INTRODUCTION
The accommodation industry has main focus on offering services according to customer
requirements that are accommodation, food, luxury services etc., the major focus is to keep their
guest happy & satisfied. Role and functions of housekeeping department that is offered different
services to accommodation industry. Along with the specified roles played by security
department in these hospitality organisations.

Review the key roles that are part of housekeeping departments
There are certain key roles that are part of housekeeping department of hospitality
organisations in savoy hotel such roles are mentioned below:
Executive housekeeper: The role of housekeeping staff is to administer all the laundry
facilities and housekeeping to ensure that there is secure environment for all guests (Visser,
Erasmus and Miller, 2017). In Savoy the main role of housekeeper is to work for all seven days
of a week and perform role of scheduling of staff, organizing of work, ensuring cleanliness,
monitor response to all request of clients to maintain the specified standards by top management
(Mody, Suessand Lehto, 2017).
Floor supervisor: Floor supervisor has to manage the front end operations that is
performing of operations, delegation of tasks to from all the employees and ensuring that each
guest has remarkable experience. Floor supervisors in savoy are part of middle management
position who have to perform some of the managerial responsibilities that is delegating work,
depositing money and managing of their subordinates (Rees and French, 2016).
Day maid: In big hospitality brands such as the savoy the responsibilities of maid
includes dusting, mopping, vacuum and removing of dirt, debris from floor and other surfaces.
They have to perform role of drying, washing, folding of towels and bedding (Buonincontri,
Morvillo, Okumus and van Niekerk, 2017). All these assist in maintaining of accurate records so
that all the cleaning tasks are completed every day.
Evening maid: Evening maids have to perform role of washing of carpets, vacuum,
sweeping of surfaces, floors, cleaning of rest rooms, replacing all towels, linens, housecleaning
requests, maintaining of inventory of supplies and cleaning of records (Pycroft and Aziz, 2018).

Housekeeping office coordinator: A housekeeper coordinator is employed as part of
team and has to perform certain daily purpose and operations. They are employed towards
ensuring that housekeeping unit is operating efficiently and meet all the set standards of
performance, standards, timelines and is having proper fit with “Best practises” in the defined
budgetary parameters. These parameters are set by top management with regards to personnel
expense, supply and equipments. In Savoy the housekeeping coordinator is leading to proper
team of custodians. There are several positions that may require to perform their job roles in

with other housekeeping staff members. Housekeeping is a centre circle in wheel that is focus on
maintaining of close contacts indirectly and directly with other hotel departments. There has to
be coordination amongst teams and employees so that safety and security of guests can be
properly maintained (Brien, 2020).

of all the shortcomings that are part of the operational procedures. In Savoy maintenance
department ensures that there are no malfunctions (Mody, Suess and Lehto, 2017).
Maintenance functions is part of strategic investment as helps in generation of more revenue
and improvement of guest satisfaction. Equipment failures can lead to direct negative impact on

hospitality organisation is more precious (Priporas and et.al 2017). There is a need to have
security in hospitality organisation to protect from bombs, shootings and delivery of explosives
into hotel rooms. Nowadays incidents like fraud, stealing, robbing, assaults and robberies are
very common because of it there is a need to have the importance of security in hospitality
organisation.
The Savoy hotel is a five star first luxurious hotel in United Kingdom famous for its
ambience and view of the riven Thames across Savoy palace and the Thames Embankment. It
has been called “ London most famous hotel” across world (Pycroft and Aziz, 2018).
Guests who visit the hotel Savoy always make sure that they are safe and secure during
their stay at the hotel (Douglas, Lubbe and van der Merwe, 2017). At the same time, it is quiet
important for every employee and worker to remain protected and safe while working for the
organisation. Hence it is an required for hotels to have a proper security system in place to
protect the staff, guests and property of the hotel Savoy including equipments, appliances
buildings, gardens and belongings of the guest. There is a need of the management in hotel
Savoy to ensure proper security and safety systems in following areas mentioned below:
1) Staff employees: There is a need of providing the staff lockers, insurance policy, health
schemes and provident funds to every individual employee of the hotel Savoy. Protection
of clothes, sanitized restrooms are all useful things which needs to be provided by the
staff members to their guests (Arjona-Fuentes and et. al., 2019).
2) Hotel equipment: Lifts, Boilers, furniture fitting and kitchen equipments are some
important elements of the Savoy hotel which needs to be protected. There are different
areas of the hotel Savoy such as fire safety, water floods security system, security system
for earthquakes and safe vault security system which needs to be protected.
3) Protection of raw materials and goods are some of the protection which is very important
and it should cover with proper storage from the application of goods management
system.
