INTRODUCTION Communication is defined as act of transferring data and information from one persontoanotherinordertoexchangeideas,viewsandopinions(Whatis Communication, 2019). There are four types of communication such as written, visual, verbal and non-verbal which helps in communicating with each other. In this report, there is discussion about different types of non-verbal communication, their roles and aspects. It also cover relationship and affect between non-verbal communication and speaking & listening skills. MAIN BODY 1) Types of non-verbal communication with examples Non-verbal communication is defined as those which occurs without use of any written or oral word. This relies on non-verbal cues such as tasks, symbols, charts, physical movements, colours, signals for expressing attitude, feeling and information (NonverbalCommunication:Definition,Types,Importance(Explained),2017).The different types of non-verbal communication with examples are described below: EyeContact- This helps in regulating flow of communication through help of eyes. Here, eye contact with gathering helps in increasing credibility of speakers. For example, manager of organisation doing eye contact during meeting helps in increasing concern, credibility, warmth and interest. FacialExpression-Ithelpsinshowingindexofmindwhichisimportant communicator. This helps in expressing feelings or emotions like love, anger, confusion, joy, interest, sorrow, fear, hatred, uncertainty, surprise. For example, facial expression are done through mouth (open, closed), nose (relaxed, wrinkled), eyelids (raised or lowered) and others. BodyLanguage- This helps in conveying message or meanings which has two forms such as controlled and unconscious movements. For example, when an individual is nervous, they mash hair or bite nails. This represents confidence level of people in front of others.
2) Role of non-verbal communication plays in communication Non-verbal communication carries lots of purpose and power having different avenues for taking it. This helps in majority of communicating with individual and group ofpeople.Itassistinrepresentingoneselfwherecommunicationisdone subconsciously. This probably covers more communication than actual speaking. Non- verbal communicating carries 55% of body language, 38% of tone & pitch of voice and remaining 7% of words which are used for communicating (The Roles Of Nonverbal Communication,2018). There are different roles which non-verbal communication plays while communicating with others. They are described below: Repetition- It is defined where message from conversation is continued after talking is done. It includes facial expression, eye contact and others which helps in strengthening and validating message which is spoken. Contradiction- This highlights untruthfulness which somebody may carry while speaking with others. There are many situation arise where eye contact is done. When any person is telling lying then there is lack of eye contact and when there is fire sign of honesty then eye contact is maintained with that person. Therefore, eye contact helps in knowing about behaviour of an individuals. Complementing- It is the another role of non-verbal communication where pat on the back is done for complementing people. This represents good job done at work place where boss appreciate by patting on back. This types of role also comes in other ways such as thumbs up. 3) Identify and discuss three aspects of non-verbal communication In current scenario, it is more easy to do communication through face to face rather than over phone or computer. These helps in communicating with each other in effective and efficient manner for better result achievement. There are different aspects ofnon-verbalcommunicationarefacialexpression,posture,paralanguage, physiologicalchanges,bodymovements,eyecontact,proxemics(7Aspectsof Nonverbal Communication, 2019). Out of which, three of them are explained below: Posture- This is critical in nature for making strong impression. The way of sitting and standing by individual is perceived by others. straight back represents assurance, strength and confidence whereas individual who is sloughed or facing head to floor indicate indifference, weakness, uncertainty. Physiological Changes- It is related with discomfort or anxiety. The blushing, teary eyes, sweatingallrepresents aboutthatsomeone is illat ease. Whenever someone is feeling nerves then they should be made comfortable. Proxemics- This is defined as the space or distance maintained with different people. If someone is very close then distance maintained is less than with unknown person. In case of business conversation, distance is far enough for making individual comfortable. 4) Relationship between non-verbal communication and speaking & listening skills Thereisaneffectiverelationshipbetweennon-verbalcommunicationand speaking & listening skills while communicating with individuals (Guang and Trotter, 2012). With relationship they can build trust and honesty with each others. Here, non- verbal communication includes posture, facial expression, eye contact and so on. When individual communicate through such then person should be able to understand what theywanttocommunicate.Similarly,therearemanysituationswhenperson understandnon-verbalcommunicationthroughlisteningskillsbyshowingposture, gesture and so on. If it is done in effective manner, then there can be good relationship among non-verbal communicator and speaking & listening skills. 5) Discuss how non-verbal communication can affect speaking and listening skills Non-verbal communication is the easiest way of communicating with each other through help of posture, facial expression, body movements, eye contact and so on (Hynes, 2012). When people is doing communication through eye expression, then another individual should be able to understand in positive manner otherwise it can change the direction of communication. Both speaking and listening skills should be good for communicating with each other for better outcomes. For example, if someone is sad then through their facial expression it can be known, in such case both listener and speaker can understand situation of that person. Therefore, if it is performed and understand by other, then it create positive impact otherwise it impact negatively to business and activities.
CONCLUSION From the above report, it has been concluded that communication is defined as processofsharingdataandinformationfromonepersontoanother.Non-verbal communication are done through use of body language, posture, gesture and so on. Theseplaydifferentroleinachievinggoalandobjectivesofbusiness.Thereis relationship among such communication and speaking & listening skills.
