A Chosen organisation
Indicate which aviation organisations has been chosen and provide a brief justification
for your choice.
Your focus throughout the project will be on the organisation chosen so make sure you
can access information related to it. Your justification should be brief and should focus
more on the organisation’s relevance to the protests rather than availability of
information (150 words max.).
Cathay Pacific has been considered for the purpose of compiling this study Cathay Pacific
Airways is another title for the company. The corporation's headquarters are located at
The Hong Kong International Airport, as well as it serves a wide range of markets,
including greater than 60 nations and 190+ destinations. Given fact that numerous business
organizations sectors have been impacted by protests in 2019-2020, one key major
reason for selecting this aviation organization is that this is a symbol for the Hong-Kong
aviation, that is driven by Chinese industry. Various causes and elements that were affected
by such a protest have been taken into consideration by the respective organizations.
Keeping in mind the different causes and aspects that resulted from protest, respective
organization would be able to reflect on the majority of these variables to have a clearer
understanding of material facts to also be presented in meta-analysis. Furthermore, since
the chosen organization has strong ties to Chinese market, this would be able to meet or
explain all of the project's requirements (Li and Cui, 2020).

(The maximum number of words for Task C is 250.)
Firstly, find 3 appropriate sources to carry out this analysis. Present the details of each
source according to UCB referencing guidelines. (Remember, the guidelines vary
depending on the nature of the source.)

Source 1: Joseph A Schumpeter (2003). Capitalism, Socialism and Democracy . London:
Taylor & Francis e-Library. 250
Source 2: Luis Tapia (2011). El estado de derecho como tiranía . La Paz , Bolivia: CIDES-
UMSA. 171.
Source 3: Schumpeter, J., 1956, Capitalism, Socialism and Democracy, New
York: Harper and Row.
Secondly, complete the table below to show 3 definitions of ‘democracy’ (one from each
source) and some key points relating to the term.
Author (year) Definition Key points

C Current trends in aviation
Based on the given data sets, determine the nature of current trends in the aviation
sector.
You have three sets of data to consider, each represented by a table. These are given
below:
Table 1: Key operational results for Hong Kong International airport, 2016 to 2020.
2016 2017 2018 2019 2020*
Passenger numbers 70,513,00
0
72,866,000 74,672,000 71,543,00
0
8,835,000
Aircraft movements 412,000 421,000 428,000 420,000 161,000
Cargo handled (tonnes) 4,521,000 4,937,000 5,121,000 4,809,000 4,473,000
(*Estimate) Source: hongkongairport.com
Based on the aforementioned table it can be concluded that no. of passengers,
aircrafts movements and cargo carried in 2020 will be lower. Based on current
developments in respective aviation industry, it can be concluded that these industries are
striving to provide passengers with more convenience and a better flight experience than-
ever before. All initiatives and policies are aimed at accelerating growth of such sectors
while minimizing the impact of different outside and internal factors on a corporation 's
operations (Xue, Shen, Wang and Zafar, 2020).
Table 2: Traffic results for Cathay Pacific, 2018 to 2020.
2018 2019 2020
Passengers (m) 35.5 35.2 4.6
RPKs (m) 130,626 134,397 20,079
ASKs (m) 155,361 163,244 34,609
LF (%) 84.1 82.3 58.0
Source: Airline Business; cathaypacific.com
By analyzing data from the aforementioned table, it can be deduced that the number of
passengers during year 2019 remained lower than in during 2020; in reality, this year saw a
major drop from 35.5 during year 2018 to around 4.6 in 2020. In conjunction, RPKs,
ASKs, as well as LF percent all decreased in same 2020. In light of the existing
trends in aviation industry, a sustainable solution is being considered in order to reach a
large audience by providing high-quality services (Wong, Wines and Li, 2017).
