INTRODUCTION
Employability skills are important because labour market is competitive and companies
looking for people who are more flexible. Similarly, the main aim of this report is to analyse the
importance of such capabilities into any profession. Thus, the chosen profession for this report is
HR Executive within a retail industry which is one of the emerging trend among all. The study
will provide a general trend that impact upon chosen profession and describe the skills and
knowledge required to attain the defined vocation. Lastly, study will also evaluate the
importance of choosing this profession by considering the job advertisement.
ANALYSIS AND APPLICATION

General trend that impact upon chosen profession
Retail industry is one of the fluctuating sector that cause direct impact upon jobs. In
recent era, there are many changes that impact upon the chosen profession such as:
Globalization: It influences organizations and exerts pressure in order to adapt changing
organizational needs which adds greater values (Héder, Szabó and Dajnoki, 2018). The main
function of HR is to recruit and select the candidates as per vacant seats, that is why,
globalization has also brought many transformative changes that benefited people to work in a
diverse workforce.
Technology: One of the emerging trend that affect profession in both positive and
negative manner. Like, AI that solves many issues of HR and as a result business operations are
enhanced as well. However, implementing advance technology i.e. Robotics might affects the
job in adverse manner. Therefore, companies changing their priorities as per the need of
customers/market in order to stay ahead in competition.
Competition for talent: Due to fluctuation in a country's economy, companies are having
their harder time to hiring top talent because of increased competition. Candidates have more
options, and they prefer only those organizations who have brand identity (Tooranloo, Azadi and
Sayyahpoor, 2017). Therefore, HR professionals faces issues to find right talent, otherwise it
might affect the business performance.

By conducting an interview from 2 HR Professionals from a reputed firm, it has been
analysed that starting career in HR profession is one of the good opportunity. Both interviewee

has similar perception with regard to chosen profession and that is why, investing upon such will
assists to provide better opportunities. Moreover, through primary research, it has been also
interpreted that both interviewee that it assists to enhance skills in future as well. Throughout the
primary research, it can be stated that HR profession provides numerous opportunities and it can
have a positive impact upon business because they hire the best talent from many. Apart from
this, they also develop strategies that assists entity to run in positive manner and this in turn
increased skills among HR as well. Interviewees are also satisfied with their current profile
because it provides new growth options which in turn assists to grab many opportunities.
Therefore, opting this as a profession will help individual (including me) to grab better future
opportunities as well.
Skills/knowledge and experience required
To become a HR Executive, it is necessary to possessed strong skills and have enough
knowledge. Through secondary and primary research, it is cleared that there are many scopes
within such profession. However, there are many adverse situations and to deal with the same, it
is essential to have such competency. Apart from this, a good experience in same profession will
also benefit in order to attain the defined target. The list of skills and knowledge is as mentioned
below:
Skills: Communication skills: One of the most common and essential skills that is required by
HR, as they are link between business and an employee. For example, HR with good
communication skills smooth over issues before convey standards clearly (Skills required
in HR, 2020). Moreover, they have to deal with employees at regular basis and that is
why, having strong verbal and written communication skills assists to avoid
miscommunication. Leadership skills: HR manager must have the willingness and ability to understand
employees and this is possible to have strong leadership skills. As they lead an entire
organization and that is why, they possess such ability too (Chytiri, 2019). Having such
trait will assist business to generate best results and also, solve query of employees as
well. They lead entire team by presenting good examples so that employees become
motivated and improve their performance level as well.

Time management: HR have to oversee many rules and responsibilities, for that
effective time management skills is required (Ozernikova, T. and Kuznetsova, N., 2017).
They are also responsible for meeting deadlines and complying with relevant regulation.
Further, managing work as per the time will helps to maintain a good work life balance
and minimize level of stress as well. Organizational skills: Another essential skill that helps HR to manage work accordingly
(Ybema, van Vuuren and van Dam, 2020). They are liaisons between employees and
departments, that is why, managing information or documents pertaining to employee
performance is necessary. Through this, HR maintain positive working culture that helps
to run business effectually. Adaptability skills: HR keep adopting new skills and behaviour in order to response to
changing circumstance. Like, they installed new software for recruitment and this
reflects that HR is enabled to rapidly learn new skills as per market needs.
Decision making skills: Through strong decision-making skills, HR make decision for
the welfare of a company. This skill is mandatory for HR because it helps them to run a
business at further level of success. (Elrayah, 2021) They are connectors of head
department and employers and that is why, they must posses such skill.
Knowledge: Compensation and benefits: HR responsible for workforce planning and that is why,
they have enough knowledge related to employee's benefits. They keep motivates their
employees to work for the betterment of a company and that is why, they possess strong
knowledge regards to employee's compensation i.e. leaves, monetary and non-monetary
benefits etc.
Laws and regulations: To run a business at better level, it is necessary for HR to have
knowledge related to laws defined by government which includes health and safety,
employment act, equal opportunity act etc (Baesens, De Winne and Sels, 2017).
Therefore, having enough knowledge assists business to improve the performance and
make necessary decision as well.
EVALUATION
As per the job advertisement (attached in appendix), I think I am suitable for the vacant
position. I have completed my graduation in Management and also possess strong

communication as well as decision-making skills that is required by the company as well. I am
interested to apply for this job because it provides a strong opportunity for growth. As it will be
my first job and to attain my defined career (HR Executive) the present vacancy will be better
option. Company also required freshers and that is why, I think it is better suits on me.
I am also looking to develop my career in HR profession and working as an HR assistant
will help me to meet my aim. Through the interview, I also analysed that to acquire a higher
position, person have to start from the lowest designation. Similarly, the desired skills required
by the company is actually matched with my existing capability. Therefore, applying for this
post will beneficial for my career. I choose this job opportunity over other because it is of my
interest and the retail industry is experiencing a steady growth. So working with quoted firm will
offer high salary and it also helps in developing the surrounding people. Overall, choosing this
professional over others will offer lot of opportunity in terms of monetary and improve my
personal as well as professional learning too.
No, it is not a new role but it is an emerging role which provides many opportunities to
people which includes use of advance technology within workplace, improve personal as well as
professionals skills etc. Whereas, starting career as a HR professional will provide different
opportunity to groom themselves and develop many growth options too. That is why, I choose
this profession and working in a global retail company also helps to develop many career growth
options as well.
CONCLUSION
By summing up above report it has been concluded that HR profession is one of the most
emerging occupation and it provides many opportunities to an individual as well. It has been
summarized that there are general trends that affect the job within this profession which includes
globalization, technology and stiff competition. Further, through primary research it has been
also concluded that both Interviewee are satisfied with their current job as HR professional, HR
executive. Also, study evaluated that there are 5 skills which must be possessed by HR
professionals such as Communication, organizing, time management, adaptability and decision-
making skills. Along with this, they have knowledge related to compensation & benefits as well
as laws and regulation to run business in effective manner.
