Assessment Context
In the Graduate Diploma Strategic Leadership course, you will develop
specialised knowledge and skills required from the individuals performing at the
range of strategic leadership and management roles. You will gain advanced
cognitive and creative skills to make high level autonomous decisions. You will
develop the abilities to review, critically analyse, consolidate and synthesise
knowledge, and will be able to use these skills to generate new ideas and
initiatives, and resolve complex problems.
You will be assessed through comprehensive project at the end of this unit. You
will be required to complete your project contextualizing an organization from the
industry of your choice (in a simulated environment; at MVC boardroom where
your organisation’s boardroom can be simulated for meetings, presentations and
roleplays). You will be assessed through practical professional scenarios for your
independent decision making, and to use your initiative and judgement to plan
and implement a range of leadership and management functions in diverse
contexts. As you have joined this course after adequate qualification and/or
experience, you are expected to complete unit assessments including
comprehensive project reflecting your professional competence as a manager,
team leader, executive office, or a director of your organization. You are
encouraged to apply your acquired knowledge and skills attained during this
course in practical scenarios to polish your professional competence and skills.
You are expected to read through the study guide in detail before attempting to
complete the assessments. You are also advised to extend your learning
through additional learning material such as text books, newspaper and journal
articles, case studies, online resources, and talking to professionals around you.
Assessment Task
As a part of your studies you will be required to complete a range of
assessments associated with this unit of study.
In order to complete this unit of study, undertake the following assessment tasks
as directed by the trainer/assessor:
Part 1: Knowledge Assessment
To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, you must:
explain how diversity policy and initiatives apply within human resource,
management and other operational functions and areas
explain diversity, including issues of racism, sexism, ageism, ethnicity,
sexual orientation, religious beliefs, physical and intellectual abilities, gender,
culture, religion, discrimination, harassment and victimisation

Assessment
outline the legislative and regulatory context of the organisation with
reference to equal employment opportunity, equity and diversity
develop organisation-specific proposals for taking action on diversity and
outline how these proposals can convince the organisation's senior
management
give examples of the critical influence of organisational culture on the
success of diversity objectives
describe the nature of cultural change and the influence that can be exerted
when cultural change is initiated from the higher echelons of management
describe the positive relationships between strategic management of
diversity and the organisation's core business and strategic goals
For your assessment, to confirm the above requirements, you will need to
complete the knowledge questionnaire contained within this study guide –
commencing on page 85.
Part 2: Performance Assessment
You need to complete a performance-based assessment to verify your ability to
convert your knowledge into practical application. You need to provide evidence
of your ability to:
research, analyse and communicate legislation, regulations and initiatives for
diversity
work with stakeholders to develop and communicate a shared vision and
strategic priorities for managing diversity
integrate diversity policies and procedures within and across all human
resource, management and operational functions and areas of the business
including strategic plans and key performance indicators, policies and
procedures, training, and recruitment
develop, support and resource initiatives to attract and advance equity
groups including identifying and celebrating success, and modelling different
leadership styles
monitor and review diversity priorities and processes.
Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be
provided at least once.
Major Project: To satisfy the above requirements you are to undertake a
Major Project as shown on page 94.
You should use this study guide together with external resources such as the
internet and library as a guide to structuring your answers/responses.

What of you need to consistently demonstrate throughout your
personal dealings within and on behalf of the organisation?
Rewarding the Ethical Behaviour is the first and foremost aspect which needs to be managed
by the company as it will be creating peer as well as supervisor nomination system which will
be suitable in recognizing the employees for the ethical behaviour.
Adaption of the ongoing practice for broadening the thinking which will be suitable for the
growth of the company and it will be beneficial in improving my personal ethics and it can be
incorporated in the workplace and the challenges can be making the person stronger in
nature.
Question 2:
What activities can you undertake to develop and maintain a
high level of expertise related to ethics and standards?
Proper usage of the tailored scenarios for making the training realistic in nature as it will be
helpful for customizing to address the group of learners and make it real in nature.
Proper choosing of the engaging style for matching the branding guidelines is the other aspect
which can be suitable for maintaining high level of expertise to standards and ethics which will
be requiring license for branding the product as there are copyrights and patents included in it.
Proper updating of the content for the periodic reinforcement of the training is the other aspect
which can be incorporated by the company through gaining ownership.

Question 3:
What are the three types of complex ethical matters you may
need to be able to interpret and provide accurate legislative and
organisational advice to resolve?
Diversity and Respectful Workplace is the most complex aspect wherein there are issues
related to trust and integrity and enforcement of the equal opportunity can be a huge issue in
the workplace for the employers and employees negatively.
Governance and Compliance Issues- It is the other complex ethical issue wherein businesses
cannot guarantee to implement the different environment related policies for the growth of the
company.
Issues related to Decision-Making- It is the last complex issue wherein there are different
ethical dilemmas on protecting employees, however it cannot be changed all the time.

List at least six examples of the types of suspected unethical
conduct required to be reported confidentially and promptly.
Mis usage of the time of the company- It can be seen that employees working in the company
do not meet their targets and it affects productivity of the company negatively.

Employee Theft- It can be analyzed that employees take home office supplies along with
usage of the business practices which can affect bottom line of company in a negative
manner.
Abusive Behaviour- When a new employee joins the organization, there can be abusive
behaviour from peers which can affect the growth of the company negatively.
Violating the internet policies of the company- It is the other aspect wherein the policies are
violated by employees which is known as cyberbullying.
Lying to the Employees- It is the other major aspect wherein more than 60% of the employers
lie to their subordinates which affects their trust
Wages and Working Conditions- There can be unethical ways of making the employees work
beyond the working hours.

What strategy development activities may be conducted to act
on the strengths, weaknesses and threats to ethical conduct in
the organisation identified through analysis of trends?
With the help of the SWOT Analysis, the different kinds of analysis can be done with
strengths, weaknesses along with threats to the ethical conduct of the company can be
identified. It is helpful for the business in identifying what is right and what is wrong for the
business and what is required to be changed in the company. It is considered to be the
methodology which assists the companies in building the proper strategic plan for meeting the
various goals and improve the operations and keep the business relevant and ethical in
nature.
