gaps in knowledge regarding the chosen topic?
Yes the study identified two systematic reviews that discussed about how health professionals are not
familiar with physical activity guidelines and the literature focusses on the how the behavioural change
is a very important protocol in the management of obesity and how the staffs are not prepare to
manage the obesity due to lack of knowledge and educations pertaining to same (Sartelli, 2019). The
opposing views are proposed as well such as only some staffs from certain disciplines need to know
about behavioural therapies and the physical therapy treatments and the others do not need to know
about it (Montesi et al., 2016). The gaps in knowledge are identified as most literature focussed on the
importance of staff training and skill development and not on the implementation and execution criteria
with multidisciplinary collaboration (Chagot et al., 2017).
2h) Does the discussion relate to the research question or aim?
The discussion on the physical therapy and the behavioural management of the obese patients by the

2l) Were there any limitations noted?
The limitations that were identified in relation to the research article is that there is confirmation and
anchoring bias that is present content and the researchers of the study has not addressed the same
properly. Although the ethical and the cultural considerations are met, but at times towards the end of
the research article, the content digresses from the research purpose.
2m) Briefly summarise the findings and conclusion.
The study summarizes that the health care staffs and the health care practitioners must be trained in
order to develop the behavioural change skills that is required to treat the patients who has obesity.
According to the study, it is also very important that the staffs are trained on communication and
collaboration to address the treatment needs. The policies and the regulations in relation to the
management of the weight loss in pediatrics and management of nutritional intake is important and the
study recommends a multidisciplinary collaboration to address the client needs.

plan based on your research outcomes.
It is very important to understand that the collaboration and the various types of the interaction and
cultural communication skills is important to treat the obese patients in the nursing settings. It is highly
important that the various aspects of the counselling skills are learned and applied by the health care
staffs including the nursing staffs in order to develop a more effective patient centred care to the
subjects. In this study, it is emphasized that the staff training and staff development sessions in terms
of cultural and interpersonal skills that is very important to address the interdisciplinary needs of the
obese patients in the mental health department. It is highly important that the various types of the
counselling methods such directive, eclectic and non-directive counselling processes are taught and
learned by the nurses properly as they are the professionals who are responsible to deliver a very
effective patient centred care in the clinical scenario. The interpersonal skills are required to
collaborate with physical therapist and occupational therapists in order to improve the activities and
energy expenditure balance in the obese patients. In the future as well, as a nurse, I would be taking
up the staff development session in order to improve the cultural and interpersonal skills for
multidisciplinary practice and management of obesity.
