Managers who demonstrate emotional intelligence are essential, particularly in times of organisational change when uncertainty, doubt and confusion can significantly affect productivity and performance levels as well as the personal wellbeing of employees. Understanding how change can impact on the feelings of those concerned requires imagination and recognition of our own fears, anxieties, anger or frustrations when faced by change. Using self-knowledge to effectively support employees and teams transition through change can result in stronger, more connected teams that can continue to perform at high levels even in turbulent times. Use your own experience of a change in your workplace, or one which you are familiar with, to explore through a personal reflection how you felt and responded to it. Consider whether or how your Hum
