United Sates of America is known for its liberal thinking and progressive perspective
on a number of aspects like abolition of discrimination, proving women rights, encouraging
equality etc. When an embryo or a fetus is removed from the body of an individual by
surgical means then it is known as Abortion. Sometimes the process takes place naturally and
this is termed as miscarriage and thus Abortion is also known as induced miscarriage. One
such right that has been awarded the women population 42 years ago by the government is
Abortion Licence (Warriner, Ina and Iqbal). This essay is about an appeal for the anti-
abortion legislation.
The circumstances for a woman or a couple to take a decision for abortion can be
numerous based on their personal lives and their perspective. The Abortion license states a
number of terms and conditions which has to be stated for a couple or a women to decide that
they do not want the child. Women represent it as a stance of determining equality; it is a part
of the right to privacy (Lindgren). Unwanted pregnancy can be from a number of reasons;
lack of precaution, non-consensual sexual intercourse (illegal), poor health conditions of the
individual who is carrying the child, or if the individual is financially incapable of bringing
up the child. The Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton cases provide an individual the right to
choose their future and take decisions according to their own will. Women should be
provided with a choice to design their aspirations and future endeavours so that their
capability is not questioned. Some of the features of the Abortion law in the US state that the
procedure should be performed by a licensed physician, etc. The factors vary from one state
to another.
However, it is important for the people to understand the stakes in the situation. One
of the most important aspects is discussed by Erika Bachiochi, she said that it is the
acculturation of the society of believing the compulsion of the society in making women
believe that they have to be as equal as a man is the issues as heighted by Erika Bachiochi
