Background
CSR is the commitment of the business organizations that helps in improving the quality
of life and serving best to society. In the modern business world most of the firms are
implementing CSR activities to survive in the corporate world for longer duration (Alvarado-
Herrera and et.al, 2015). Corporate social responsibility is concern with the adoption of
sustainable practices in the operations of entities. It includes ethical responsibility, environment
consideration, philanthropy etc. Now companies are hiring CSR managers and consultants those
who have knowledge about the function and those who can make effective policies so that
enterprises can gain competitive advantage and can build trust of its stakeholders. The main
objective of implementing CSR activities in the organizations are to enhance loyalty of
customers and other users so that they keep associated with the brand (Young and Thyil, 2014).
Present report is based on the case study of The Charlotte hotel which is working in the
hospitality industry and aiming to develop its unique image in the hospitality industry. Current
assignment will discuss the project management plan, aim and objective of the study. It will
produce a work breakdown structure and Gantt chart (Attig and et.al, 2013). Data will be
collected by the managers of the cited firm and information will be gathered through
questionnaire. Data will be analyzed in this study in order to identify impact of CSR on
sustainability objective. Report will give description about tools and techniques of research
methodology. Appropriate recommendation will be given to draw a meaningful conclusion. In
last, reflective report will be prepared to discuss about own learning and performance
(Mackenzie and Peters, 2014).

Cost: Project manager has to invest amount for various activities such as data collection, labour
etc. That can create problem in completion of project within estimated time period. It is essential
for the manager to make planning in cost effective manner.
Timescale: Project manager has to set time for each activity so that implementation of CSR can
be done within stipulated time period. Data collection, data analysis are both time consuming
activities thus, manger has to make plan properly.
Team work: Project manager has to allocate responsibility to each person propely as per their
capabilities and abilities. Team working can support in completing the project on time and
meeting with its objectives. By this way manager will be able to implement CSR in the
workplace effectively.
Risk: technical risk, lack of financial resources, Poor skills of employees are several risk
associated with the current project. Therefore, planning needs to be done effectively and project
manager has to make contingency plan as well so that real objective of Charlotte hotel by
implementing CSR can be achieved.

faced by the scholar that data was available but there was problem in using it. Individual had to

manager's scholar can gathered relevant information easily and can prepare the good report in the

Research design:
A research design is utilized to structure the research, to indicate that all the major
elements of the research have been designed to work together. Study and finding can be affected
by research design techniques (Wildemuth, 2016).
Research design must contain
(i)Clear statement of the problem

(i) Correct process and methods to collecting data and how to utilized it in proper manner
(iii) The opulation to be researched
(iv) Techniques to be employed in processing and examining data.
Research design is what makes the entire research project work – without it, you’ve just got a lot
of material but absolutely no way of using it correctly or putting it together.
The key features of a research design are:
(i) It is a plan which describes the sources and kinds of information strongly related to the
research problem.
(ii) It is a strategy indicating which method will be employed for collecting and examining the
data.
(iii) It also consists of the time and cost budgets because most studies are done under these two
limitations.
Research philosophy:
Research philosophy is defined as "the development of knowledge and the nature of
knowledge". Research philosophy helps the researcher to be more creative and exploratory in
their method of research (VanPatten. and Williams, 2014). There are different types of research
philosophies that are interpretvitism, realism and positivism. The interpretvitism research is
based on various beliefs and values which provides the justification of carrying out whole
research . While positivism research is based on highly structured method, then investigation can
be find out with the help of statistical technique. Further, for collecting a qualitative data
researcher used interpretvitism method. For determining the importance of corporate social
responsibility for Charlotte hotel researches used this method.
Research approach:
Research approaches are mainly based on the research philosophies, whereby the deductive
approach is commonly used by researchers with traditional natural scientific views, while
inductive approach is usually based on phenomenology . Sometimes these research paradigms or
approaches are used together in research to explain better an occurrence or phenomena .
Furthermore, a deductive approach is an extremely influential and intellectual approach, in which
conceptual and theoretical framework is developed and tested using empirical observation . An

inductive research on the other hand is an approach whereby, the theory is developed from
observing an empirical reality, which is typically oppose the deductive method . In the present
study Charlotte street hotel is focusing on implementing a CSR for this it need to deep
understand it with the help of this techniques (Wildemuth, 2016).
Data collection:
Collecting data means putting design for collecting information into operation. We have
decided how we are going to get information , whether by direct observation, interviews,
surveys, experiments and testing, or other methods and now we observers have to implement
our plan. There is a bit more to collecting data, however. If we are conducting observations, for
example, we will have to define what we are observing and arrange to make observations at the
right times, so we actually observe what we need to. We will have to record the observations in
appropriate ways and organize them so they are optimally useful. Through this researcher can
find the view of manager related to implementation of CSR at Charlotte street hotel.
Data analysis:
. Analyzing information involves examining it in ways that reveal the relationships, patterns,
trends, etc. that can be found within it. That may mean subjecting it to statistical operations that
can tell we not only what kinds of relationships seem to exist among variables, but also to what
level we can trust the answers we are getting (Blumberg, Cooper. and Schindler, 2014). It may
mean comparing our information to that from other groups (a control or comparison group,
statewide figures, etc.), to help draw some conclusions from the data. The point, in terms of our
evaluation, is to get an accurate assessment in order to better understand our work and its effects
on those we are concerned with, or in order to better understand the overall situation . For
identifying the importance of implementation of CSR at Charlotte street hotel is using this
technique.
Research limitations:
following limitations were expected and faced during the research study:
 Availability of secondary data from sales records of the companies were difficult.
 Salesmen, customers, dealers and retailers were reluctant or hesitant to share data.

 Management may not like to share their views on the topic (Vaioleti, 2016).
 Time, cost and location factors become major difficulties in completion of research.
 Sample size may not be exact representative of the universe. There is possibility of some
error to a limited extent.
Apart from this research was not having sufficient funds to carry out the research
properly. It was creating problem for the researcher.
Ethical consideration:
It is another part of research methodology . In the study researcher has considered the
ethical points and all investigation is done within the limits. Scholar has not forced any
respondents to give their views. Scholar has followed all regulations and data is not being copied
by the investigator from any sites, individual has written information in its own words.
P6 Recommendations for the improvements
Corporate social responsibility is the essential element and can help the organizations in
accomplish their objectives soon (Brinkmann, 2014). There are some problems faced by the
entities to implement it within workplace. But by following several strategies they can easily
implement in the organization . CSR is the tool that can help in gaining competitive advantage
and by this way forms are able to make people loyal towards the firm. Apart from this from the
data analyses it is found that it assists in enhancing satisfaction of consumers and staff members
to great extent. There are several ways or suggestions that can help in improving implementation
of CSR activities within organization and meeting with the objectives:
 Company should share all relevant information with the stakeholder, involvement of
those can supports in implementing CSR activities in the workplace effectively.
 Corporation should focus on making the workplace safe and secure. there should not be
any unsafe thing in the workplace that can demoralize people and can harm their
efficiency level. Cited firm should train them for using renewable energy so that they can
produce quality products for the well fare of society (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault, 2015).

 The Charlotte hotel is working at small scale, it should hire CSR manager in the
organization. By this way individual will be able to make effective policy that can
supports in improving process of the company. That would help in satisfying needs of
users and making them loyal towards the brand. It would help in achieving objective of
increasing sustanibility of the cited firm.

 Collecting and analyzing qualitative data – interviews, descriptions of environmental
factors, or events, and circumstances can provide insight into how participants experience
the issue we are addressing, what barriers and advantages they experience, and what we
might change or add to improve what we do.
 Once we have gained the knowledge that our information provides, it is time to start the
process again. Use what we have learned to continue to evaluate what we do by
collecting and analyzing data, and continually improve our program (Moharana, 2013).
 It is necessary for The Charleott hotel that to pay more attention to produce eco-friendly
products and services. It should operate in such manner so that it can protect the
surroundings.
 Company should focuses on utilization of resources well. It should minimize the wastage
and should recycle the materials. By this way it will be able to sustain in the corporate

market for longer duration. The Charleott hotel needs to utilize raw material effectively
and wastage must be reused.
 It should train its staff members in such manner so that they can understand benefits of
CSR and can support management in implementing CSR activities in the workplace.
P7 Reflective report
From the research on the implementation of CSR activities was the great study for me, I
have learned many thinks with this report. I gained knowledge about meaning of corporate social
responsibilities and how it can impact on the business operation too. I was not having good
communication skill, I feel under confident when I had to deal or coordinate with others for
commercial purpose. But while conducting this research I improved my communication skill. I
interacted with manager of the the Charleott hotel well and they have given good response to me.
I learned that implementing CSR activities in the organization is worthwhile and it supports in
meeting objective of the company effectively. I helps in increasing brand name of the entity,
with the help of this firms can gain competitive advantage too. I developed analytical and
problem solving skills in me. Earlier I got confusion whenever any critical situation occurs but
this research has helped me in enhancing my problem solving skills. Now I look the critical
condition as challenge and face it with confidence. That supports me in resolving problems
easily. I have improved my analytical skills. Now I understand the situation and analyses the
situation and accordingly I take step on it. Due to lack of funds I faced many problems but I
never lose hope and continue to work on the study. I develop my understanding about
implementing CSR activities and its positive and negative impact on the business units. I was not
having any practice knowledge about hospitality industry but for the purpose of research I had to
communicate with the managers of The Charleott hotel frequently, they told about this sector but
this way I developed my knowledge about this industry. I realized that women safety is the major
problems and for that it is necessary to take support of CSR activities. This will enhance moral of
staff members and they will contribute well to audience. Y this way company can be able to
sustain in the corporate market for longer duration.
