INTRODUCTION
The term business focus report which provides various information that are related to
firm operations, production and many particular departments are to be determined (Alawi and
Belfaqih, 2019). The goal of this report is to raise their profile of such nations within global
community to attract many foreign investors. For this assessment, chosen organization is Marks
& Spencer is multinational retailer that would be specializes in selling clothing, home products
or food products also. in this report, various topics are covered such as HR issues or challenges
and responsibility of HRM function, identify possible solution of HR issues and challenges using
theory and recommendations.

HR issues and challenges
Human resource is a division of firm which is stimulating by finding, screening and
recruiting program should be conducted. The biggest issues are faced by HR departments is
selection or hiring, corporate culture with role of HR is more strategic issues and perform various
functions so that they can best at grow and firms success. Marks & Spencer have faced certain
issues and challenges in their businesses which are described below:
Recruitment: It is one of most challenging face in HR department that finding right
people in business are most difficult task to maintain their talent in long term. It is difficult for
owners whether a person will actually a good fit for this job until they have to worked hard and
show a talent for a particular period of time (Found and Tomlinson, 2018). But if finding staff
with proper skills, personality and motivation should be difficult when various candidates are
available. It is a process that it would be handled by internal HR department so that process of
recruiting is managed properly. For Marks & Spencer, firms need to be recruit new talent
because there are various reasons to build up their brand such as project scope and selecting best
candidate are familiar with this environment of business and their culture.

Health and safety: Health and safety is one of most crucial part or challenge in
organization which is collecting all information related to staff members includes health. It is
essential that employee’s health is good and if there health is good it would be help for firm to
knowing what type of tasks or activities are should be participate by workers (Gray, 2019). To
maintain their health information is essential to avoid some risk management and some legal
complications. Many firms provide health insurance for its employees and lacks of proper health
information about workers there are many legal issues are arise. In case of Marks & Spencer,
firm needs to be ensuring that if health of employees is arise in firm then firm maintain to keep a
record of all workers and ensure that firm is meeting legal towards both public and workers.
Management change: Changes in any business enterprise are should be faced by HR or
facing today corporate world. Sometimes this change could be economical, managerial or
technological which have a biggest influence or challenge in HR. HR faces major issues in
decrease employee morale, satisfaction of employees so it would be adapt some changes like
lack of skills, proper communication between people that will be predict their employees.
Communication should be regular basis because each and every workers need to take time and
accept some positive or negative changes in managements. As a firm grows up their strategies,
their processes are grow with it and as time passes some companies have a copied with these
changes in organization. So these are the changes in firm that employee have to be develop and
need to be improve these changes.
Retention of employee: Hiring people is not only major challenges or issues in human
resource department but also one is retaining them (Guffey and Loewy, 2021). Retention of
employee is very necessary for organization because it would minimize turnover rate. Most of
people think that human resources are only for employ new talent or hiring or recruiting but truth
is HR activities are also determine around retaining existing talent also. Workers are support of
firm for providing such skills and experience are required to keep productivity levels up and will
also have to invested time and money for maximizing their productivity. With relation to Marks
& Spencer, HR department needs to be providing each and every employee with right
combination for all three satisfy workers without compromising firm interest in process.
Employee turnover is expensive and they van negatively impact of growth of business.
