QUESTION 1: Change Management Practices and Sustainability
1.1 Explain and discuss how each component of the ADKAR change management model
will assist in the implementation and on-going success of a new sustainability management
system
The ADKAR model is a goal-oriented model associated with change management. The model
was propounded by Jeff Hiatt, the founder of Prosci. The acronym, ADKAR suggests five
concrete and tangible consequences which people need to acquire. Those five consequences
encompass awareness, desire, knowledge, ability and finally reinforcement. The ADKAR model
is regarded as an important model in order to ensure the process of change (Karambelkar &
Bhattacharya, 2017). The model can assist to a great extent in order to ensure the success of a
new sustainability management framework because it predominantly focuses on the people's
elements, specifically the process of ensuring required support of the employees in the change.
Each of the components has a noticeable impact on ensuring worker support.
The organisational change management process of Prosci came into being for the first time in the
year of 2002. The entire process contains three stages that a change manager needs to follow in
order to order to implement changes. The three-phase process associated with organisational
changes is discussed below:
Phase 1: preparation for change
The initial phase of Prosci’s organisational change management process assists the change and
project teams considerably for scheming plans associated with change management. It seeks to
take a number of factors into consideration (Schaltegger & Wagner, 2017). They are as follows:
The extent of change management
Potential impacts by the initiative
Sponsors need to be engaged in order to make the effort a successful one
The initial phase is helpful because it endows the situational awareness which is considered
essential for developing a successful change management planning.

3CHANGE MANAGEMENT
Following are result of this phase:
Characteristics of changes are identified.
Different attributes that will be impacted will be identified
Team required for change management will be identified
Roles, team structure and sponsors were identified.
Impact of change management or changes were identified in first phase
Strategy for change management was developed in this phase.
Phase 2: Managing Change
The second phase seeks to focus on developing plans that will coordinate with the project plan.
According to the research conducted by Prosci, there are mainly five plans that can support
individuals going through the ADKAR Model:
Communication plan
Communication is playing pivotal in the change process. This plan provides important messages
that need to reach to an audience who are getting impacted.
Sponsor roadmap
The sponsor roadmap shapes the actions required from both the primary sponsor and the
coalition of sponsors across the venture.
Training plan
Training is considered as an inseparable part of the change. Furthermore, it helps people to gain
sufficient knowledge in order to work in a new method.
Coaching plan
The coaching plan suggests the process of engaging with and equips people leaders and
managers to lead the change. The role of managers is crucial in helping efforts associated with
change management.
