Teaching Objectives
The objective of the learning is to understand the rights of children and importance of the children's
specific rights.
Rationale
Early years learning framework promote children welfare and establish many rights regarding the
children for their physical and mental growth. Early Childhood Australia (ECA) has released some
statements to support and prevent the rights of young children. Apart from right to education, there are
many other rights for the children that every person should consider in order to treat them better. The
rights includes, the right to be heard, freedom from violence, abuse, and neglect, the opportunity to
thrive, engaged civics and citizenship, rights of action and accountability. After Second World War,It is
believed to be important to take some measures to bring peace to the world and to effectively remove
all the threats to save upcoming generation from the danger of the war. In rapidly globalised and fast
moving world, it is important for the children to be involved and aware about their rights, their dignity,
sustainable development, global rights, peace and social justice. Children are thought to be as public
good as they are “the future” or can be considered as “most valuable resource of any nation”. It is
important to preserve their rights and shaping up them with good values will surely promote the
construction of a good nation(Adonteng-Kissi, 2018). Education seems to play a significant role in
establishing proper conversation along with technology provide a better way to communicate amongst
different parts of the world and resolve the political and economical issues. Technology and education
promote the open communication regarding sensitive topics in a adequate manner. It provide an
opportunity to discuss sensitive political matters, offers opportunities for the optimal development by
ensuring safety for the children and contribute to shaping up their future in an appropriate manner.
Then UN Convention on the Rights of the Child has set some principles to establish the rights of
children and make them aware about their rights through education. The motive behind the purpose of
education is to make children literate so that they can question about their root of social justice and
empower to uphold the human rights. The UN convention also outlines the rights of the children in
context of protect them from abuse, exploitation, discrimination on the basis of caste, skin colour or
religion. The convention promotes respect for the dignity of children in every aspect including learning
abilities, lifestyle maintenance, gender, geographic locations, etc. The principles of the UN Convention
includes indivisibility, universality, interdependence (Fottrell., 2021).
Learning Outcomes (including in relation to relevant learning frameworks)
Establishment of children's right was a good decision because through this, the children are able to get
aware of their rights regarding the participation in different programmes. The children able to recognise
their rights to full potential, through education, information, regarding health care and participation in
society. These rights protect the children from abusive actions and violence. All children, whether a girl
or a boy should have given the same rights and equal opportunities to grow and enjoy the life with
adequate standards. Child rights may be classified as, Survival, Development, Protection, and
Participation. It has been evident from the history that children suffered the most through hunger and
homelessness. They were exploited at a great extent, does not allowed to have access on
education, especially girls. They were used to engaged in child- labour and forced to work in harmful
situations (Freeman and Veerman., 2021). Even at many places high mortality rate also been reported,
majorly due to female infanticide and female foeticide. So legends at historic time, stood up and fought
against previous cultural activities and preserved children's rights. In 1989, the United Nations
Convention on the Rights of the Child has established the rights of children along with 191 countries
signed the treaty and promised to preserve the rights of children.
The Charter of Child Rights confers the following basic rights for the children across the world
includes, Right to Survival, Right to Development, Right to Protection, and Right to Participation. The

Right to Survival ensures the right to lead a healthy life . Under this right, the children are access to
take healthy nutrition and provide a quality healthcare for their healthy mental and physical state. For
families who are not economically sufficient enough to provide proper nutrition to their child, a special
scheme has been introduced for them by registering the children's name and allow them to access the
nutritional diet for better development and admit their children to the centres who avail facilities for
children in early phase to grow, learn, develop skills and get access to a better and nutritional life . The
Right to Development give access to care, education, recreation. Every child has the right to explore
him/her to the full potential. The right of education does not limited them to academic learning but the
child is also able to develop them in every aspect (Lundy and O’Lynn., 2019). Through education they
are able to develop the understanding regarding the right and wrong, they understand their rights, duties
and responsibilities towards their nation, towards society, get information about their cultures, beliefs,
etc. Through interaction within academies they are able to develop communication skills, tolerance
towards things, maintain friendship and good behaviour.
Developed and literate children always able to promote their national economy, contribute to
maintenance of peace. The Right to Protection protect them from abuse and exploitation. Main motive
behind this right to ensures that all the children within a nation are being nurtured and provide them
protection from harmful practices. Strict actions have been implied against the parents or guardians
who used to send their children below the age of 18 for labour work. It is considered as legal crime and
any compromises are not considered. The Right to Participation deals with the expression, thought
process, ideas, and information. This right has given them full access to take decisions regarding their
life on their own. They are provided with sufficient space without any interruption chose about what is
right and what is wrong (Tobin., 2019). They are free to develop and express their feelings, ideas and
thoughts about every aspect includes economy, politics, social, moral or general. Any individual found
to influence their thoughts against their wish are considered to be faulty and strict actions are taken
against the individual. CRY UK is an organisation which works to ensure that all the rights should be
reach to all underprivileged children. Underprivileged children are considered one who used to live on
street, physically challenged, mentally challenged, bonded with labour working, could be commercial
sex workers, etc.
In 2000, two protocols were adopted. The first protocol concerned with involvement of children in
military issues, and second protocol was about the prohibition on serious issues including, children
trafficking, child pornography and child prostitution. A third protocol has came into effect recently in
2014, is related to the communication of complaints. The UN Committee also took stand and
implemented rules regarding the age of marriage for boys and girls to prohibit the activity of child
marriage (Mytton and et. al., 2019).
Materials & Resources (be specific)
Children's right are mainly violated through a aggregation of complex activity. The Convention on the
rights of the child is responsible for human rights treaty in history. The UN Convention says that
childhood is a phase which is separate from the adulthood. It is said to be the special protected time in
which the children must be allowed to learn, grow, play and develop their skills by flourishing with
dignity and pride in their personal lives. Non-discrimination with best of the children's interests, and
the rights to their survival and development are the major resources of the children's rights. The views
of the child also matters a lot in the growth of the of the child and their future life. Children's right
includes the right to health and education, their family life, play ans their respective recreations, an
adequate standard of living and to be protected from abuse and harm. A every child requires a name
and a nationality from birth (Church, and Bateman, 2019). They should be protected from all sort of
maltreatment, any neglect behaviour and abuse or their personality degradation. Basic shelter, with
nutrition and basic health care services with social care. Every individual has a right to life and liberty,
and their freedom of opinion and their expression. These rights are entitled to everyone without any
discrimination. Children are very vulnerable and so they are entitled to protect their more vulnerable
phase and position in society and to give their position a special attention are some basic importance of
children's rights (Correia and et al., 2019).
