Scenario
You have been appointed as team leader of a group of international business
consultants. In your role as the leader you will need to understand the impact of
globalisation, international economy and culture on business organisations in general.
Task 1
Your task is to choose a UK organisation that operates
internationally and prepare a report to an international trade
expert within the UK Government. Your report should include the
following:
Explain the importance of international business to the selected organisation
and to the UK economy.
Explain the significance of imports and exports to the UK economy. You need
to look at the data on the value and volume of activity together with recent
trends imports and exports.
Explain the factors that encourage and/or restrict international trade.
Membership in the EU and non-membership of European Monetary Union
should be considered as part of the explanation.
Undertake PESTLE analyses of one of the new countries in which your
selected organisation might choose to operate in:
For each heading, choose and evaluate two factors/issues/problems –
for example, interest rates and inflation as part of the evaluation of
economic forces.
Analyse the cultural factors in different countries that might affect businesses
choosing to operate in those countries.
