Why are businesses becoming so dependent on mobile applications? Provide specific
example to support your answer?
Development in technology increases the dependency of the users on mobile applications, even
for their simple requirements such as purchasing and vending stuffs and makes booking, etc.
Those business organizations which use well-designed mobile applications have more sales in
comparison of those business organizations which does not have any such apps. Following are
the reasons which clarify the dependency of the business on mobile applications:
 Mobile apps help the business organization to offer good user-experience to their
customers, as it becomes easy for the user to browse the products and services offered by
the enterprise. In other words, mobile apps ensure stress free form of business.
 The most important and significant benefit of the mobile apps are branding, as they work
as the good notice. Whenever user swipes the screen of his smartphone he is able to see
the app of enterprise. Therefore, branding of the business is done automatically.
 The another advantage of the applications on mobile is the aptitude of the application to
send the push notifications on the phones of users, as these notifications help the business
in notifying about the new deals, offers, discounts, etc. to the users (Kaur, 2015).
Above stated benefits increase the trends of mobile applications and it also increase the
dependency of the business organizations on the mobile app. This can be understood through
example; in 2014, Dominos noted increase of 19% in their sales because of the mobile
application launched by them (Sheffield, 2015).

Apply porter’s value chain model to Big W. what is Big W’s competitive strategy? Describe
Big W’s business model. Briefly describe the tasks that Big W must accomplish for each
primary value chain activity?
Competitive advantage of the Big W includes it connection with the Woolworths and it also
provides all the stuff to its customer under one roof at reasonable prices. It provides various other
facilities to its customers such as self-serve checkouts, which were introduced in the year 2003
on a trial basis in two of Sydney's major stores.
Business model of Big W includes the introduction of important services in South Australia in
2007, and later these services are introduced in the Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales and
the Australian Capital Territory in selected stores (Woolworths Group, n.d.).
Question 3:
Explain how the internet works. Assume you are talking with someone who has no
knowledge of information technology?
Internet is made from various large networks which are interconnected with each other, and these
networks are known as Network Service Providers or NSPs. Some examples of large NSPs
include UUNet, CerfNet, IBM, BBN Planet, SprintNet, PSINet. It must be noted that these
networks connects with each other for the purpose of exchanging packet traffic. It is necessary
for each NSP to make connection with the three Network Access Points. At the NAP, it is
possible for packet traffic to jump from one NSP's backbone to another NSP's backbone.
Metropolitan Area Exchanges are also interconnected by NSPs.

Internet is a universal system of PCs and each computer which is connected with the internet
must have a different address, and these addresses are in the form of nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn where nnn
must be a number from 0 - 255. This address is referred as IP address in which IP stands for
Internet Protocol.
If any person connect the internet through an Internet Service Provider (ISP), then person get a
temporary IP address for the purpose of dial-in session. In case person connect the computer
from a local area network (LAN) then it is possible that they get permanent IP address or
temporary address from a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol server. No matter what case is,
if computer is connected with the internet then it has a unique IP address (Shuler, 2002).

Explain why master data management is so important in companies that have multiple
data sources?
Master data management helps the organization by removing the redundant and inconsistent
versions of the similar data. Numbers of organizations are there which believes that almost 27%
of their profit is wasted because of the inaccurate master data. Master data includes the
information related to customers, products, and sellers and the relationships between them.
The most important function for MDM is to serve as the authoritative source for master data, and
it is a system which provides clean and consistent master data for the organization. There are
number of companies which struggle while implementing the information systems that provide
support and facilities to the changing requirements of business. Because of this reason it
becomes necessary for business organizations to manage the information related to products,

consumers, etc. Number of company’s estimates that they are analyzing only 12% of their data,
and they are missing out on the data-driven insights inside of 88% of data that they’re ignoring
(Teechtarget, n.d.).
On the other side, organizations have similar system for the purpose of storing and retrieving the
data. However, there are number of systems which help the organization in storing the
information and it also leads to overlapping, redundant and inconsistent data. This can be
understood through example, definitions related to common terms such as supplier’, ‘vendor’
may be different across the systems or different systems use different rules for the purpose of
data validation and cleansing. Such differences make the situation more difficult for business
organizations to achieve consistent, complete and relevant master data (Vincullum, 2016).

Security is an issue which recognized at both the levels technical level and business level. In this
main aim of the organization is to secure the information and make it truly safe and organization
must adopt such process and procedures which ensures information security in the workplace.

stated by Dennis Devlin, chief information security officer at Brandeis University, security is
still largely reactive and not proactive in nature. It must be noted that those organizations which
are more sophisticated will surf the data from the network logs and other monitoring tools into
business-intelligence systems for the purpose of analyzing and prevent breaches of security.

decline of banner ad it becomes more popular among the entrepreneurs. It must be noted that
paid search is the important medium of online advertising for the purpose of driving visitors to
your website depends on the intent of the user (Ganguly, 2015).
Advertising at social media also help the business organizations in finding potential clients by
using the information shared by users related to their interest. Rather than reactively targeting the
users who search any particular term, social media advertisers target the users proactively before
they even start their search. This option is also reliable because of its advanced targeting options,
reliable conversion tracking, and easy access on mobile devices.

the users, and it also target the audience in different and better ways in comparison of other
online platforms. Social media help the business organization not only in targeting the relevant
clients, but it also helps the organization in finding the new potential clients for their products

deeper interest but it also provide targeting methods which are based on behavioral and
connection (Long, 2016).

Discuss the ways in which Wi-Fi is being used to support mobile computing and m-
commerce. Describe the way in which Wi-Fi is affecting the use of mobile phones for m-
commerce?
Wi-Fi is the technical standard which states the maximum wireless local area networks
(WLANs) in today’s world. It is very easy to connect the mobile devices with the internet
because of the availability of public access points known as hotspots. There are number of
advantages of Wi-Fi, and these advantages include the low cost and the ability of the Wi-Fi to
provide the simple internet access. It is considered as great facility of the wireless internet, which
means it has ability to connect the internet wirelessly.
Mobile computing and applications related to m-commerce can be easily operated in the present
environment because of the adequate speed of the communication. Wi-Fi is based on the cellular
technology and it reduces the requirement of the wireless wide area networks (WWANs).

In other words, Wi-Fi stands for high speed wireless internet access, and this network is
broadcast in particular area. These particular areas are known as hotspots, and user can give
access to these hotspots through username and passwords. However, users have to pay for this
service and generally paid in particular time intervals. There are number of cities which have city
wide Wi-Fi and allowed their citizens free internet access.
The major drawback of Wi-Fi is that during the period of high access among the users of mobile
phones, access becomes slow for some users and in some cases overcrowding does not allowed
the users to being on the network (Wiley, n.d.).

Human resource management is considered as most important function of the organization
because it directly affects all other operations and processes of the organization. Important
function of HRM includes the recruitment, maintenance and development, and planning and
management (Ball, 2001).
Recruitment involves the search of potential and adequate employee, evaluation of candidates,
and hire proper person. Organizations are trying to search the appropriate candidates on the web,
especially with the help of search engines. Companies also used the web for the purpose of
advertising the jobs on the web and for recruiting the candidates by suing the online platforms.
Additionally, companies get the benefit of cost because cost related to online recruitment is
comparatively less than the cost related to traditional recruiting.

Customer relationship management is the important area of the organization and it is the system

its goal in effective manner. In other words, it is the system which attracts and retails the
profitable customers for the organization while providing the best services to the existing
customers of the organization for the purpose of increasing the sales of the organization.
Numbers of ways are present to integrate with the consumers, and CRM is one of these ways
which manage the data and information related to the consumer and shares that information in
the relevant departments.
CRM helps the organization by integrating and automated the customer-facing processes in
context of sales, marketing, and services provided to consumers. It also provides the enterprise-
wide view related to customers. This knowledge is used by the companies at the time of
interacting with the consumers for the purpose of providing them better services and for the
purpose of selling new products and services to the consumers. These systems also provide
information related to profitable and non-profitable consumers, and it also helps the organization

Why is planning so important in supply chain management?
Supply chain management is considered as significant aspect of business cycle. It is the approach
of active management related to supply chain activities which is used for the purpose of
maximizing the value in context of customer and also for achieving the sustainable competitive
advantage (Exforsys, 2010).
As stated by experts of SCM, this activity is also defined as the scheme, development,
implementation, regulator, and monitoring of supply chain activities which is conducted for the
purpose of creating net value, create an infrastructure which is competitive in nature, etc.. Some
other areas are also related with the SCM and these areas include the operations, logistics,
procurement, and information technology.
Number of times SCM is divided into the different stages and these stages includes planning,
execution and shipping. Planning and execution are considered as important stages of supply
chain management as both the stages includes various functions such as supply chain modeling,
and design, distribution and supply network planning. Planning play very important role in
