Introduction
It is important to acquire the personal and professional skills for the achievement of the strategic
objectives of the organization. Moreover, the strategic manager is required to have certain skills
for heading towards the strategic direction of the company (Choy & Chua, 2019). Also, there
are various qualities which are required for the performance of various tasks which are
prescribed under this role. Evaluation of personal skills and making efforts for the improvement
of the skills is necessary for the attainment of the as goals of the organization. Here, the report is
based on my professional development for strategic manager of the chosen company Apple
which is the multinational technology company. The report will describe my personal skills audit
which I would make for the professional development and also the significant ways for
improving my skills and knowledge for the providing the strategic direction to Apple. It has also
elaborated my plan for achieving and developing the strategic skills for the purpose of making
efforts for the accomplishment of goals of the future.
Appropriate Methods for Evaluating Personal Skills
For the achievement of strategic goals of the organization, it is crucial to determine own personal
skills which will lead to the attainment of the strategic goals. There are several methods for the
development of the evaluation of the personal skills which will provide the capability for dealing
with different business scenarios and gaining capability to make the important decisions (Asah,
et al., 2015). The following are some of the methods that I would use for the evaluating my
personal skills:
Time Management
Time management refers to the allocation of the time for making the productive outcome. Time
is treated as valuable part of the business. Productive outcomes can be created through the
appropriate distribution of time for various activities which is the important aspect for the
strategic managers (Grissom, et al., 2015). In the light of evaluation of the personal skills, I
would develop the method for the management of the time for different tasks which can be used
strategically. For achieving the strategic goals in the organization, I would make the time
management for the planning of the activities and avoid the wastage of time.

Problem Solving and Decision-Making Skills
In the light of the skills for the achievement of the strategic goals, problem solving and decision-
making skills which are the key strategic skills for the management of the workforce (Proctor,
2018). Further, skills are required for the critical decision making and solve the operational
issues and problems. Moreover, I would develop my decision-making skills through the
identification of the problem and make further actions on the right time. Also, I would make the
proper decision making after the evaluation of the several alternatives. Effective problem solving
can help me in the coping with different scenarios and also coping with the alternates for the
development of the ways for the achievement of the strategic objectives.
Communication Skills
Effective communication skills are required for making interaction with the employees and
subordinates so that there is effective communication of the ideas. Further, strategic manager
requires to be communicative for the communication of the desired message to the other people
(Rourke, et al., 2019). My personal skills are evaluated to be highly communicative so that I
can effectively communicate the mission, vision and objectives of the company. Also, I would
develop the communication skills in front of the subordinates so that the message is
communicated more effectively and make an impression on the subordinates through showing
the level of confidence. Also, I would make use of the methods for the communication of the
strategy and achieve the strategic objectives of the organization.
Creative Management Skills
Management skills are required for the creation of robust culture which can be helpful in making
a step towards the goals and objectives of the organization and also through the proper
management of the workplace activities which can create a better productivity at the workplace
(Goodman & Dingli, 2017). Moreover, I have creative management skills as I can make the
management of the challenging tasks and can also make the management of the problems which
are certainly required for the achievement of the strategic goals of the organization.

Assessment of Professional Skills for Strategic Direction
Professional skills are required for the facilitation of the strategic direction to the organization.
Moreover, as a strategic manager of Apple, the manager is required to have set of professional
skills which can support the company in the gaining of the strategic direction. Based on my
understanding of my personal skills, techniques can be used for the assessment of the
professional skills for the strategic manager are discussed as above:
Self-Awareness
It is related with the awareness of own abilities, skills and weaknesses in order to act accordingly
and perform the set of operations. Self-awareness is the basic skill required for the professionally
competent strategic manager (Caldwell & Hayes, 2016). The manager who has right
knowledge of the skills and the abilities can lead to the successful future. Based on the
understanding of the personal skills, it can be said that the strategic manager must be aware of
their qualities which can be applied to the company and can certainly help the company to get
the strategic direction and achieve success in the long run.
Motivation Skills
Strategic manager should have the professional skills which comprise of the motivation skills.
This involves the ability of the manager to influence and support the other members into the
organization. Strategic manager motivates the employees and align their goals towards the
strategic goals of the company (Yukl, 2012). Also, the manager has the skills for motivating the
other person to improve the performance and also make use of the certain skills for creating
enthusiasm and energy in the other person which can lead to the satisfaction of needs of the
employees and also leading to gaining of the goals which can lead to dealing with the problems
more effectively.
Leadership Skills
Effective leadership is required for diverting the efforts of the employees towards the strategic
direction of the company. Moreover, leadership is regarded as the quality of making the
employee’s efforts focused on the end goal. Further, strategic manager is assessed to have
effective leadership skills as this can certainly lead to the encouragement of the subordinate and
