1.1. To develop a 3-year career plan with supporting statement to justify the career path
taken which demonstrates research into the industry sector.
I started my career with amaster degree in the year of 2018 – 2019. During my master
degree,I learned the basic knowledgeregarding the travel and tourism industry (Chow, Lai and
Loi 2015). I started to acquire knowledge from various academic sources to be potential enough.
I also undertook various projects work as a part of my college academic work which helped me
to groom myself further (Hertzman et al., 2015).
Later on, around the year of 2019, I worked as an entry-level agent with the intention to
acquire some knowledge regarding the working of the hospitality industry, I gathered knowledge
as of how the booking activity takes place and what are the varying customer's demands
(Deming 2018). Moving from there I carried on with Team Leader role in the year 2020; it was
one of my vital phase where I learned a lot about the management traits and the burden of
responsibilities that stays in the hand of the hospitality industry.
Evaluation plan:
1- Choose a carrier path and implement it
Among the various alternatives available, my first strategic plan was to go for travel and
tourism degree, so that I can have a better awareness regarding the corporate norms and
corporate culture (Mason 2015). I was very potential in terms of geographical knowledge and the
cultural differences that exist in our society. I found that much of the skill in terms of practical
field knowledge lack within myself for which I choose to head forward with this degree.
The very sole reason for choosing this path because of the skills that I would possess in
terms of the employee relationship maintenance, inventory management, Guest services,

Catering, Event management and problem solver (Bustamam, Teng and Abdullah 2014). Beside
my upselling technique skill was very much proficient. I was also inherited with leadership
qualities which helped me to undertake decisions accordingly.
2- Completion of my degree
After successful completion of my college degree, I was having adequate knowledge of
the geographical skills and the working style. I am also able to link different market scenarios
with practical life experience and situation. Slowly, I got a feeling that now that I am able to
understand the tourism industry working (Michopoulou et al. 2015). However, I realized that
book knowledge is not sufficient to make myself place in the dream designation for which I
started to plan for indulging myself within the boundaries of a corporate office to gain further
experience.
3- Undertaking job for increasing experience level
I understood that being a part of the corporation is not an easy task for me. For which I
undertook measure to be a part of the internship programme. I thought that working within an
internship programme will yield me the feel of work pressure and would give me a better
exposure towards the market environment (Mowforth and Munt 2015). As the day passed by I
groomed myself and learned a lot of things.
At last, I was satisfied that I was able to co-operate with my plans and carry out with it
accordingly. Later, I started to build confidence among myself and thought it is now time to
move on and contribute towards my goal. Moreover, the internship programme which I carried
on was a part of my college pre-placement programme; it helped me to gain a bunch of practical
knowledge of the work field (Yassine, Kadry and Sicilia 2016).

2.1. A job description and personal specification of a role for which you would like to apply
for as your placement/or full-time role.
Personal specification- Speaking about the qualification, I graduated in the field of travel and
tourism degree and later continued my higher education with the hope of meeting my future
target of being a qualitative agent of a reputed company. For this, I perused various training
degree from various training centres.
Beside this academic degree, I kept myself indulged in the various trekking events and
organisation of events and tours which used to take place in various geographical area. I also
kept myself indulged with the day to day corporate news and the CSR practices of such
corporates (Head and Alford 2015). I also tried to furnish myself with the decision making
ability for which I put myself in the complicated situation and tried to overcome from such
situation; this undertaking was carried upon by me to get deep into the decision making ability
criteria (Rok and Mulej 2014).
Being a management professional, I also gave much of the time into the management
field to have an overview concept of the working of the management practices and the threats
that are associated with the management field (Çelik, Dedeoğlu and Inanir 2015). This was an
extracurricular activity which I undertook in order to make sure that the future professional days
would not be hampered because of the lack of knowledge. I do not want to arrive at a situation of
an excuse. I also took training from an external training centre that teaches the recent trend of
management issues and the factors that introduce such conflicts within the organisation (Smith
2014). The training programme took fora time period of 6months. I carried on all these activities
with the objective of becoming a qualitative tourism agent.

4.1. A SMART reflection on five employability skills that you have identified as areas
needing to be developed.
In the views of Johnson, Moore and Thornton (2014), the SMART goal theory helps in
strategically setting the goals for any management related task. The following skills for
employability have been prepared following the SMART goal theory.
Five employability required skills:
Decision making, Planning, Focus, Reasoning and Thinking, and Public relation
S-Taking into consideration the career objective, I figured out the skills that lacks within me. The
entire evaluation of skill sets required was undertaken in order to understand the need for
improvement. The specific measurement of skills that lacks within are Decision making,
Planning, Focus, Reasoning and Thinking, and Public relation.
M-Measurable, in order to measure the goals effectiveness I planned to undertake a designation
which comprises of this key skills in order to fulfil the key skill gaps. I stepped forward with the
aim of achieving this skills.
A- Achievable, I undertook steps such as working as a team leader in the year 2020. I use to
communicate with my assigned team and with that of the clients in order to understand the
improvements that has taken place within me.
R- Relevant, I started to evaluate the relevancy of the above mentioned skills gaps. I made use of
the Pareto rule 80/20 in order to evaluate the 20 percent of the efforts that would yield me
80percent of the efforts.Later, I started to compare the relevancy with each other alternatives to

analyse the relevancy (Shepherd et al., 2017). I began to measure the relevancy with questions as
of “Is it the right time? Does this even seem worthwhile?
T-Time-bound, setting a specific time frame for a particular act is one of the management
objectives. Then I started to evaluate in comparison to time that whether this quality will be
achievable by me or I require any specific third-party training to be more productive. A
measurement like what can I do within the time frame of another six months? I started to develop
such questions to evaluate the circumstances.
4.2. An explanation of how these fit with your chosen job role (as identified above).
The above quality goals are one of the qualitative features of the travel and tourism body.
A professional travel agent should understand the essence of such qualities. Decision making is
required as such that being a travel agent I will need to undertake a number of business
decisions,and other subordinates activity will entirely depend upon me (Morpeth and Yan 2015).
Planning skills as it is the sole responsibility of a travel agent to formulate a plan and lead the
subordinates accordingly. Planning is the key to business activities. Focus refers to the
concentration that stays within very few hands (Decker et al., 2014). Concentration will enhance
me to undertake the daily basis activity and chain of responsibilities smoothly.
The reasoning is required for critical analysis of the business environment and to depict out the
best possible solution among the various alternatives available.
Public relation is the primary aspect of any business undertaking; it is the public relation that
formulates future business for the business firm.

5.1. Evidence of University Work – example of case studies, or individual and group

1- Case study analysis
During collegegraduation, we were givensome case study to go through and act accordingly. We
were given a situation and was told that what we could do if we were in that position this gave us
a better chance to develop the analytical skills (Helyer and Lee 2014). The case study was
carried along with the other students we were given a situation and were provided with a glimpse
of the problem that the customersare facing then we were assigned with the different role
according to the case study and was told to react what could be done to arrive at a best possible
solution.
We were then toldon a regular basisto thinkin a critical mannerto understand the complexity of
problems that take place within a differentgeographical area (Wang and Tsai 2014). After the
above mentioned activities and events we were asked questions about what learning outcomes do
we seek. What are the things that we have been able to deal with and the areas in which we think
we have improved?
2- Joint project submission on Decision making, Planning, Focus, Reasoning and Thinking,
and Public relation
We were about to submit a project work which was divided according to group basis. I and the
other two members of my group together we have contributed towards this project work. We
were told to visit nearby any of the three different travel agencies and analyse what are the
business activities that they undertake, what are the marketing strategies, what makes the firm to
carry out the business operations smoothly, what is the role of travel agent and what are the key

skills that makes an individual a travel agent. These were a couple of questions on which we
were about to prepare the project work (LEIM043).
After the above mentioned activities and events we were asked questions about what learning
outcome do we seek (Robinson, Ruhanen and Breakey 2016). What are the things that we have
been able to deal with and the areas in which we think we have improved? At some point intime,
I fund that much of skills has been improved a lot.
Job description:
The name of the company for which I was applying for a job is Accor Hotels. It is a privately
owned Uk based company that franchises, manages and owns hotels, resorts, vacation properties
(www.accorhotels.com, 2019).

I am applying for the position of a Travel desk job, for which they will keep me on the training
period for a time span of about 1month after which I will be working independently and will be
solely responsible for the business hospitality services related decisions.
I will be required to assist the staffs and coordinate them in accordance with their assigned
duties. I need to monitor the activities of the junior level staff, workers and make a daily report
and provide it to the senior assistant manager.
6.1. Evidence of Internship or Volunteer Work – Real life examples from casual work you
have done while studying.
I worked in the Aloft Hotel by Marriott as an Industrial Trainee. While working, I got to
explore a variety of fieldwork experiences. Apart from that, I got to address the difficulties that

arise due to frequent changes in consumer preferences. How to tackle with that of a distress
situation and the flow of authority that exists within the hospitality industry.
Some of the key activities are as follows:
 Making the message available to the client left for them for business or commercial purpose.
The messagewas mostly from the family, relatives and that of business nature.
 I was about to escort the guest to their respective assigned rooms and asks for any other
needs if they seek any from the business firm.
 Taking care of the client’s luggage as soon as they reach the gate of the hotel.
 Making sure that the payments and accounts payable sections are cleared from the client side
before they leave the hotel.
 Greet the clients whenever they arrive with a charming and pleasant smile.
 Sound knowledge of the hospitality norms such as packaging method and hygienic factors.
 Making the delivery of foods, time to time at the doorstep of the clients. There is a formal
sequence that is required to be strictly followed while making the food delivered to the
clients.
 In charge of building keys, master keys and access cards.
 Keep the hotel rooms well maintained in terms of the bed sheet and other clothing materials.
 To clean the room and to have a periodic polish for all metal hardware fixtures.
 Having a concern towards the maintenance of the storage areas and carts.
 The interior environment in terms of the arrangement of the chair, desk and tables to be kept
in an organized manner.

Reason to choose this career option:
According to the authors Dredge and Jamal (2015), hospitality sector is at a growing
phase and has a huge potential to grow even more within the near future. As such that much of
the tourists visit place irrespective of the cultural differences and lack of communication
understanding (Diamond, Horn and Uttal 2016). Taking into consideration the UK market, in
2015 hotel enterprises generated a total revenue of about 17.4 billion British pounds,
contributing the most value to the UK economy as compared to other accommodation
services(Statista, 2019). However, it is an estimation made by the government that much more

tourists are going to be attracted towards the economy, which will in turn create more earning
prospects and job opportunities.
