Challenges Faced by Educational Organizations and Recommendations for Overcoming Them

This report discusses the challenges faced by educational organizations, including underperformance, digital poverty, and lack of diversity. It also provides recommendations for overcoming these challenges and creating a positive learning environment. The report focuses on Willson's elementary school and discusses the consequences and impacts of good diversity management, disadvantages to students coming from low-income families in relation to digital poverty, and evident inconsistencies in delivering classes. The report provides recommendations such as conducting seminars, celebrating small days, and teaching social and ethical values to overcome these challenges.

INTRODUCTION
Education is one of the most common but important term in the world, this simply means
learning and development of learner. Education might face certain types of challenges including
underperformance, educational organization face critical issue like demographic factors keeping
classroom underperformance, income level of learner keeping effectiveness underperformance
and classes including less diversity. When educational organization remain underperformance
then they might face certain type of issue including high learner turnover where they leave
school for better area of development. Educational organization need to find better solution for
the issue of underperformance including certain factor, these solutions will maintain cultural
diversity in the classroom. This study is based on Willson’s elementary school; this is one of the
most famous school but facing issue of underperformance. This report will discuss certain area
of educational underperformance criteria including demographic factors like age, gender
ethnicity, educational organization face these issue in their process. Later this report will discuss
other factor of underperformance including low income level of learner where individual cannot
able to purchase digital content for education impact digital poverty. Later this report has
discussed significant inconsistencies impacting classroom and extent teacher requirement in
understanding pedagogy and student motivation.
MAIN BODY
School focus related to diversity, including consequences and impacts of good diversity
management
Wilson's school was founded in 1615, in Camberwell. It is one of the oldest school of
London which was founded as a grammar school. With the passage of time, there has come a
huge difference in the schools today on being compared to the schools and the entire eduction
system, years ago. Previously, the schools and the entire education system was segregated related
to the race, gender and many other issues. These discrepancies were observed back then and with
time, a law was made in 1954 against the segregation. With the introduction of this law the
schools, the colleges and entire system of education adopted diversity. But with diversity some
issues also came along with the benefits, that started to cause troubles in some or the other way.
Here at Wilson's school, the same was observed. Diversity involves students related to different

backgrounds be it according to the race, religion, language, economic background, ethnicity or
gender.
The school adopted diversity, in order to create an environment in the place, where
students thrive collectively and realize that, it is the individual characteristics which makes them
unique and that they are not “different” from each other in any negative aspect (García-Cano
Torrico and et.al., 2018). The reason behind the adoption of diversity is that the school wants to
develop the minds of the students in a way that they can develop a mature perspective towards
life and learn how to be creative and respectful while learning in the diversity. Diversity in a
place provides new experience, new ideas and give an opportunity to the people to actually learn
from one another (Gomez and Bernet, 2019). Here in the school major problems started to arise,
as the students belonging from different background were studying in the same environment.
These problems were also making the students to underperform as they were not able to fully
concentrate because of the personal things they have to go through in their lives. Issues such as
age, sex and economic background were most picked up issues that were causing these problems.
Here are some consequences of diversity in the school:

The positive consequences are holding good for the school's education system as the
students are interacting with other people of different background and this is also helping them in
developing a good mindset and transforming their beliefs in context to the other background
people. But, where on one hand all these things are building a whole new and different
perspectives of the individuals learning there, on the other hand some students are also going in a
backward direction on the line of progress (Rowan and et.al., 2021). The students are not able to
keep up the pace between the bullying and discriminations that are done towards them by the
other students and sometimes also by the teachers in the schools. Here are some common
problems that keep coming again and again:

 The students who belong to the lower religions are not treated equally in the
school and are always pulled back by other students or teachers in their following
classes.
 The female and the LGBTQ gender is always looked over by their batch mates or
are not able to participate in various activities due to the poor mentality of people.
They are usually being harassed by other students (Martínez, Molina-López and
de Cabo, 2021).
 Discriminations are done towards the students that come from a weak economic
background and not welcomed by many of their classmates.
This has created a major tension in the school's environment and as a result many
students are underperforming in their studies. With these issues, the willingness to come to the
school is over and students are not willing to attend the school on the regular basis (Assari,
2018). Some students who are forced by the parents and who are coming to the school are also
not able to concentrate in the classes because of social tension in the environment that is created.
Disadvantages to the students coming from low-income families in relation to the digital poverty
With the evolution of time, there is also a huge evolution in the pattern of doing things.
Every other thing in today's world has become advanced as the use of technologies has clearly
made its way to the daily lives of the people. The way of doing business has changed, the way of
teaching students has changed and many other ways of doing other things have also transformed.
Now the things are done more efficiently and effectively with the help of digital technologies
(Scherer, Siddiq and Tondeur, 2019). With the concern of updating the self to the new
technologies, many schools have also adopted digital technologies in their schools. With the help
of these technologies, a much better learning is provided to the students. There are many schools
who have also started a new smart class feature in their schools which is a great help to the
students, when it comes to understanding the concepts (Dreamson, 2019). With digital
technologies and all the animations, the students are more effectively able to grab the knowledge
provided in the classes. All these advancements are taking the education system to a whole new
and different level. The schools have adopted the use of various creative spaces, projectors,
smart boards and smart tablets. Here in willson's school, the school is engaged in teaching
students through the smart tablets and smart board. As a result, not every student is able to afford

these technologies. Some students come from really weak economic background and are not able
to cope up with the advancements that are adopted by the school. This leads to a clear
discrimination that is done in the school towards these students. They are treated completely
different. Though they are asked to attend the smart classes in the schools but due to the lack of
person smart tablets they are not able to perform equally in the school like the way other students
are performing. Here are some problems faced by the students related to the digital poverty:
 No equal opportunities
 Lack of engagement
 Sense of inferiority
 No personalized learning
This gap divides the entire school in two parts, where some students are not at all able to
participate because of the lack of resources with them, the other students are highly involved in
such technologies and also kind of overpower them. With all these problems in the schools, the
students do not feel a sense of belonging and eventually start to socialize less and less with the
other batch mates. There are various assignments and various home works that are given to
students and which can be done only with the help of internet and basic technologies, these are
the points where the students that come form low-income families are not able to cope up with
the school's tasks. This issue also becomes an ethical and social value issue. A sense of social
value and ethics provides the students to help the other students who come from weak economic
background. But in Willson's this is also turning out to be a huge problem as the students do not
believe in the social values and lack in such areas.
Recommendations on overcoming the issues and implementing a new diversity in the school
Though there are various problems that are faced by the school because of lack of
understanding amongst the students, there are also some recommendations which can be
considered by the school in order to avoid such issues in school's environment. Here are some
recommendations mentioned below :
Conduct seminars- The school should organize seminars to inculcate a sense of equality in the
students and teach them how to treat other with respect while living or learning in diversity
(Almqvist, 2019). With short stories that have good morale in the last, students can be taught a
valuable lesson on how to value every individual, be it from an upper religion or lower religion.

Activities- The school should come with different planned activities that promote equality and
says a clear no to all the bullying and all the discriminations that take place in the school's
environment. For example; the skits, where the students perform and promote a good
understanding of how to respect other students and live in diversity.
Assembly topics- As there are morning assemblies held in school and different topics are picked
up on every day basis. The school can ask the classes to pick topic related to the issues that arises
on living in diversity and so the speeches and thoughts can be provided in the assembly to create
positivity in schools.
Celebration of small days- Small days such as the labour day can be celebrated in schools
which will help the students in building a sense of equality that no caste is upper or lower, it is
simply the work that is done by the people for living, and how every people should be respected
for what they do (Schachner, 2019). This will make them understand not to bully their batch
mates who come from economic weaker section of the society.
Teaching social and ethical values- Social and ethical value lessons should be taught to the
students in classes as that will help the students even in their future. By inculcating social value
in the students they will become aware of what to do and what not to do in the school's
environment. This will also make the students to develop empathy towards other students in the
school and will make them help the students who can not afford the digital technologies in the
school.
These were some recommendations that the school can consider and overcome the
regular problems and make the environment of the school good. Similar to these initiatives, the
school can also implement new diversity in its education system. This will make the environment
of the school positive. Here is the way in which the school can do the following:
 Understand the students- The school should first concentrate on understanding each
and every student that comes to the school and act accordingly to avoid any misconduct
with them. This will make the students feel a sense of belonging.
 Keep a Consistent communication- No student should feel being ignored or taken
lightly in the school. There should be consistent communication between the teachers and
the students themselves. This will provide each student of being valued in the school.
 Respect and acknowledge students- The school should concentrate on providing
lessons to the students of how to respect one another while learning in diversity. The

respect and acknowledgement boost the students morale and make them perform their
best in the school.
 Exercise cultural sensitivity- Various activities and days can be celebrated in the school
to induce the sense of cultural sensitivity in the students (Glock, Kleen and Morgenroth,
2019). Here under this, the school should also make the students participate in the
activities which will make the students aware of different cultures and different cultural
activities.
 Integrated diversity in lesson plan- By teaching different lessons' on diversity, the
school can manage and teach the students how to respect every other student who belongs
to different caste, different age, different sex and different gender in the school.
 Give flexibility and freedom to the students- Every student in the school should be
treated equally and every student should be given freedom to express personal thoughts
be it the student is form upper caste or lower caste. Discrimination should be
inconsiderable in school.
Evident inconsistencies in delivering classes
Inconsistencies refer to the act of not being regular. For example; a person who is not
regular in doing something. Here at Willson's school, inconsistencies were clearly evident
amongst the teachers, the classes were not delivered like they should be. These problems were
causing various difficulties in the structure of the school. The teachers were facing number of
problems in being consistent and delivering classes efficiently, of which, some problem were the
inefficiency to balance the diverse needs of learning, no proper funding and performance
pressure. These are some issues that were making the teachers inconsistent and creating a
problem in delivering a quality class to the students. Though the teachers hold good requisites of
delivering classes on the student pedagogy and motivation, but due to the inconsistency, they
weren't able to provide the best of knowledge to the students in the school. Here are some
requisites that teachers of the school hold:
 Good command on the subject
 Liking towards students
 Good character with good morale

With this requisite level, the teachers of the school can provide students a good understanding of
student motivation and pedagogy and can induce a good sense of motivation in the students.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that the whole pattern of learning and
education system has evolved a lot with the passage of time. The schools nowadays have adopted
diversity in their environment which results in number of benefits but also brings along a lot of
issues that creates tension in the environment of the whole school. Here of which, Willson's is a
school of UK that is facing many issues because of the diversity in the environment. The school
faces number of discriminations that are done on the basis of age, sex and economic background
of the students but eventually, these issues can be controlled by implementing different actions.
This report showcase; the issue that is faced by the Willson's, how students coming from weak
economic background are disadvantaged in context to the digital poverty, some
recommendations to overcome the issues in the schools environment and lastly, the
inconsistencies that were evident in the structure of the school.
