CASE ORGANISATION FOR THE PROJECT(if not using your own organisational project)
Project Organisation: FRONTIER TOURING
Website: https://www.frontiertouring.com
(Information partly sourced from Frontier’s website)
Frontier Touring is one of the most respected, long standing, and proactive concert promoters in
Australasia. Formed in 1979, Frontier has had a fundamental role in entertaining Australians and New
Zealanders across three decades. This event management organisation that organises hundreds of
concert projects in Australia is headed by Michael Gudinski. Frontier Touring has developed into one
of the most highly respected touring companies in the Southern Hemisphere and continues to
produce some of the most memorable tours to ever visit "down under".Since forming, Frontier Touring
has toured some of the worlds most established and up and coming artists. Many of the most
successful tours were the result of years of planning and the gradual (or sometimes meteoric)
increase in venue size from tour to tour over the span of an artist's career.
1989 saw a major coup for Frontier Touring with the Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Liza Minnelli
Ultimate Event shows in Sydney and Melbourne. The shows, which were overwhelmingly well
received in Australia, sadly proved to be Sammy Davis Jr.'s last trip down under, with the performer
passing away the following year.Frontier Touring continued to raise the bar on tours to Australasia
presenting the biggest concerts in the history of Australian rock music with the Guns N' Roses tour at
Eastern Creek, Sydney (71,000) and Calder Park, Melbourne (66,000) in 1993. These events have
been hailed as the best run, organised and most trouble-free concerts ever.

It was to be less than a year, however, before Frontier was to top this incredible success with
Madonna's Girlie Show Tour - an event that saw the realisation of five years of planning. It was
without doubt the biggest tour Australia had ever seen, with more than 500,000 people attending.
In 2003 Frontier Touring continued to predict trends ahead of the rest. When the name Norah Jones
meant little to anyone, Frontier had her signed and committed to tour Australia. Eight Grammy Awards
later, with sell out shows across Australia and the world, Norah Jones is now one of the most
successful artists this decade, returning in 2005 for a major arena and winery tour.2005 was another
massive year for Frontier with Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams, Michael Franti, Xzibit, Diana Krall, Ben
Lee, John Legend, Norah Jones, Green Day, Simple Plan, Velvet Revolver, The Dears, Death From
Above 1979, Madeleine Peyroux, Dogs Die In Hot Cars, The Used, Foo Fighters, John Fogerty, Black
Eyed Peas, and many, many more gracing our shores.
2006 proved to be another huge year for Frontier as the company continued to grow and strengthen
its position as Australia and New Zealand's leading concert promoter. James Blunt, Taking Back
Sunday, David Gray, Split Enz, Dashboard Confessional, Arctic Monkeys, The Countdown
Spectacular, Rockstar - Taste Of Chaos 06, The Strokes, and the Foo Fighters at Sydney Opera
House were just a sample of the exciting and diverse talent that toured under the Frontier banner.Billy
Joel, Kylie, AFI, Rise Against, Modest Mouse, Tenacious D, Madeleine Peyroux, Lionel Richie, Tim
Finn, The Killers, Crowded House, Arctic Monkeys, Christina Augilera, Kaiser Chiefs, Snow Patrol and
many more headed to Australia in 2007, which Justin Timberlake's FutureSex/LoveShow tour had
audiences and critics alike declaring it the tour of 2007.2008 was a huge year for Frontier, with the
company scoring the coveted #1 Australasian Promoter spot. With over 40 tours across the year
Australian and New Zealand audiences were entertained by some of the world's most exciting artists,
including PJ Harvey, Rod Stewart, The Police, Maroon 5, Foo Fighters, Simple Plan, Snow Patrol,
Billy Joel, Crowded House, Sting & Edin Karamazov, Anti-Flag, MGMT and Kylie.
In the 2008 Pollstar End Of Year results, Frontier continued it's reign as Australasia's #1 Concert
Promoter, coming in the number 15 spot Internationally with its closest Australasian competitor
coming in at 27.2009 followed suit for Frontier, bringing spectacular tours including Kings of Leon, The
Black Eyed Peas, Leonard Cohen, Rise Against and Fall Out Boy amongst many others to the
Australian and New Zealand concert going public. Melbourne's event - held at the iconic MCG - drew
over 80 000 patrons, cementing it as the largest concert event in Australian history. Bringing together
artists including Midnight Oil, Split Enz, Hunters & Collectors, Kings of Leon, Liam Finn and Bliss N
Eso, Sound Relief was an event most of Australia will remember for some time to come.
2010 saw Frontier Touring turn 30 and celebrate their 500th tour with the illustrious Tom Jones and an
array of massive tours including Leonard Cohen, Eagles and many more. Frontier Touring also had
the first show in a new Hanging Rock concert series where the incomparable Leonard Cohen took his
infamously serene performances to the iconic Hanging Rock in Victoria's Macedon Ranges.

In 2011, Frontier continued to tour the finest home-grown and international stars with the year seeing
the return of Kylie, Kings of Leon, Bryan Adams, Lionel Richie, Stone Temple Pilots and Foo Fighters
to name a few, as well as the Australian & NZ live debuts of a new crop including Sleigh Bells, Bruno
Mars and Justin Bieber. 2012 heralded the return of international favourites, including shows from
Maroon 5, James Morrison, The Script, Rod Stewart, Hall & Oates and Arctic Monkeys. On headlining
debut were up-and-comers including Ed Sheeran and alt-J, who both put on shows to remember.
2013 saw great success for both Frontier and touring artists with the debut Australian shows of a
number of exciting acts. These included sought-after shows from the likes of Imagine Dragons, Robert
Delong and Bastille. Similarly, the response to Ed Sheeran in 2012 had been so great that he came
back to play ten shows in late February. Australian music also featured, with Bliss N Eso and Jimmy
Barnes playing killer shows, and the project organisationwas graced with the presence of legends in
the form of Bryan Adams’ arena tour and Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band’s ‘Wrecking Ball’
tour, which saw tickets sell out at a record pace. The year ended on a high, with Taylor Swift’s ‘Red’
stadium tour - the first across Australia by a solo female artist in 20 years.
In 2014 The organisation welcomed Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band back Down Under
following massive demand for their 2013 Wrecking Ball Tour and the greatest rock'n'roll band in the
world The Rolling Stones brought the 14 On Fire Tour to Australia and New Zealand. In 2015 alone
they toured 58 tours made up of 256 shows including the Eagles, Foo Fighters, Drake, alt-J, Kylie
Minogue and Rod Stewart amongst so many more. The company wrapped up the year with 41 shows
in a fifteen day period from Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Rise Against, Rudimental, Lucinda
Williams, Thurston Moore Band, Bully and One Electric Day. The one and only John Farnham played
our final concert for the year, performing at Sydney's Qantas Credit Union Arena before its closure.
In 2017 Frontier Touring were treated to a variety of homegrown and international talent including
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Justin Bieber, Julia Jacklin, Dan Sultan, Midnight Oil,
Orchestrated, RNB Fridays Live, Lorde, Harry Styles and Paul Kelly to name just a few! 2017 also
saw one incredibly acclaimed and revered artist return to Australia and New Zealand for the first time
since 1993 – Sir Paul McCartney attracted sold-out crowds and rave reviews across seven
unforgettable One On One shows in December. In 2018, Frontier Touring is planning for several
concert organising projects in Australia that includes world famous musicians and bands such as
Boyz II Men, Clean Bandit, Ed Sheeran, Foo Fighters, Harry Styles, Imagine Dragons, James Blunt,
Sam Smith, etc.
Project Situations & Ideas for Frontier Touring: Since Frontier Touring is a big organisation that
organises massive concert projects it would be suitable for you to select a particular sub-project of a
giant project. Given that the organisation is planning to have a massive event this year on Australia
Day Concert, the event will include stars such Kylie Minogue, Bruno Mars, John Legend, Keith Urban,
Jimmy Barnes and Maroon 5.

media, televisions, VIP guests, and the local community in general.

case organisation details.
Your tasks include defining the parameters of the project, using project management tools to develop
and implement project plan, consulting and communicating with relevant stakeholders to generate
input and engagement, finalise the project including documentation and review the project outcomes.
