the city has brought potential impact on the Nepal economy.
Due to increasing numbers of visitors in this country, the hospitality industry has also got
influenced in Nepal (Pariyar & Lovett, 2016). Growth in tourism sector has bought significant
impact on the living standard of Nepal citizen it is true that with the effective introduction of
various tourism tools, technological improvements in this sector has played an important role for
ensuring growth economy in Nepal. Analyzing the growth opportunities in Nepal tourism sector,
it has been identified that in between the year 2010 to 209111, the numbers of travelers reached
602,855. Analyzing the report published by Nepal tourism and Civil aviation ministry, it can be
said that the huge growth in tourism sector has been identified in between 2011 to 2012. In this
year the availability of visitors has reached 803,092, which is almost 1.6% higher than the
previous year (Rayamajhi & Nepali, 2016). Analyzing the tourism growth in this country, it has
been identified that due to multicultural, multi religion and multiethnic behavior in this country,
availability of 120 languages has made its rich cultural heritage. In case of Nepal tourism
industry, Pokhara is in the important strategic position with its improved infrastructure facilities
that can enhanced the tourist and natural attraction in the country (Pokharel & Khanal, 2018).
With large numbers of tourism attractions such as mountains, lakes and national parks, the rich
tourism prospects have been introduced in this country. By continuing this it can also be said that
improving tourism facilities in this country has also impacted on the transport networking
process in this country. Phokara has become the touristic hub in Nepal with numerous
adventurous activities as well as various business opportunities, Nepal has become an important
tourism platform in the global tourism sector.

Pokhara has huge varieties for offering in the tourism sector in Nepal. Due to its
geographic beauty as well as large numbers of lakes with the three world’s tallest mountain,
Pokhara has become the popular destination in the global tourism market. With the rich cultural
heritage as well as hiking route, not only the adventurous experiences, but also the leisure and
psychological pleasure in this place has made it unique from other destinations in Nepal. It is
true that by offering the paragliding, bungee jumping, trekking to Annapurna base camp and zip
flying, Pokhara has gained its high popularity as the adventure destination (Pokharel & Khanal,
2018). With the rich culture as well as wealthy hospitality, the city has enhance the touristic
purpose in this country. Not only the mountains, but also the beauty of Phewa Lake in this city
has provided major trekking, river rafting as well as maintaining facilities for attracting the
tourists. Pokharel, Poudel and Grala (2016) opined that Pokhara can be considered as the key
junction in which all the adventurous experiences are being provided to the visitors. Upper
Mustang and village tracking are the best trekking destinations in Pokhara where the availability
of tourists is quite high compared to others destinations. Analyzing the location of Pokhara, it
has been identified that it is located at an attitude of 827 meters from the sea level, where the
diverse floras as well as climatic variation with snow covered mountain have impacted on its
destination growth. With world’s three tallest mountain such as Manaslu, Dhaulagiri and
Annapurna, the destination has provided huge scope for mountaineers (Rayamajhi & Nepali,
2016).

democracy in Nepal in 1951, the tourism sector in Nepal was not highly populated in the global

Pokhara is the second largest city in Nepal which is known as waypoint for the mountain
climbers (Pokharel & Khanal, 2018). The tourism perspective in Pokhara was analyzed after
1962, when large numbers of tourists have explored the adventurous beauty of this place and
introduced to the world. In order to improve the tourism practices in this place, in the year 1968,
after the improvement of connectivity, it has become the popular adventurous destination of
Himalaya. Pacific Asia Travel Association has introduced Pokhara as the popular tourist
destination after its important contribution in trade route between china and India in 18th to 20th
century. In order to improve the tourism business in this place, tourism information center was
introduced in Pokhara for connecting large numbers of visitors with this place. Thomas Cook can
be considered as the important explorer of Pokhara, who has explored the ancient inclinations in
this city. It is true that with increasing popularity of this place, the city has introduced various job
opportunities in the market, which has brought improved hospitality for the visitors in this city.
After the introduction of active trade associations for integrating the several promotion and
mechanism, the tourism business in this city has got flourished (Pokharel & Khanal, 2018).
Significant impact of adventure tourism in Pokhara city for Nepal economy
Pokhara can be considered as one of the important tourism destinations in Nepal.
Pokharel, Poudel and Grala (2016) opined that it is true that due to availability of visitors in the
city, the Nepal government has focused in improving the commercial practices in this city for
ensuring all the infrastructural facilities to the visitors. In the year 2008, through the introduction
of national tourism campaign, Pokhara city has got promoted in tourism sector. Due to political
instability in this country, various numbers of challenges in the market have impacted on the
Nepal tourism sector. However, it is true that after the effective contribution of tourism sector in

GDP rate, the Nepal government has focused on investing in different tourism destinations. The
Tourism industry in Pokhara is encompassed by different sub divisions where the occupational
preferences are different. Analyzing the statistical data based on the trade growth in this city, it
has been identified that involvement of large numbers of population in the tourism sector has
impacted on the Nepal economy. It can be said that almost 60% of the entire tourism revenue
comes from the Pokhara tourism sector. By continuing this, it can also be said that increasing
numbers of media workers as well as improved transportation facility due to tourism
development in this country has brought economic benefits for the local people.
