TASK 1
In the highly competitive era satisfaction of workers towards the organization is very
essential. But now firms have analysis the problem that business partners or employees are
demotivated. This issue is being resolved by mechanical means. Companies think that by
introducing non monetary rewards and recognition schemes they can change the attitude and
behaviour of human being in the entities. But these strategies do not give expected results, so it is
necessary to introduce some new programs which can patch up the initial programs.
Management is making several strategies for motivating people, there are four element which
supports to performance improvement programs; research, skills development, communication
and rewards/ incentives. Unethical behaviour, decrease corporation etc. are some issues which
are related with the non monitory rewards. In every three or four years senior executive review
the plan and modify it as per the requirement. Several changes taken place such as team
structure, reward choice etc. Furthermore, it is found that gift cards encourages people in the
workplace.
Incentives vs. Recognition
Incentives and recognition are differed from each other. It is stated that recognition is just
for employees whereas incentives are gives to sales persons. It is very expensive for an entity to
give a lavish reward to good performer all the time so they provide them recognition for
motivating them. On other hand sales job is little unsecure job if they go beyond their target then
via incentives they can have job security. The another main difference between them is that
recognition is for long term but incentives are provided month to month so it is for short
duration. By giving recognition to employees company can earn their loyalty whereas incentives
encourage people and firm for quick tactical change in the working process.
Does recognition really work
If a worker perform its duties well and provides exceptional services to corporation then
many organizations recognize their performance publicly. But many times enterprises just give
small reward to say thanks for their unexpected commercial deals. It is very necessary to praise a
good performer in appropriate manner so that it could not demotivate other persons. Because
some times it creates negativity on the floor. As it is fact that administrative staff get small
rewards than sales person. So this some times make them negative towards the firm. Praise can

harm the effectiveness so managers need to look upon the context and accordingly should
provide them praise and recognition.
The balance scorecard
It is the key performance indicator, it evaluates the performance of individual. The main
trouble in this is that when advisers get their teeth into it then it makes it complicated and
complex. When managers include complexity in different job roles and divisions then this
complicated situation fails the interlocking motivation programs. By this way people become
unable to understand their responsibilities. Thus, it will harm their individual performance in the
workplace. The easiest solution of this problem is that to make it simple, it will be beneficial and
people will participate willingly in accomplishing the goal of the organization.

TASK 2
Introduction
Gun ownership is very common in United State, It is for self defence. But in many cases
gun ownership becomes the cause of increasing terrorism. It is statistical fact that in US approx
55million or more than people hold guns for their own purpose. Data shows that 22% Americans
have more than two guns. Gun ownership is the emerging issue in America. Present research
will discuss the issue that should government put restriction on guns or not (Wolf and Rosen,
2014).
Main Body
Some people have positive though that guns are necessary for their own protection but
others have negative views that guns should not be in the hands of citizens (Shootout: Do We
Need More Gun Control Regulation?, 2008).
In the year 2012 one case happened in US that a gunman has killed 20 school children in
New town. It has become the national discussion topic that government should bend private
ownership of guns. It is stated that to hold guns or weapons are not safe for children and other
population. Due to carelessness many accidents have occurred which are of great example of this
that holding guns are very risky (Hoyt and Duffy, 2015). Government has made many laws to
reduce criminal activities but still in many places criminals are willing purchasing weapons
without any background checks. It is very necessary to modify the laws and make it strict so that
no citizen can purchase gun so easily. Gun legislations are completely based on state ruling. In
2009 one case occurred in which terrorist has attacked over state and killed 2793 children and 75
adults. It was found that individual had purchased the gun without ant background check that is
why this case happened. Semi-automatic weapons are only allow to military persons but due to
inadequate laws people are taking ownership of guns, it is illegal (Gun Control Around the
World: A Primer, 2016). It is an inherent issue and immediately needs to address. It is stated that
gun ownership needs to be restricted for reducing the criminal activities from the nation. Apart
from this for the protection and welfare of public it is very necessary to make effective control
over gun ownership.
On other hands government has made amendment in legislation because founders believe
that it is very necessary to hold gun (Swanson and et.al, 2015). It is for safety and self protection.

If it is for that it is increasing the criminal activities then it is not the mistake of guns holders. As
if guns are outlawed then also terrorist will find another way to get weapons. It is the duty of
concern authorities to make record of each gun, its licence number. Earlier government were
maintaining the registers. Police first investigate the case, find relevant evidence then take action
against the criminal. But in emergency for self protection it is very necessary to have gun
ownership (Shootout: Do We Need More Gun Control Regulation?, 2008). It is not the issue of
gun ownership, the problem is system and its execution. If everyone obey the laws and it is well
executed then it will not essential to enforce existing laws.
Conclusion
From the above discussion it can be said that ‘The United States should not put more
restrictions on gun ownership, it just have to make people aware with existing laws so that they
follow and obey these legislations. Guns do not kill people, it just some criminals use it for
wrong purpose. So here is necessary to make effective regulations so that no misuse of weapon
can happen.

TASK 3
Introduction
Motivation is essential aspect to run business significantly. Management are making
several strategies to motivate its employees. There are various theories such as Maslow,
Herzberg, Vroom, McGregor, Taylor, Fayol, Mayo etc. Present task will focus on two Maslow
and Herzberg concepts of motivation. It will cover my own experience o using these modules in
my workplace.
Main body
I am working is ASDA since long time, currently I am in the post of HR manager. I
found that team members are very demotivated, they do not pay much attention on their
responsibilities. Some time they behave rude with customers. I analysed this situation and taken
support of Maslow motivation theory. This concept stats about five needs of human being. I first
identify the physiological wants of my executives. I identified that they are having food, clothing
requirements. I provided them accommodation facilities. This boosted their energy and they have
started performing well in the workplace. Then I focused on their safety needs, for that I
provided them insurance cover. I was average in communication but due the this study I have to
interact more with employees to find out their desires. This helped me in improving my
communication skills. Then I identified their love affection needs, I make healthy friendly
environment so they become able to share their feelings with each other. It created motivated
good environment. Esteem needs helped me to identify my own responsibilities. I learned so
much and improved my knowledge about my duties. By this way I become able to make my
executive understand about their roles. Self actualization needs supported me to making people
perfect.
I also took support of Herzberg theory, my experience was this was totally differed than
earlier. This concept focuses on two main element hygiene and motivation factors. I have taken
the motivational component for that, I started understanding people and I encouraged them by
making work like balance and by rewarding them. I also consider the hygiene factor it has
increased m knowledge and research skills.
