1CHILD DEVELOPMENT PSYCHOLOGY This article provides insight into the existing literature present studying the romantic relationship of adolescents, and the degree of positivity in their relationships being affected by their situations at home and their experiences with their other relationships. This article addresses the gap in literature that is present in studying the consequences of romantic experiences with relationship to their adult relationships and the degree of sexuality present in their lives. The author mentions that there is a lot of information present that tackles the statistics of adolescents with different backgrounds and their sexual activeness but there still lacks research to be done on the characteristics of their partners and the nature of the relationship causing the chosen individual to be the way that they are. Furman notes that much research still requires to be done linking romantic relationships of adolescents and their sexual behaviour. Additionally, it will also enhance the research if scholars did not only consider heterosexual relationships as much diverse information can be revealed when homosexual and bisexual relationships are considered. It was interesting to find out from Furman’s conclusion how important it is to considerthesexualrelationswhentryingtogetabetterinsightintotheromantic relationships. Another interesting insight into existing research that has been which seemed appalling to me is the fact that most researchers had considered romantic relationship void of any sexual relationship, which is highly inaccurate. This poses the question, how accurate have past research material been, if they have not considered sexual connection?
