INTRODUCTION Human resource management manage the entire activities of employees and other staff members of organization effectively. It gives support to operate each business functions by give training to workers that improve their skills and knowledge level more than now (Gupta and Shaw, 2014). The present report is based on TESCO that is one of the best retailer company in UK. In this report will explain purpose of HRM in company and discuss their functions as well as practices that give benefits to firm. Moreover, it will justify various approaches of selection and recruitment and provide detail regarding the HRM practices that is beneficial for TESCO in term of profitability. TASK 1 1. Purpose of HRM in TESCO Human resource management defined as the procedure of managing workers in company for example, TESCO. HRM is responsible for hiring and recruiting, training and development, and motivating all the staff members. It is one of the best way in which firm hires new worker and trains those new employees. It was a strategic approach to effective management of people in company, so that they support business achieve competitive advantages. The main purpose of this department is to maximize workers work performance in service of employer strategic objectives and aim is to reduce employees turn over. TESCO provide their best quality products and services to customers through the help of effective team. Skilled and knowledge workers build effective team which has been hired or selected by HRM. They are encompasses many activities and functions within company with ultimate role and responsibilities for management of benefits, staffing and worker relations and training (Gajewska, Piskrzyńska and Rakštys, 2017). The purpose of human resource management is to coordinate all the staff members in organization to gain company's objectives and goals. 2. Functions of Human resource management in company TESCO run their business smoothly and expand it in the world with help of effective team members who support them in whole process of producing good products and services for customers. HRM hire each individual and build team which have all the essential skills and knowledge that are required for company growth and success. List about Human resource management- HRM recruit, hire, evaluate, organize and manage the workers' performance. 1
It gives their contribution on policy formation. Workforce planning and employment. Provide compensation and benefits to employees. Make effective business plan and strategies for its growth and success. Functions of HRM in TESCO- 1.Selection and recruitment:Human resource department find out the right candidates for needed vacancies in organization. It places job advertisements, interviews and screens applicants, checks their background and recommends and selects employees for positions in TESCO. 2.Employee benefits:HRM make effective plans for employee benefits because it helps to attract and retain quality employees. They offer many benefits to workers include health, disability, accident, fringe benefit etc. 3.Development and training:Human resource management plan on job and off job training session for staff that develop their skills and knowledge more than now. 3. Explain 2 functions of HRM in detail 1.Recruitment and selection:In TESCO this department carefully observes nature of openpositionandselectthemostknowledgeableandqualifiedcandidatesin organization. After the process of hiring they provide new hire orientation which involves givingworkerspaperworktocompletesuchasorganizationbenefitspurposes. Recruitment is one of the most important process of HRM in which they are screening andchoosingpotentialskilledpeoplebasedonparticularvacancies(Opathaand Arulrajah, 2014). It is very essential procedure to company that are handled by Human resource management. 2.Development and training:Training and development are indispensable functions of HRM. It attempts to develop and improve present and future work performance of employees by maximizing ability of all the workers through increasing and educating one knowledgeorskillsinparticularobject.Theyprovideseminarsandworkshops, leadership training to improve leaders, manager and employee relationships to foster employee development.
