INTRODUCTION
Career research is one of the crucial aspect that every person go through in their life in order
to gain idea about the opportunities they have and to take better decision about their future. It is
important for a person to opt for career research is that they can gain best opportunity as per their
field and experience. Most of the time, career research is commonly conducted when a person
completed its graduation and post-graduation. They start searching job opportunities they have
for future in order to avail a successful career. I am recently completed my post-graduation as an
MBA in marketing field and like to pursue working in the same field. As per my knowledge
level and with the assistance of my tutors, It is observed by me that retail industry is one of the
growing and developing sector in recent times and also offer number of opportunities to fresher
especially the one who belongs from marketing area. By the assistance of primary as well as
secondary research, I found position of marketing manager on a retail outlet.
ANALYSIS and APPLICATIONS
The selected sector is retail, an industry that bridges gap among producers and customers
through engaging in buying and selling of goods as well as services. This sector is one of the
fastest and growing sector and herein trends is changing as per the market trends ans customer
requirements. It is analysed that retail sector contributes a major part on the development of
economy as it offer customer satisfaction, follow market trends and follow all the financial
structure as well (Bakker, 2018). Thus, for fresher retail industry & working in market area is
appropriate and suitable sector that directly contributes towards the improvement of
employability skills and attainment of objectives as well. For more evaluation, a potential career
option & internship within marketing field is undertaken and for this primary and secondary
research is going to conduct and is showcased below:
Secondary research
It is consider as an effective approach that assist in gaining relevant and reliable
information on the particular topic. In addition to this, secondary data is easy to gather as it is
already provided on sources that is Journal papers, articles, books, magazines and so on. In
addition to this, it is analysed that collecting secondary information is easy and consume less
time of researcher that has positive influence on the results gained.

General trends that may have impact over chosen profession
The chosen profession is to become a marketing profession that is starting with doing an
internship in a renowned organisation that perform various actions and making use of marketing
techniques and tools for enhancing brand. It is analysed that in the role of marketing there are
various roles & responsibilities that is required to be perform such as conducting market research
to know market trends and customer requirements, create promotional strategies and plans, know
about competitors and so on (Jiang, 2019). Their main motive is to offer quality to customer with
a view to develop positive brand image and earn higher profits. Retail industry is dynamic as
well as developing that leads towards continuous improvement in performance and practices as
well. The recent trends within the retail industry is given below: Technological Advancement: It is undertaken as one of the important trends within the
retail industry that impact directly on the overall operations and performance as well. Due
to innovation in technology, retail sector is able to provide the option of online shopping
and home delivery . In addition to this, new and advanced technology also assist such
sector to promote their product and reach large number of customer that impact positively
on market performance and profitability of retail organisations.
Globalisation- Another general trend and the reason of changing in trends of retail
industry is globalisation. Many organisations now have the idea about development and
changes which take place globally that is impacting on the trends of retail industry &
marketing requirements as well (Vondracek, Lerner and Schulenberg, 2019). This assist
companies to make the changes by analysing market trends and offer trendy to customer
that has a positive influence on productivity as well as profitability of an organisation. In
addition to this, globalisation also assist in expanding business operations in a proper way
and strengthen market performance as well.
Skills / knowledge and experience required
SKILLS: Good communication skill: It is one of the essential skill that is required in order to
convey information or message to other person in a proper as well as understandable
manner. In addition to this, effective communication skill also assist an individual to
develop relationship with people in an effective way. So it is important for a marketing
person to have good communication and interaction skills as well.
